this man was incredible my mother was very fond of his music so i got this from her i am 73 years old now and my mother died in 1994 at the age of 74 i wish i could let her see him now she only saw his face on the albums i still play his records now at my age. he was the best with such a beautiful voice. such a pity he died that way. love you always Jim Reeves
this man is a legend. Died much too young. left a legacy of music for future generations to enjoy. Yet we have 72 individuals giving him a thumbs down. Those of us who grew up listening to him know better.
Amazing how Jim just naturally does his music so effortlessly and beautifully. Singers today have technology now that Jim could not imagine...yet he eclipsed them all
Jim was taken from us before I was born I love his music. My mum and dad use to play it to us when I was little. He was taken far to young if I could go back to meet him I would love it and to to see him live.
Jim was my Mom's favorite artist. As a child my mom introduced my first dancing steps on his music. It was fun and great memories of his music. This is for you Mom.
God, this is such a wonderful music video. It showcases "Gentleman" Jim Reeves - the best singer ever in my opinion in live format. Eternally grateful for this very special post.
I remember as a young teenager, back then in my country Nigeria, I got all the tracks of Jim reeves, playing it in my room I shared with my mother. And my mother was surprised at the kind of songs I listen to. I have always be a country music girl especially Christian country. I had all the different country music selection back then and I still got them now, now living in Europe and my husband is always like, I never knew a Nigerian with soo much love for country music, especially the likes of Jim reeves.
angela4994, this is interesting, my Neighbours from Nigeria, don't like Country, one girl, Nada, laughs at me play, "She never spoke Spanish to me", prolly likes the rythym and words meshed into the Lyrics.
lovely singer, my dad liked Jim and his music played through out the house when I was growing up, dads liking for Jim rubbed off on me, dad died last year jims music makes me think of dad when I play it. i love jims Christmas album the , it was never chrismas until dad had played jims Christmas lp a tradition I follow on with my children.
I understand Jim will always be intrinsically tied to my father in my mind. Daddy too passed away about a decade ago. I fussy off my Jim Reeves CD when I need to feel like my Dads near by.
The one and only Jim Reevees no one could sing it better every word is so clear incredible Jim sad your life was cut short in that private plane accident but you songs will live your are a legend God Bless good night Jim x
I think i heard this version as a little, little boy, I'd already started loving country music, now in late 50's and still think and imagine Jim Reeves is still alive, I took a trip to Nashville just to go there where this music was made and the singers struggled, loved and lived the music...
This brings back memories of when I used to listen to him and all the greats on records. Listening to the pops and white noise that came along with it.
Had been listening to Jim reeves all my life. Got a whole collection of his songs and never get tired of listening to them. No one can beat that melodious haunting voice.
His velvet smooth voice-his showmanship-his unique style. He is said to have been one of the 1st inovators of the so called "New Nashville " sound. Remember the old adage in the song "Only the good die young"? That was Jim-True to the fact...His appearances on shows like Dean Martin and others...I honestly believe he could have sung in all genres of music and still would have succeeded at it!
this A very rare Video of Gentlemen Jim in his early days,so sit back Relaxed and listen.Cheers! And pass it to your close Jim Reeves Fans.Love you All.
Mr Perfection! Have all his LPs and whatever has been released since. Backed with some superb musicians Leo Jackson on lead guitar and Dean Manuel’s very underestimated piano.
The "Dean" he referred to in the final song "He'll Have To Go" was his piano player and sometimes manager Dean Manuel, who incidentally owned the plane that he and Jim were piloting that fateful day in the storm that cost them both their lives. :(
Mr perfection! Was hard on himself for doing it right and on his bandsmen who were classy. Leo Jackson an ace guitarist and Dean Manuel’s piano was superb. One can sense some nervousness with the fellas.
These performances are all live. The way you can tell is that the Anita Kerr Singers aren't there (they were usually on the studio recordings). And the clips are very well preserved. In those days the Opry TV show was called the PET MILK SHOW and was done in a studio before a handful of spectators, usually other performers. PET MILK SHOW was an ABC network program so had very high production values (audio for instance). Incidentally, "Home" was an early Roger Miller composition.
These were all live performances and with no auto-tuning as they have today. The uploader did not have the songs in synchronisation and were at the Grand Old Opry.Various versions can be seen on UA-cam. They were NOT his recorded versions.
Jeanie Steyn, how did you come to like Jim Reeves, He'll have to go has to be one of the Great Ones, heard it at the Grand Ole Opera, (Ryman) with another Singer in 2010. My experience here in Edmonton is, all the Radio Country Stations gone, FM included, but UA-cam is different than live radio where we'd wait for days for a Song to be sung, which made me appreciate it more.
True. Very sadly, Leo was plagued by back/neck pain in his last years and took his own life a few years ago. Sad really, as he was probably the last direct link to Jim. I think there are very few people around now who knew and worked with Jim on a personal basis. Sad, but all down to the passage of time................
this man was incredible my mother was very fond of his music so i got this from her i am 73 years old now and my mother died in 1994 at the age of 74 i wish i could let her see him now she only saw his face on the albums i still play his records now at my age. he was the best with such a beautiful voice. such a pity he died that way. love you always Jim Reeves
One of the best country singers that ever lived.
this man is a legend. Died much too young. left a legacy of music for future generations to enjoy. Yet we have 72 individuals giving him a thumbs down. Those of us who grew up listening to him know better.

Jim's voice is so captivating. The more I listen to him, the more I want to hear more of his songs.
My mother loved this man...She had all his tapes..She is with him in heaven now...I hope he is singing for her...

God, this is such a wonderful music video. It showcases "Gentleman" Jim Reeves - the best singer ever in my opinion in live format. Eternally grateful for this very special post.
No wonder we still mourn this man. He was soooo handsome and had such a beautiful voice. His hymns sound like lullabies. Love him forever.
I remember as a young teenager, back then in my country Nigeria, I got all the tracks of Jim reeves, playing it in my room I shared with my mother. And my mother was surprised at the kind of songs I listen to. I have always be a country music girl especially Christian country.

Was only 5 yrs old in 64, but his voice will always remind me of "home"... his voice is so rich and mellow.
lovely singer, my dad liked Jim and his music played through out the house when I was growing up, dads liking for Jim rubbed off on me, dad died last year jims music makes me think of dad when I play it.

Hello Sharon how are you doing hopefully you are doing good??
one of the most talented singers ever
After his last live tour in Norway fans said he sounded exactly like he did on his records
Part of his allure was his ability to sound like his records.
His last tour was in south Africa
So many awesome songs in this clip.
his music still lives--incredible voice and performance --too bad he went too soon
His velvet smooth voice-his showmanship-his unique style. He is said to have been one of the 1st inovators of the so called "New Nashville " sound. I like this simple honest way of performing..without all those agressive hypened things of the present..

One of my Dad's favorites.
The "Dean" he referred to in the final song "He'll Have To Go" was his piano player and sometimes manager Dean Manuel, who incidentally owned the plane that he and Jim were piloting that fateful day in the storm that cost them both their lives. :(
