I've been wanting to create my own cartoons for my entire childhood, I want to tell stories that have depth, meaning, bleed, I have watched over 400 cartoons, I created so many different plots over the course of 7 years, but could never do anything with the things I knew, so, I'm working to create my own company for Art & Design, and cartoons are in it, I've been waiting for so long, I've been critically excited to know, and because I don't have a team, I decided to just make comics to start, as well as books since I love making stories so much, I love creating my own reality in the form of entertainment, I want others to see how hard my work was to create it, I've been working on one idea for over 2 years and FINALLY made my main mark last night. So, I'm working to create comics until I get a team, but like I said, I'm making comics in the process, as well as books, just watch, I'm going to succeed for real in entertainment, I'm dedicated to my dream, with no intent to fail!!

In the early 80's, video games used to be made by a single person or maybe a small group of people (like 2 or 3). That eventually changed to teams of people and now, there are also independent game makers who either make games by themselves or with a small group. The tools have improved productivity so that it doesn't have to take a team of dozens to creat a decent game. Hopefully animation will follow the same pattern.
When I was younger, I wanted to be an animator... But it was too hard for me. So, instead, I became a writer! :D But one day I'll animate my books, it's on the list of my goals haha
Wow, this is such a great Video. I am working on my own animated series, and this "always work on something, keep going, just don't stop and you will reach the goal eventually" Mindset helps me so much. I actually finished the first Episode and I am currently working on the second one. 😁

