Honestly I'm kinda torn on how I feel about that. On one hand, there's a lot of stuff that was cut or changed for the worse to save time or whatever the issue was. And it would have been nice to see how Cyberpunk could have turned out with an extra year or two of development time. Buuuut, on the other hand, I'm also fascinated with how CDPR handled cut content by just straight up leaving a huge amount of it physically IN the game. I've put a ridiculous amount of extra time into Cyberpunk, just exploring the map with double jump, and the new dash and air dash they added has made that even easier to do. I love exploring and coming across some unused stuff, or even something that implies more like the NCPD roof elevator and stuff. One of the big tall buildings, the one where you have to escape from the roof area, has a whole cut route with hatches and ladders and stuff. There's also developer cubes around there too, which makes me think those cubes were some kind of event trigger or enemy spawner or something. Most recently, I've glitched myself into Dogtown and have been exploring that before the DLC release and before I own it. So, like...yes, I would have loved a more finished and complete version of Cyberpunk. But, it also hasn't exactly made the game any less enjoyable for me, for it to have been released how it was.
as you can see tho, some things have improved, while others have stayed the same, and some things have even gotten worse...can't wait for Cyberpunk 2.5!

The shadows work exactly as intended: they show where the light is blocked by the playermodel. The problem isn't the shadows, it's the playermodel itself because of how CDPR makes it look in first person. I guess they never took notes from other studios that make the playermodel move normally and still make it look natural in first person.
it's the character animations themselves causing the actual bugged shadows and it's one of the most surprising things that they have not implemented yet- base movement animations. there's very few ingame rn that make the shadow look ok lol
One big new thing about jumping out of vehicles is that with a certain perk in Reflex, you can jump out without taking damage, or even slide out to take advantage of other perks.
It’s down to their jank first person with body implementation. Other games either hide either the torso and arms or just arms with detached first person arms.
@@AntonisDimopoulos that might actually work. shadows might not 'perfectly' match up with what the first person animations are doing, but at least they would look better.

Agreed. The Dash and Air Dash has been AMAZING. Makes general getting around faster, but also makes combat more fun when you can like, bob and weave with the dash. And it helps me explore areas I'm not meant to, which is always a plus. I also saw a random motorcycle chasing a car, shooting at each other earlier, which was neat. Haven't seen any new police stuff yet, but I also don't make it a habit of purposely getting a wanted level. So I'm not likely to see a ton of that unless I purposely try to. Some changes, not the biggest fan of. Like, I much preferred clothing act as armor, as opposed to the cyberware having armor stats. Kinda makes the entire idea of transmog and outfits pointless now. Also sucks that enemies don't drop clothes now, way less stuff to loot overall. I also noticed they removed the "Locked" popup that'd show up on almost every single door in the game, even if you could never open it.
Same here. Got it on sale a month ago, been playing the heck out of it since then. I'm finding that games are a lot like fine wine, they're a lot better after being on the shelf for a number of years. Some mature quickly, some take more time to be decent, and some just turn to vinegar.

It's not just the shadows (when swimming). The character model is bent like a pretzel. I think it was to game balance some things in the engine for player movement. There's a reason why there isn't a third-person gameplay camera or normal reflections of yourself - without using mirrors or camera modes. It makes you wonder how they ever thought they would have a multiplayer mode when they couldn't resolve this - they couldn't do 3rd person in single-player, but somehow other players would be able to view you fine in third-person?
Exactly. Player character animations are tweaked to make the arms look good from the camera's perspective as opposed to elsewhere. Simple as that really. They can look hilariously jank when viewed third person or in shadows etc
If your game has a third-person camera option, there is a good chance that the developers will create a flag for the local player that defines the requirement to show a different model or animation than what the first-person player sees. In other words, in multiplayer there would be no problem. It's a matter of the fact that the first-person view requires the model to be unnatural, because that's when it seems natural. Such treatments are common and you can, for example, watch videos from Dragon Ball FighterZ where models are subjected to strange treatments, but with the right camera work it looks very good.
They never use same models for 1st and 3rd person modes. All the animations and details are different to optimize the game. For example, character might only have hands and legs without body and head in 1-st person mode.
@@iraklitulashvili2820 Saying game developers, "in general", have methods to support 1st and 3rd person views concurrently isn't the same as saying CDPR and Cyberpunk followed through with those methods. Look at how janky those shadows are, as janky as footage of 3rd person mods which just use the existing game assets directly - and then notice how you never see yourself in third person unless you're in a particular mode or go through a menu. The consequences are probably baked somewhere so deep into the engine. So it's probably too late to change it and uproot the entire stack that's built on the jank without making it feel like an entirely different game and QAing the entire game from scratch. Cyberpunk, pre-release had a 3rd person view, and they were planning a multiplayer. Somewhere along the lines they decided to use the main geometry and distort it unnaturally - for movement, gameplay tweaking and I suspect also "hitboxes". The main thing is, while we expected them to repair the game after the botched launch (which they did very well), the idea they were still open to supporting multiplayer, without essentially tearing down the core mechanics of a released game, was super questionable.
Another thing I've noticed is previously drivers would only slow down if you're in their way walking on the road. Now they will also try to swerve to miss you.
You understand that most of the these things were cut/unfinished and modders just took them out of the locker room. I love giving credit where credit is due but, for example, chasing system was cut and modders just made it appear in the game again. And the whole police system is completely overhauled, mods did not even come close to it.
My guess is that the change to the grenades is to signify that it's safe to be there for the player. If you have fire you can stand around in and fire you cannot stand around in, that's confusing to the player. Since you now get damage from environmental fires, the little flame effects had to go. Instead you get the white phosphorous effect marking where you tossed the grenade. So not spectacular, but clear visual communication of what will and will not harm you.
i agree it so close i almost feel like just one more update on the last few bugs maybe 2 and we are Good to go!! But wow 2.0 nice work from the team well done!!
I was wondering what the differences were because nothing had me at the edge of my seat pointing at the screen, "I remember that being terrible! This is so much better now!" Thank you for the side by side clips.
I really hope they do more major updates and that they don't stop after the release of Phantom Liberty cause there's still a lot of room for improvements and things that need fixing, especially the character's own shadow ( And the fact you still can't see yourself in reflections with RT enabled )
It is not the shadow issue. It is the animation of the model. The camera is in the right place for the first person view and you can see as much of yourself as when you look around, so it looks good. However, most likely the character model animation doesn't look human like in the 3rd person view. They 100% not going to fix it in this game. Out of big releases this year only Tears of the Kingdom can get away fully as the game is a cartoon like looking fantasy. Some the stuff you can't even tell if they were intended like that or not. Cyberpunk 2077 is done now. The game is good. Starfield is good and has same issue that it will never match the hype.
With some ini. tweaks you are able to make the game to reflect your own character but I don’t recommend it, your character has no head in the reflections and the 3D model has a lots of flaws as it moves, so I understand why they left it off.
That shadow is 100% accurate to your player model. If they going to fix the shadow and reflection in RT, they are going to need to create new animations FOR EVERYTHING a 3rd person game requires
Y también la mira de las armas, eso deben arreglarlo, hasta Cod Mobile qué es de celular tiene mas detalle en las miras de las armas con y sin apuntado.

