Our governemnt somehow tried to control the conflicts between communities but still lot of tasks needs to be fixed. And also there is democracy in our country and a huge and insanely populated country running through democracy is not that easy.

Have a goal and be absolutely busy in pursuing it. Having mental breakdowns is quite normal. But this is how I try to keep my mind from falling into that dark pit. I am running away from addressing this, but I believe this process will someday take me to a place from where my problems seem joke.

I was wondering if it's some influential US president, or maybe Chinese, or Indian, etc. I wasn't expecting it to be my own country's politician so that's a fair surprise. And that's true, I've got nothing bad to say about Lee Kuan Yew. Thanks to him Singapore now is so prosperous and stable. Yeah, but just because the things he did worked in Singapore doesn’t mean it’ll work in other countries. If anything you’d agree paying politicians a million dollars is way too much, especially since such money should go to our education system and solving homelessness. Plus, it would cost ALOT of taxpayer money. And forcing diversity? That’s a double edged sword. On one hand, we want to end racism, but on the other hand, we should only give houses to people who are able to pay, not on the basis of race.

Lee Kuan, worked for unity of people of different religions and , and in India politicians play politics in the name of religion and divide people on basis of religion, caste, ethnicity instead of promoting unity.
Lee Kuan was also considered a dictator by some- a benovelent dictator. Not the Hitler-Stalin-Mao type. He provided a perfect inspiration to contemporary democracies between idealism and pragmatism. He was basically a pragmatical benovelent authoritarian leader that every developing demcratic nations deserve where citizens are turned into vote banks.
It really depends on how people define dictatorship. He accomplished many incredible things for Singapore, and the country is thriving today because of his strong leadership
I’m from Singapore and I can say that cars are not the best way for travel. The MRT (Mass rapid Transport) system is so reliable, cheap, and goes to many places. The trains are also generally very clean!
Basically, most things if not all are controlled in Singapore. However because we grew up here, we become accustomed to it, so it had worked for us. It may not make sense to some foreigners who are more used to the level of freedom they enjoyed in their home country, and it is difficult to replicate the way we govern in other countries because the citizens are not used to control.

The west likes to paint him as a dictator. But if you read his colleagues' comments about him, he can be swayed with facts. He didn't wanted to build the metro system then because of the cost and most of his colleagues agreed, except for the late President Ong who made a passionate plea. Nonetheless, he relented.
LKY wasn’t just a politician. He was a once in a century statesman with global standing. We were very blessed to have had him helm our government in our formative years. SG today would be a very different and much worse off place without him.
It's really amazing what Lee could do in Singapore but the most important reason he was succesful was because Singapore is such a small country. You can only have 1 person determined enough to change and with that population it is possible to have that impact. Nonetheless, nothing to take away from his hard work and dedication there is so much that all world leaders can learn from him.