@@codestreamer7533 To be honest, I don't really know much about this system. What I am making is an independent project which will be released on UA-cam since it is easier for me. I believe there are some videos by professionals that can answer your question though.
@@ItzGoToon Well, the production has slowed down a bit because I don't have a lot of free time to work on it but it's still coming. I really underestimated how time consuming animating and editing would be when I gave the release date. thanks dude. like really, thank you. it feels like i’m really talking to someone and now I have some motivation backstory that no one asked for or cares about: i’m trying to make a webtoon with my friends, and I considered making an animated version of it. But I wasn’t too sure, I was kinda hesitant.
Bro, me too!! I'd suggest that everyone has their own job that they do best. Make sure to do research on how to make make nicely formatted scripts where the comic artist can understand what you want them to draw, kinda like a movie script. What my friends and me decided was to have a script writer (me), sketch artist (friend 1), coloring and line art for characters (me), and background designs, (friend two). Make sure that everyone in the group has an understanding of how the story will end and begin so the process can go smoother.
This video is just perfect! It has so many sentiments that i kinda already felt and knew, but didnt know how to express :) creating an animated series just has to be an obsession for you if you want to make it. I know that cause i dipped my feet into animation for about 3 years now, but never felt confident enough to really stick with it and while my 50 different anime ideas have all vanished, right now I'm working on a short clip (about 5min), and I'm sticking with it. If anyone is interested in that, it's all on my channel (plus some very general tutorials for animation) Again, thank you for this video ^^
I have never before heard of “an animated series is basically multiple short films, which is like multiple final year projects from animation schools” but it makes so much sense. This, along with part #2, are exactly what I needed to hear, and I don’t remember the last time I’ve said those words with honesty. Thank you.
Thank you bro! This video has so many energy and good vibes i really have to watch it over and over agian if i feel distracted by my demons to not create something like art. I really love you’re attitude. It makes me happy to have someone with passion.
I actually have a story. I have everything you mentioned but I didn’t start animate my characters, the different places, etc. This video just gave me so much motivation... thankss a lot!
Hey! I just wanted to say thank you so much for this video! I’ve been working on creating an animated show myself and I really needed this push. Your points were super helpful, and I appreciate you! Can’t wait to see what you create! 😁💗
Its actually really easy to make an animated series I don’t think lol, i don’t sketch every frame, i simply come up with my ideas ON THE SPOT Its the most fun way to animate, since no matter what, even u are exited to find out what happens next, however its still YOUR story, and YOUR work, its like reading your own book and being suprised by the outcome Edit: forgot to mention, that this made me rlly motivated to keep working :v Thank you.
Yenii Animations You method is excellent for beginners or people doing simple animated series that they don’t plan on having multiple series or a major network affiliation. However, the best writers, artist, musician, etc...hit walls. Once you are widely known and accepted you can’t have those gaps. You have to have a lot in your catalog so that if things like; life problems, broken equipment, lack of ideas, etc... you won’t let your fans down or lose your popularity. Fans don’t like gaps, especially long ones.
This is great! Your advice does not only apply to webseries but any creative project. You just need to start. Fun fact, i was once trying to create a blog about creating an animated web series but gave up due to really not knowing anything about writing, animation and directing, so i research to the point im sick of it and i may start up the blog again.
Hey man, this was really great to watch! Your reasons for doing it are exactly what made me want to give it a try, nothing is scratching that itch for me that I haven't already seen. A Pilot of ten minutes took me about two months to make from scratch, but once I completed it, the whole project didn't feel nearly as daunting and now with subsequent animating it's started to feel really natural. Great video, friend!
Have hit a bit of art block today, haven’t really been motivated to do anything, and then this video appears in my feed. I’m gonna go create some characters now.
I’m not an animator, but the one thing i’ve been doing was designing characters, I think that’s my thing, i’m not even the best artist but I know what my characters are suppose to look like, and when I have the opportunity i’ll be hopefully able to commission artists to help put it all together. I know everything about my story and I can handle writing, but I can see now i’ll need a little help. and i’ll get there some day.
Really because I really wanna make my own show for UA-cam but I’m only good at coming up with story’s and how I’d like it to look and what they’d say and the audio I just don’t know how to draw and animate
Exactly. I’m an old fart and I like to watch nonprofessional work as well as professional work. Can’t tell you how many people lose interest in their series because they were trying to create a long epic. There’s various reasons for this: 1) They lose interest in their series because they got better at art and storytelling and now no longer like the series they originally came up with. But they try to hang on to it but eventually just quit. Or they promise to redraw/rewrite the whole thing again and that usually also never happens. 