To be fair Anette is the singer nobody talks about. People typically favor Tarja or Floor.
By knowing it was Phantom of the Opera, of course it would need to be Tarja or Floor, because there is no way Anette even has the ability to sing that song, but also, I think they never performed it live after Tarja's departure.

The whole "the grainy and the pure voice work well together" is the foundation of this type of metal. They go for a "Beauty and the Beast" aesthetic. A pure female voice together with a distorted male voice. There are a lot of bands like this. And yeah, Nightwish is one of the best ones in this genre

Just want to point out that at the end when Tarja was doing her amazing operatic performance, each time her note went higher, it followed Marko's note going higher than her last. Marko can hit high notes with strong control and stability, while growling, that most men can't falsetto. And he can play a very distinct character at the same time.

The problem with the live versions it's that it's cutting the start and the end, an Di think sometimes the semi part at the middle before the tempo rises, and those parts are very important for the entire piece, if he would listen to the song he should listen to the album version
Not Tempere! Wembley show is way better! There's also a lot of background animations that are very impressive but not visible in Tempere show, especially during that particular song!
I dig it because it’s so theatrical, it’s not the typical metal.🤘

Hell yeah! The Islander is what originally got me into Nightwish. Much simpler song than most of their music, in terms of musical complexity, but so much power to capture and move you!

I saw them once.. in 2008, with Anette. It was the biggest letdown ever, because I wasn't aware Tarja was no longer with the band at the time :/ Thankfully, I saw Tarja live many more times after in her solo project. I need to check out NW again now that Floor is on board.

In the casting for the musical only the original actor for that character to sing that last note so when the character is played by a different person they had to use a recording of the original for that note. So I was very surprised when I heard them sing that.

I’ve loved this metal band since i was 13 (now i am 29) and for me this is one of their best performances ever and one of the best songs of Nightwish. Unfortunately, this woman, Tarja Turunen (their first lead singer), was fired just after this show. Fortunately they have now the magnificence of Floor Jansen on stage. Thanks for sharing your good impression. I want to see more videos like this one. Greetings from Spain

Alex, I must let you know, in the thumbnail you used a picture of Nightwish with Anette, their second singer. The woman in the video is Tarja, original singer of the band and, in my opinion, the most epic female metal singer in the history of mankind.
The one that you watched/listened in "Ghost love score" was Floor Jansen, their current singer which, in my opinion, is simply incredible. But I believe originals are always better because she was part of the fundation and definition of the band and Floor is not, she just sings incredible and is extremely beautifuyl like a queen of the night.
Listen to "Dead Boy's Poem"... it will blow your mind.

@@charitycrawford5206 this song is fromt he musical Phantom of the opera written by Andrew lloyd Webber and was one of the longest musicals to run at the west end in london. the musical has also been turned into a movie. but the movie was based on a book written by a french author (don't remember their name right now) but there have been several non musical movie adaptations of the book as well
In the early 2000's they also made a musical adaptation.
Also, the musical was based on the book by the same name. It was originally published in 1909. Everything about Phantom of the Opera is amazing and needs to be thoroughly enjoyed.

@@charitycrawford5206 the film starred Gerad Butler as the Phantom and Emmy Rossum as Christine. Gerad had to learn to sing for the role. Emmy has bern singing at the Grand ol' Oprey since she was a child. Its a very good film adaptation of the musical. They can do so much more with a movies budget and editing than live. So the movie musical is a difffent anilmal than pure live theatre. Of course being in the same building with the performers a whole other experience. I won't say 1 is better. Each has its own place. But until you can see it live, a movie is a great next best thing.

You should give Apocalyptica a listen to. They do songs with singers from other bands like Cory Taylor from Slipknot, Adam Gontier from Three Days Grace, Lacy Sturm from Flyleaf and Brent Smith from Shinedown. They can be very instrumental at times.
Definitely the one with Corey Taylor. "I'm not Jesus". Easily their best song imo.

The vocalist for Christine (Tarja) is spot on, however the singer for Eric/Phantom ( Marco) is too....raw, or grainy....in the opera, his voice is much closer to christine’s as he is her vocal coach. Listen to the Sarah Brightman, Micheal Crawford version.

You discovered Nightwish!! I saw this band live a few months ago when they came to my hometown, easily one of my favorite bands!!! Check out Romanticide from Wacken 2013 and Slaying the Dreamer, you won't be disappointed.
I love Nightwish! Oh and I would reccomend the band Dark Sarah, a cinematic Finnish metal band. I put particular emphasis on the songs 'The Dance of the Dragon', 'I Once Had Wings", "Trespasser", and "Pirates".
