- Welcome to my channel! In this video, I am thrilled to share with you the exciting process of restoring a broken blade of a USA Schrade Old Timer 5OT. It all started when I traded a crock pot for a collection of old beat-up knives, and out of all of them, this gem truly caught my eye.

A good knife
love watching your process
Thank you!
Thumbs up to your video. Nice looking knife.
Very nice save on that Old Timer Bruin. That new spear point on the blade looks like it came that way from the factory. Thanks for sharing your work on this. - Tennessee Smoky
Thank you!!
Another excellent job Doc,
The 5OT is one of my favorite knives for a back up knife 🔪
Have a great day brother Kevin!!!!
Thanks Terry!!
You're getting better on profiling on the belt. Looks great.
Thank you!
Absolutely phenomenal job once again!!! I just want to thank you for doing these videos. After watching countless videos of yours, I actually tried some of the pointers you give and some of the techniques you use to clean my own flea market find, and I was amazed at how well it turned out. I was also surprised at how good of a feeling it gave me to clean / restore a knife that I got for $5!!! So, thank you so sooo much!!! Keep it up & you'll be at 10K subscribers before ya know it.
I’ve got a good size flea market this weekend I always see boxes of knives people sell 3 or 4 knives for 5 bucks I’ll keep and eye out for ya
Awesome! Thank you!
👍👌✌️❤️🇨🇦
Good job on fixing that 5OT. I love the Old timer and all the Schrade knives. I have a bunch of them and I believe that they are just as good, if not better then all the others. My favorite is the 6OT or the 7OT depending on my mood of the day. I have larger hands with arthritis so I need a larger knife or I will drop it. LOL - Later
What size sandpaper are you using to Sharpen
A worn 400 grit. 1”inch x 30”inch.
Hi Kevin, Thanks for doing all this knife rescue journey for us. I am a disabled Nam vet Navy on USS MIDWAY CVA 41. My disability has been from MS for 40 years now . I am a quadriplegic , have been in a motorized wheelchair for years. I am 75, and doing my knives has given me a house of pleasure . I just can't get out to plain shops or swap meets. Now the hunt is out of the question for me. You are a great man, husband, grandpa, and American Marine veteran . Just wish I was younger when I found your site. And you get all those gifts I sent you one for your showroom .
Congratulations on the 5,000 again brother... 😊

What grit belt do you use for on your belt sander?
I use a 240 grit belt. I like it when it is a little worn.
Beautiful Knife. You did a great job 👍
Great job on that one.
You need to get a heater. We got a Vornado brand stand up heater from Walmart. It heats a room really good. Thanks for another great video. God bless.
Thanks for the tip!
Sweet
I’m really enjoying your YT’s. Live in Ozark, Al. And considering a small knife sharpening business. Learning a lot… thanks much
Get you some popsicle sticks. Wrap your sandpaper around it and you can get the inside of the knife real good then.
Nice work and a beautiful knife🔪👍🙂
Came out great. Thanks for sharing, Live Long Prosper and Collect Your Own Way!
Great work Doc. ya saved another one❗👍💯🥇🏆🔪
630 cst?

I just love the USA Schrades. I was fortunate enough to snag a few new ones right after they closed down.
Kevin, just one question man. Why do you use so much Rem oil? 😊
UM…I’m using just enough!😊
@theknifedr-edc I hear you Doc! I can't afford to use it that generously though. Um everyone does things differently. Keep up the good work brother! 👍🏻
I love watching you give new life to an old knife. You have the vision to see beyond the defect to what it can be. Another great job brother!
