It's sick how good that old Celestion G12-65 is. Easily my favorite speaker of all time - but that being said, I have to seriously consider the ET-65 now. Too sound that good without 40 years use is pretty jaw-dropping. I wonder what that WGS will sound like once broken in for a couple decades. Maybe that will sweeten out its high-end?
YES.....a speaker that right out of the box makes you want to skip work or college classes and just play guitar so you can enjoy hearing those sweet tones. The first time I heard an ET65 I was floored that something so new could sound so rich and classic.
The ET65 is a new speaker and the Celestion Role G12-65 is an old broken in speaker. Not a fair comparison. I would like to know how an ET65 sounds in 30 years...
The ET-65 is a newer version of this speaker. So it is a fair comparison. Also, how do we know the Celestion has 100s of hours? I know the ET65 has over 100, because I used it. Video is meant to show how close they are, the WGS version, vs. the real thing.
I'm hearing this high end sizzle in the Celestion that I'm not sure I like. A definite classic. Based on this comparison I like the WGS better. I'd like to hear them compared in person.
The WGS is way smoother, though, and don't get itself lost in the 3-4kHz range. You get more of what the amp and pedals give you as well. The G12-65 is something of a classic though, although I actually prefer the G12-80 over it, the 80 being arier and more... 'there'. This 65 obviously is come of age and is the real deal, no recent attempt at a recreation.
Dave Andrew I’m sure I could, but I have to buy or borrow the speakers. When the opportunity falls in my lap, I’ll be sure to get one for you. Thanks for watching! Hope you subscribe!
The et65 is an awesome speaker got 4 of them in a 70's marshall sraight cab use them with a twin or bassman head and they sound great take pedals very well also mine are well broken in and trust me they kill
Its funny how the ET65 sounds bright and open compared to another vid with the ET90 also. The ET65 sounded very blanketed in that one. Ha, The ET65 in this vid sounds more like the ET90 in the other video. This is good comparison here though, its somewhat revealing of a few things. Thank you.
+Ken Aiello yes sir! The ET is pretty much the WGS equivalent to the G12 which is why I did a compare. ET is a little more punchy. Doesn’t have as much rounding on the edges, but that could be 3 yrs vs 30 yrs of use. Voicing wise, I think they are more than close.
I I had to go back to the description because I didn't remember. LOL This is a Ceriatone 1986 clone. 50 watt, plexi Bass. All the equipment will be always be in the bottom of the description on my vids! hope you subscribe. Cheers!
They do have to match and you should always follow that rule. However, the impedence is an average and since its based on frequency the difference is miinimal. 15ohm speakers from celestion can be ran on 16ohm with no issues. There are a few forums that pop up just from asking google where tech guys can go further in depth, but thats the summary.
I have both of these. They are very similar in the mids and lows, but the ET-65 has a little more top end. I was amazed at how much better my Peavey Classic 50 and Bravo 112 sounded with the scooped mids of the ET-65. and G12-65. Original Eminence from Bravo 112 went in the trash.
Great info! I have replied before - the Celestion in this video has about 27 years on the WGS. I wonder what they would sound like if both had equal amount of use. But, none the less. Both GREAT speakers!
It's about 33 years difference on mine! I got the Celestions for $30 apiece from Angela Instruments in the mid-80's and they've been great. If they had a 412 with a bad speaker, they would replace all of them and would sell the good take-outs on the cheap. Wish somebody still did that!
Like Baskin Robbins 31 flavours, you might not like them all, but I am sure we could all find a few we do. I have been looking for a used 16 ohm on ebay for a long time. I had seen a nighthawk but didn't jump on it. I have a nice Jensen Falcon 210 cab I built. Takes a lot of the fizz out of even the worst amps..but can also sound a little bland. I think it is a hemp cone. Nice for the price but its not 'that tone in your head'. Sounded great with my Traynor YBA-1Mod1, But with the Class 5 Marshall it sounded a little dull.
ET 65 wins. My favourite speaker with Marshalls.
I’ve done this comparison myself and went celestion. The Warehouse is still a damn fine speaker
Thanks for watching!
Celestion is just sweeter sound. It flatters the playing, that is what I need.
Thanjs for chiming in! Hope you subscribe!
Yep, I have to agree. Just a much more pleasant sound when the gain come on.

Not sure. They have only been out 20 or so! Haha

Celestion has more complex harmonics and has lighter Sound .I prefer Celestion.

The room always trumps youtube! Thanks for watching!
Given some break in time the ET65 will smooth out in the top end.
This ET65 has about 70hrs on it. I bet theG1265 has 250! Probably some breaking in left to do, but it definitely wasn’t brand new.

Love the input. I even learned some here. Thanks for hanging out. Hope you subscribe!
Celestion has a solid base. Not chimey but a smooth high end. Would sound good coupled with a speaker that has a bit of chime on the high end.
Thanks for watching! Hope you subscribe!
Thanks so much for the shootout! Any chance you can shootout the ET65 against current prod Celestion G12-65 vs ET90?
Dave Andrew I’m sure I could, but I have to buy or borrow the speakers. When the opportunity falls in my lap, I’ll be sure to get one for you. Thanks for watching! Hope you subscribe!
Is this wgs modeled after this celestion ?
Yep! Sure enough.

ET65 sounds more modern to me while G12-65 feels timeless.
Thanks!
Celestion g12 65 is better :) Thanks for video :)

Shootout with a creamback next:)
+Ken Aiello as soon as I can get my hands a Creamback I plan on it!
These aren't really comparable are they? ET 65 is still a great value driver.
Everything is comparable!
The ET65 is WGS's equivalent of the G12-65, so definitely comparable...
That’s what I thought.
Warehouse speaker for me... :-)
what amp?

The WGS is better. The Celestion 65 sounds really flat esp overdriven. Just my opinion
Dr. Dan!!!!! Cool man! Thanks for checking out a video! See ya back on insta! Haha
15 ohms ???
+Quentin James Haha yes sir!
if i had a nickel everytime i heard this question hahaha
Can you put a 15 ohms in a 16 ohms amp?
Yes.

What the hell. Et-65 isn't mid scooped.
Gosh seems like reaper wins here. More rock and roll grip and less compressed.
Yea man!
Anyone know what year this G12-65 is? :)
I don’t but I can try and find out.
Ok thanks! I think they weren't made until the late 70s and assuming this isn't the new Heritage one :)
No sir, the real deal. And I think it is late 70s but not Torah certain.
1979
g12-65 wins
+thorinbane It’s up in the air. It had 30 extra years! But they are close to give WGS mad props!
I still love my jensen jet lightning. People won't buy them because they are from Italy but they are great speakers.
+thorinbane nomwrong answer brother! If I can get my hands on some I’ll get them
On the channel! Thanks for tuning in!
