Some. But in d 60s 70s i already know how great and innovatice mcguinn was. He was a musical genius. Especially when Lovers of tbe bayou came out. It was a musical masterpiece !
You are referring to a benefit concert Clapton had in Brentwood. This is a benefit for Crossroads Drug Treatment Center in Antigua. Please get your facts straight. RFK Jr. is a whacko and EC (and Stills) should be ashamed of supporting him.
Eight Miles High is musically interesting and original because it ISN'T pentatonic blues riffs stitched together - Clapton demonstrates here he's painted himself into a box and can't get out...
Ridiculously ignorant comment. Eric Clapton wrote Layla which is arguably the greatest rock song of all time. And it is not pentatonic blues. I've been playing guitar for over four decades and I can tell you that Eric Clapton can handle playing 8 Miles high.
Except he obviously didn't - he found the key and played pentatonic boxes - period. PS - Layla isn't even a "rock" song. I own it - on the original vinyl - I like it just fine - but be real - it doesn't "rock" at all. Even a little...@@Joe-mz6dc
This was a totally different drum beat from the one Michael Clarke played on the original version of Eight Miles High. And McGuinn simplified his guitar playing significantly here as well. Hmm….
Allegedly there is a bootleg of Roger & Eric playing this song back in the late 60's or early 70's, that would be interesting to hear. This was pretty mediocre.
2 of my favorite rockers mcguinn and clapton.dosent get any better than that.😅
Saw him at a 300 seat opera house in Vergennes Vt. His guitar work was masterful. Was scared to shake his hand at the meet and greet.
People do not realize how great McGuinn is and was.
Needed better microphon on Roger's vocals, though.

Exactly.😂
Yes. I would have liked to see / listen to the rehearsals?

oddly, i still remember the experience.
Great song , great line up !
For those of us who couldn't be there, I hope there is massive amounts of video available somewhere soon!
The whole show was filmed, and I think we’ll get a nice DVD release eventually. 😎😎😎👍👍
Sure hope so!@@s2seltaeb

Who put the mics under water? Probly sounded good if you were there.
Some of you responders know so much about music. Wow! That's why you're all so famous (wannabes). It's just a jam - relax!
Raising money for RFK

Where are the harmony vocals? Everyone but McGuinn is ignoring the microphones!
Agree indeed
Eight miles high isn't that kind of song to be claptonized. Although a fine performance, but next time whenever please more jingle jangle than blues.

Or boxes! But that's all he knows.

yeah he painted himself into the box of being one of the all-time great blues guitar players...what box did you paint yourself into?
You fanboys sure get your feewings hurt easily - don't you? @@silverlight2004db

Sound quality is very bad!
Thank you!
Mcguinn Retire
Roger still has a lot to offer?
@@robertlagan8441 not from what I’m hearing 😢
Why? He mostly does solo acoustic shows, there's an audience for it and it earns him some money.
Shut up
I have seen garage bands do a better version...what a shame
