So glad you showcased Lost Man Lane! No one else is talking about it, which surprises me, considering the reviews and the synopsis. I bought it and am going to be starting it soon...super excited to read it!
Definitely going to check out this Scott Carson release- sounds like a really compelling read and after feeling slumpy (maybe it's the heat?) a fast read sounds awesome! Bodies to Die for and Bury Your Gays are definitely on my radar as well. Always love your recommendations, Rachel!
I read Where They Wait by Carson last year and thought it was fun but nothing crazy. I was prepared to write off Lost Man Lane until I heard your review - I'll definitely check it out now!
I keep forgetting about How to Make a Horror Movie -- thanks for reminding me of that book. I know it wasn't your fave, but it is really in my wheelhouse.
How To Survive a Horror Movie sounds like the identical setup to Burn the Negative. Not sure if you're read that or not, but that was fun and fast paced. It wasn't groundbreaking, but I think it accomplished what it set out to. Can't wait to read Lost Man's Lane! Always looking for a new COA story.
The Shadow Man by cody mcfadyan was a pretty good thriller I read earlier this year. My Dad got it for me from the library and someone had put a post it inside that read, "Beware! Not for Squeamish Readers!" LOL. I put Lost Man's Lane on my TBR. Thanks!
I love your earnings! Can't spell can you recommend any true crime good mystery books? I'm really getting into that besides horror I got Family plot if you ever read it nice review!
You do fab reviews, I would love for you to review my book Lucy, book one of the fading light, Its supernatural horror. But i think it may be to short for you, its only 52 on kindle🤔
@TheShadesofOrange I picked up the Lost Man's Lane but have a recommendation for you. 'Mean Spirited by Nick Robert's. It's creepy, and check this twist the student who got killed, her dog gets possessed. 😳 if you haven't read it, it's pretty good.
I started listening to you until you spoilered who the kidnapper was in the first book. Then, I stopped the video. In my opinion, if you want to talk about books, you shouldn't get into details preventing other readers from being surprised or scared, or whatever because they have already been informed about what's gonna happen.
None of these books are sequels so I'm just not sure what you are referring to. I agree that one has to be careful with plot points when discussing sequels
@@TheShadesofOrange It doesn't matter whether they have sequels or not. If you tell me straight away that the policeman turns out to be the kidnapper, I can't be interested in reading the book any longer as I already know an important part of the plot, even if that happens at the beginning of the book. That is just my taste; I like getting the mood of the book, what you liked about it in terms of structure, dialogues, creativity, originality; was it moving? Was it gritty? Did it scare you? Etc. but I want to discover what happens without previous knowledge.
@dfxdfx5368 no need to apologize. I actually strongly agree with your perspectives. Most reviewers give away WAY more than I want to know, even if not totally a spoiler. Like you, I find reactions more valuable that someone giving me a book report. I only gave away so much because that is basic that synopsis is not actually what happens. But quite frankly I felt word giving such a long explanation. I think it's important for content creators to be open to criticism. It just took me a minute to catch on to the part you were objecting to
I think people are bored and tired of 'the discussion'. Yes, you're gay, okay..., is there anything else about you?... so everyone needs to be the last girl equally in every movie . Black folks are marginalized, like in Jordan peele's movies?.... oh wait

Yes! I definitely think it deserves more love

Apologies 😄

I got the ARC for Lost Man's Lane and then kind of forgot about it, so maybe I ought to move it up the pile.
Lost Man's Lane is one of my favorite books of the year. Thank you so much for recommending it. I also enjoyed Bury Your Gays.
Lost Man's Lane sounds so good. I am adding it to my TBR now. Thank you for the recommendation, Rachel.
Same just downloaded the Kindle sample
If you have read it, did you enjoy it? I am thinking about reading it myself
@@paulo7113 - I have not read it yet. It will definitely be going on my TBR next year. If you read it before I do, I hope you enjoy it.
@nevskislake Thank you
great reviews! thanks
The most disturbing stories I've read were "The Colour out of Space" by H.P. Lovecraft, and "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream" by Harlan Ellison.
I read Where They Wait by Carson last year and thought it was fun but nothing crazy. I was prepared to write off Lost Man Lane until I heard your review - I'll definitely check it out now!
Yeah I hadn't paid much attention to their backlist until now
Damn, yes that's what I thought and was hoping Love letters was about!
Lost Man's Lane and Bodies To Die For added to my library holds 💪📚❤️🙏
I keep forgetting about How to Make a Horror Movie -- thanks for reminding me of that book. I know it wasn't your fave, but it is really in my wheelhouse.
Hopefully you enjoyed it
Must read and my favorite book this year is we used to live here a debut by marcus kliewer and close second would be incidents around the house....
Ohh sounds interesting!!
Nice reviews! Going to look into Lost Man’s Lane.
I just learned that Scott Carson = Michael Koryta!
I don't know who that is. I'll have to look up his other author name

Im definitely interested in Lost Man's Lane. Giving me Intensity vibes.🧟
Reading Lost Man's Lane right now. I love these characters, like "the Weller" and even Jake, lol
Yay!

I put Lost Man's Lane on my TBR. Thanks!
Thanks for the rec
this is a very specific recommendation question but I was wondering is there any horror books that give Blair Witch Project vibes?
That would be a fun recommendations video, “If you like this acclaimed horror movie, you’ll like this book!”
Hmm I'll have to think on that
Okay Rachel, I am buying Lost Man's Lane. 😁
What’s a blurb? Hearing about Y2K makes me want to watch Office Space 😂
Oh a blurb is when another author writes a recommendation that is printed on the book
Loved how to make a horror movie. 4 out of 5.
Isn't that always the case? There's ALWAYS one more book to add to an ever-growing favorites list.
Every year this happens!
I love your earnings! Can't spell can you recommend any true crime good mystery books? I'm really getting into that besides horror I got Family plot if you ever read it nice review!
Thanks. I need to work on a new mystery video
You do fab reviews, I would love for you to review my book Lucy, book one of the fading light, Its supernatural horror.

I loved Lost Man’s Lane. It gave Stephen King vibes.
I agree!
Try to read Paul Tremblay's Horror Movie and review it. Love your channel.
Just got a copy through libby
When in need for horror who you gonna watch... Theshadesoforange!! 🍁🍁🎃 ❤❤

did you read Horror Movie: A Novel by Paul Tremblay?
Not yet. I just got a copy through Libby
Too bad about the horror movie book. I just got it from the library. Maybe I’ll read Tremblay’s horror movie book instead.
I hope Tremblay works better for me

I haven't heard of some of these. I really despised New Millennium Boyz with all of my heart! The writing was so bad, imo.
Glad it wasn't just me

@dfxdfx5368 oh I see what you're saying. That's not what actually happens
That's the synopsis on the book
@@TheShadesofOrange In that case, I apologize. Anyway, I don't usually read the synopsis as well. I m a bit obsessed with spoilers 😂

Still can't believe you haven't read Hawk Mountain.
Love the channel.