2) They don’t fully write the entire story but they go ahead creating an animation series and eventually they hit a roadblock and they never complete it because they don’t know how/where their story can/should go. 3) They lose interest because it is taking way too much time and effort to make and real life gets in the way. And more. So yes, I really really recommend people first focus on completing a story. And make it a very very short story. Like maybe just a one episode thing, a one-shot. And write the whole story first. And, if possible, have your story reviewed by another person. Then rewrite bits if they need work and listen to advice. Once you’re satisfied with the story, then you can begin animating. And plan to set realistic expectations of how fast you can animate a scene and try to maybe animate the whole short story in 6 months or less. Essentially try to not spend too much time creating a masterpiece. Because it’s really just so you get experience and for you to grow in skill. You’re wanting to avoid staying with one project for too long when you’re just starting out, because your style will change and then you’ll want to move on from that work. Anyways, it’s never a perfect process. So you’ll probably still have some projects that never get completed. But if you’re completing most work you will be seen as more professional and organized than the average person. Plus having experience completing work will make you more confident to keep going and gradually taking on larger projects.
This video popped into my feed at a perfect time. I'm currently working on an animated series and I have been struggling to get my series off the ground. I accept that my first series isn't gonna look like how I imagined it would be. I'm just more focused on finishing what I started. Also, I'm glad there's a UA-cam channel dedicated to what goes into creating an animated series and how start making one. Keep up the good work!
Me: Yeah now that schools closed down, I can work on this I guess Friend: You’ve been saying that you’ll start for weeks now Me: *Coughs* Uhhhh No I didn’t..!
@Carla Miayoukou Why not 1 to 2 min shorts based off the football series? A scope into the slice of life parts of the MC, like details that aren't important but cool to expand upon. It allows you to practice within the universe, practice drawing the MC, and maybe you'll sprout some new ideas that you'll like to add to the big project. Plus, you can post these clips on social media, building an audience who is interested to watch more.
@Carla Miayoukou sounds great! Im no expert so take my suggestion with a half a grain of salt (lol). It really depends on how much time you want to market your short. Building no audience is a risky way of never getting you product out, but with a trailer released a month, or a few months before let's you get some hype up. Just be careful to not do it too early because the hype wave can die out, too.
@Carla Miayoukou i suggest tiktok since its easier to get your video on the for you page for everyone to see and artists on there are really supportive. link your youtube and such try to get a higher subscriber count by maybe starting off by doing fandom stuff then make a trailer, always update your viewers on apps like instagram and twitter about your series so people wont forget about it. try doing collabs with bigger youtubers to get your channel bigger, dont be discouraged if it doesnt instantly blow up just have fun!
I turned 20 this month and I’m on my last year at animation school and I’m really anxious on what I’m going to do next year, I really want to make my own animated series like some of the popular animated shows today. this helped me calm down a bit and hopefully I can figure out how to do it soon.
I have actually been writing down ideas for a story and drawing characters for a series I plan on making. And I have tons and tons of friends and other people helping me out with it. And I came here thinking that maybe I’m missing a few things and maybe there’s other I am missing, and this was very helpful to help me out with it!
Great video man!! I have been animating for 3 years now and I made my own animated series all by my self. I have been working on the series for About 2 years now and I made a lot f progress. But I didn't really know how to animate like making arms move and the legs. But I think I got the idea now from this video. Thanks for making this video!!!!!!!
When I watched this video, I though, "This guy is talking the facts, he speaking the truth!" More people need to be seeing this video. Thank you for the great content!
Thank you so much for your advice, I’ve been designing a bunch of characters for a year and a half and have been writing about them for six months. I’m really passionate about this and even though I’m still in middle school, I want to flesh it out and make it a fully animated series in a few years. Again, thank you so much!
I know I'm just some 13 year old with hardly any motivation but I think this is the best time to start making a series. I haven't thought of making an animated series that long ago until I tried remaking one of my lost books from a very long time ago called "Cat Tails" witch was about a cat named Star and her friend Jake going to see this girl named Queen from over a bridge they have never seen before everyday. There's not much more then that except for the time when jake got eliminated by his bully. For the remake of the book, at like ten chapters in, I wanted to call it "Forest Fires" because well, there was gonna be forest forest fires. The "remake" of my old book was actually gonna be almost completely different from it, it has WAY more characters, (and some that are extremely close to my heart) it has a HUGE amount of lore, and it's WAY longer. The main reason of the story is that Queen is trying to give out potions that brainwash the people who lived in her area (sunny meadow) into thinking this team of people that are trying to stop her from her bad doings (like hurting people and setting forest fires on purpose) are the bad people and need to be eliminated (witch if they over-dose on The potion it will turn them into two different types of monster looking creatures and there is a very low chance you can control yourself again) And there are a lot of characters that were forced to take it and be a slave at her castle. (i know it's dark but stay with me) The whole series is really just about stopping her from causing more chaos. The only problem I'm having is the fact that all I can use is flipaclip on this small phone with only fingers. :(
Wow, this video helped me a lot, I’m actually writing my own story which I’ll be sooner or later uploading to the internet, it’s just story of my original characters but my dream is to animate it and get voiced by famous people!!!! But first of all... let’s start creating dreams, and you should too ✨

