  • Just a quick look at bench-testing a Motenergy brand brushless DC motor and a RoboteQ controller
    Please click SHOW MORE!
    The combination of a brushless DC motor and advanced motor controller gives some really amazing abilities. Regenerative braking, accurate controlled speed, rapid forward-reverse changes, and a whole lot more are possible with this combination.
    It's neat stuff and I'm learning as I go!

    Controller: www.roboteq.com/products/prod...
    RoboteQ has a TON of information on their web page. Great documentation, a web forum, even 3D files of their controllers!

    I just did a test with it running from a small 48V lithium pack. Max speed is about 2600 RPM on that pack, which is more than enough for my needs.
    Only ran at up to a little more than 600 RPM on 12V.

    Your special connector on the controller looks like a standard DB25 LPT parallel port.

    Thanks! I've been looking for something like this. I originally found vesc but I am trying to see if this is more of the application I'm looking for!

    hi have you tried using a vesc motor controller?

    Hey Ben! What’s the max unloaded rpm of the motor?

      @BenjaminNelsonX  Рік тому +1

      I think it’s 5000 RPM. That’s the spec listed in a similar Motenergy brushless DC motor. motenergy.com/me1117.html
      I tested this one running on 48v, and it was spinning at almost 2700 RPM.

    At some point someone will mention the odd videos that were in the playlist.

    Nice motor :) It can't have a 3 phase input as that only applies to AC :)

      Ha ha. Yes, that’s correct. Not sure what the right terminology for the brushless DC motor would be. Motor wires? Winding connections? Field terminals?

      @@BenjaminNelsonX No idea either :)

      The motor controller contains an inverter that produces a variable frequency three phase AC output.
