I rented a room at Lesters place later when he was fighting his demons. He said to me "I used to get punched in the head for a living and now they expect me to make sensible decisions........". Much respect. He loves his family soooooo much. Peace to you all.

I am 75. I have loved boxing all my life. As a kid it was Joe Louis, Jersey Joe Wallcott, Sugar Ray Robinson and Dave Sands. I am a great Muhammad Ali fan. But I can say, without reservation, that this is the greatest fight I have ever seen,.

Went to Lester’s first world title fight and he inspired me to achieve my dreams. My favourite boxer of all time. 35 years later I had the thrill of my life when I met him.

As the ol fella pointed out below, although I've boxed and been a fan for more than twenty years, this documentary captures it all: The rise and fall of an ordinary, but hungry young lad from the streets of melbourne, and the shadowy backdrop of the criminal underworld; the spiteful fallout of two friends and the old bull taking on the young bull. Great stuff.

What where the judges thinking, Lester must have landed 50% more punches, and all Barry wanted to do was walk straight in and tie him up. Wouldn't have got the decision these days.

Michaels was arrogant celebrating early like did and a sign he was afraid of losing and trying to convince the judges

Pound for pound Lester was the better boxer and won this fight, He landed the better blows and done the most damage.
Sure he was hard and tough Michaels, but so was Lester, Barry never hurt Lester. He didn't look beaten to me at all, Only psychologically and partially due to Michaels bluffing him with the early celebration and the fact he was charging him in the later stages and grappling, he still wasn't hurting Lester and to this day I feel Lester is still psychologically bluffed by Michaels.
It could have very easily gone his way and if it did then Lester lives a very different life after that. He should be very proud of himself as even Michaels said, even at the later stages he was landing big blows with class, Michaels just had a hard head and was tough, But not tough enough to Hurt Lester.
So it could have gone either way and it's clear to me that Lester was far more impressive, Michaels style sucked and would have got his arse handed to him in the street by Lester 100 times over.
Long live the master blaster, The decision should go to who has the most damage done to them and who landed the better blows and it was Lester all day, Barry barely touched him the only thing he done was withstand him, But Lester also withstood Michaels to a greater extent so what gives?? The fact Lester was throwing huge punches through the whole fight and Barry barely threw any loaded blows shows Lester also had him covered for the stamina as well.
Michaels is delusional thinking to this day that he beat him jus y because a couple of morons with scorecards said so, that doesn't mean shit when the guy is still on his feet with barely a mark on him whilst Barry's face is hanging off. Think about it

Far out, 2 battlers doing it tough and HARD, the yanks should be praying these 2 didn't go to USA and fight, would have been a mixture of brown and red skid marks on the canvass

Michaels still disrespecting him the goose who laid the golden egg? And saying he taught him how to hook a body punch and taking credit for Lesters talent
Lol didn t teach him how to bang with both hands though did you Barry as you couldn't draw flies and nowhere near as talented
Not to mention acting like a told you so after the mundine fight what a tool lester was way passed it and would have creamed him at the same age