This is a simple yet very effective video. You have some inspiring words and especially great artwork! I’m working on an animated pilot and it’s really tedious to do everything by myself, but it’s been such a blast and I can’t wait to share it with everyone. Thanks for the motivating video
Just finished making the first episode of my animated web series. Very proud on how it turned out, especially after many many months of hard work. Definitely worth it to grow as an animator as well.
I plan on starting a show and I really like the way you say that 'yes' you can do it with one person. I've been needing some motivation that I can do it. There is a lot to be done but, I'm glad that I'm not the only one who wants to make a show/series on UA-cam or some where else.
This help a lot I feel really really motivated to start on my animation and I know I have a long road ahead of me but thank you for the motivated speech
I know that this video is over a year old now, but I really needed this. I’ve always kinda pushed my “story” to the side because I over rationalize and think that having an animated series is every animator’s dream, and that if I were fulfilling mine I wouldn’t be creating anything new or worthwhile to other people. But this video really inspired me to get my butt moving anyways. I’m returning back to an unfinished project regarding this story and I’m way happier with how it is looking now than how it did before, and I’ve been doing a lot more story building than before. This little push into the deep end is something I believe everyone needs.

This is exactly how I feel, I want to make a show that features everything I love in a story, and also has amazing hidden meanings and lessons in it. I already have ideas, I thought of over twenty characters. I even drew some of them. I also wrote the script for the first episode, which may still need work. But next I'll write the script for the second episode and make a comic of the first. Okay I kinda lost track of what my point was, but anyways I am getting there and this video gave me just that extra push I needed to work harder.
My animated series idea: Name: The Shards of Specialty Characters: Nicky (12 yrs, Energetic with a kick, Memey, etc) Coppel (12 yrs, Sarcastic, Impatient, Smart) *alot more characters if you want me to explain all of em* Plot: Nicky and Coppel have a Great Great Grandfather who made a landmark which contains special crystals that radiate power that makes the children special with powers. But, a team called the *D.O.E FORCES* that want to hunt them down. A team with multiple powerful villains that are hunting them down, these villains are slackers. They don't wanna target these little 12 year old's, but if the villains do not at least try to battle them they will be killed by the leader, Doe. These kids do not care and are in their own world. Genre: Action, Sci-Fi, Comedy Rated: PG - PG13 tell me how you feel about it in the replies

Thank you. My whole life I’ve been hit by really great scenes in stories… always clips here and there of very small portions of really great plot points but never the whole thing. Then today at 35 in what felt like the span of a thought I saw an entire story. I usually just draw in photoshop, making rigs and stuff but right now it isn't so fun nor interesting so I went to check out some of my old work and found a old word document of a story and a world building template filled in. Hi Howard
But one day I'll animate my books, it's on the list of my goals haha

Wow, this is such a great Video. I am working on my own animated series, and this "always work on something, keep going, just don't stop and you will reach the goal eventually" Mindset helps me so much. I actually finished the first Episode and I am currently working on the second one. 😁
This is wonderful and I'm sharing it with everyone.

Over the last year I've been working in my animated series called "The Battle of the Stars". Seeing this video really motivated me to keep going with the series and I am going to release the first episode soon. You made some very good points and I really enjoyed the video!
I know this is a long time ago but how do you get your episode on netflix or hulu or like disney xd or something like that
@@codestreamer7533 To be honest, I don't really know much about this system. What I am making is an independent project which will be released on UA-cam since it is easier for me. I believe there are some videos by professionals that can answer your question though.

@@ItzGoToon Well, the production has slowed down a bit because I don't have a lot of free time to work on it but it's still coming. I really underestimated how time consuming animating and editing would be when I gave the release date. backstory that no one asked for or cares about:
i’m trying to make a webtoon with my friends, and I considered making an animated version of it. But I wasn’t too sure, I was kinda hesitant.
Is it out? :0
I didn't see the comment was 10 months ago, whoops-
I'll just leave the comment anyway
I make a webtoon. You should totally do it. its fun. You can even use the comic panels in a video format for a storyboard
If anyone is interested in that, it's all on my channel (plus some very general tutorials for animation)
Again, thank you for this video ^^
I wanna make my own anime by myself ;v;
Me too ^^
Eh me three but, i cant animate soooo i guess imma just write amirite?

Get good at drawing...
I also wanted to try, but mostly i'll just draw with my main artstyle because anime is dificult to draw and i suck at drawing anime

I have never before heard of “an animated series is basically multiple short films, which is like multiple final year projects from animation schools” but it makes so much sense.
This, along with part #2, are exactly what I needed to hear, and I don’t remember the last time I’ve said those words with honesty. Thank you.

Hey! I just wanted to say thank you so much for this video! I’ve been working on creating an animated show myself and I really needed this push. Your points were super helpful, and I appreciate you! Can’t wait to see what you create! 😁💗
Its actually really easy to make an animated series
I don’t think lol, i don’t sketch every frame, i simply come up with my ideas ON THE SPOT
Its the most fun way to animate, since no matter what, even u are exited to find out what happens next, however its still YOUR story, and YOUR work, its like reading your own book and being suprised by the outcome
Edit: forgot to mention, that this made me rlly motivated to keep working :v
Thank you.
Fans don’t like gaps, especially long ones.
i did that with my fanfic
Carla Miayoukou
I don’t uh- have any.
Thats the point.
I just come up with the idea on the spot same man
Can animation be made without graphics tablet.....just with help of a mouse?
This was actually quite helpful, I've been think for a LONG time to make an animated series as well :)
I believe in you! :)
Pretzel_Zzz :p thank you :0
Have hit a bit of art block today, haven’t really been motivated to do anything, and then this video appears in my feed.
I’m gonna go create some characters now.
good luck!!!!!
Mabey before you go and make an entire show, maybe go and make a short animation/a small cartoon series so you get a fell 4 it.
The real advice right here
Exactly. I’m an old fart and I like to watch nonprofessional work as well as professional work. Can’t tell you how many people lose interest in their series because they were trying to create a long epic. There’s various reasons for this:
1) They lose interest in their series because they got better at art and storytelling and now no longer like the series they originally came up with.
To this day this is just about the only video telling you how to make your own animated series.
Fr
Great video! I really love seeing animated projects behind-the-scenes video and I love your "Just get out there and start" advice. It's 100% true.

It sounds cool! I would watch it! Good luck!
I stopped when I heard cough
@Carla Miayoukou i suggest tiktok since its easier to get your video on the for you page for everyone to see and artists on there are really supportive. link your youtube and such try to get a higher subscriber count by maybe starting off by doing fandom stuff then make a trailer, always update your viewers on apps like instagram and twitter about your series so people wont forget about it. try doing collabs with bigger youtubers to get your channel bigger, dont be discouraged if it doesnt instantly blow up just have fun!

Same , I’m also using FlipaClip RIP my fingers
I think we all really needed this. Thank you so much!
Wow, this video helped me a lot, I’m actually writing my own story which I’ll be sooner or later uploading to the internet, it’s just story of my original characters but my dream is to animate it and get voiced by famous people!!!!

This is so inspirational...I really feel like your video pushes me to follow my dream. Beautiful words.
Go for it!

My animated series idea:
Name: The Shards of Specialty
Characters: Nicky (12 yrs, Energetic with a kick, Memey, etc) Coppel (12 yrs, Sarcastic, Impatient, Smart) *alot more characters if you want me to explain all of em*
Plot: Nicky and Coppel have a Great Great Grandfather who made a landmark which contains special crystals that radiate power that makes the children special with powers.
Genre: Action, Sci-Fi, Comedy

I came onto youtube looking for advice, thinking my silly little animation series I started is an embarrassment BUT as you have pointed out, I am learning more from actually jumping and just teaching myself as I go. Very cool to have you confirm this method, thank you.
Finally I've found the secret to making my series: 3:46
What he said at the beginning was exactly like me
This really helps thank you! I had this in the back of my head for a while and only thought of making a comic but didn't know how to start and really didn't have the time to with school and now I have a much more relaxed schedule because I got the hang of planning things but now I have too much free time and I want to do something with it. I usually just draw in photoshop, making rigs and stuff but right now it isn't so fun nor interesting so I went to check out some of my old work and found a old word document of a story and a world building template filled in. I noticed this was when I was maybe 9 yrs old and it was pretty filled out and done but the descriptions and logic in it didn't make sense so I was looking around on how to make the old story into something new so this will be my first time creating a story and maybe animating. and again thank you so much!
You can’t teach somebody to bring to life a world of imagination in their head.. they either have it or they don’t and that’s what art is!