Airless tires aren't really efficient though, since they increase fuel consumption. They're also more susceptible to breaking due to overheating since there's no layer of air to disippate the heat from the friction. As for hovering or flying vehicles; they're already in cyberpunk - and they may exist in real life as well at some point, but they're not a replacement for the car, they're a replacement for the helicopter. You weren't the only one to never go back. Remember when you crafted so many items that it corrupted the savegame too? Yea, I didn't have fun afterwards
Same, never had real problems after release, some little bugs, but nothing special. But after 2.0 I am having more bugs and game crashes than ever before, even after Patch 2.01.... Really annoying..
It's always kind of funny when these videos talk of "water physics" and then show shader work. For future reference, water physics is either polygonal deformation or particle simulation (usually with metaballs).
even with all the bugs, i still really enjoyed this game on release. i had no npc car sounds or music at all in all 3 playthroughs, yet i still had a blast. might finally come back after im done with mirage.
I kinda liked the idea of futuristic tyres that don't deflate....could have come up with some in universe explanation with a graphics update to demonstrate it.
Game dev here. With regard to the shadows: I'm not sure how RedEngine worked, but, in Unreal you can attach a "shadow mesh" that is not visible in-game, but still casts a shadow, while disabling the shadow casted by the visible character. They may have chosen not to do this because of performance... but, it's not THAT expensive. I think it may just be a RedEngine issue. I guarantee we won't see this in their next First-person release.
My biggest problem with the setback for cyberpunk is that I still enjoyed version 1.02... It still had the same great missions, same story, same immersion, the biggest difference is really in the small detail and the sandbox systems.... (And now the revamped skills/cyberware/skill tree; making it more fun to play)... With that being said, I still appreciated all the other aspects of Cyberpunk when it was released. It has always been a good game, now it's a FANTASTIC game.
Hate to break it to ya. But after the Phantom Liberty expansion releases, i'm not sure they're gonna do anymore major updates for this game except for some bug and performance fixes.
Would have loved to see 1.6 thrown in the mix because some of those release bugs had already been improved and even more so with 2.0! I love this game! One of my favorite gaming experiences! Just out of curiosity what platform did you use to compare?

Shadows are perfectly fine but the character animations that are made for first person are broken and just not made for third person at all making the shadows look that bad. They are probably not gonna rework how first person animations look from third person since the game doesn't even have third person or coop so you can't see other players, smartest thing for them to do in order to fix the first person shadows would be to just change the character model to not cast any shadows on the environment.
They simply lied about the multiplayer or they planned on changing the third person animations but didn't

While I'm not trying to defend CDPR, how true is this statement? Can you provide a source? I have not kept up with their development.
You understand that most of the these things were cut/unfinished and modders just took them out of the locker room. I love giving credit where credit is due but, for example, chasing system was cut and modders just made it appear in the game again.
And the whole police system is completely overhauled, mods did not even come close to it.
@@pawe1721but can you answer his question tho?
i thinks is not bad idea, modder do it for get his portfolio curriculum, company save money and time and customer enjoy the game :D , win - win

CD already said this was going to be their last major update
With some ini. tweaks you are able to make the game to reflect your own character but I don’t recommend it, your character has no head in the reflections and the 3D model has a lots of flaws as it moves, so I understand why they left it off.
That shadow is 100% accurate to your player model. If they going to fix the shadow and reflection in RT, they are going to need to create new animations FOR EVERYTHING a 3rd person game requires

I love that they added realistic tire physics to a time by which tires will be completely airless if they exist on cars at all.

@@ChristianSandviknes well they are already changing them in 2024 to completely airless, safe to say by 2077 there more then likely won't be tires anymore at all, more than likely either hovering or flying vehicles at the rate of tech.

Sadly the only thing R* gives a fuck about now a days is making you buy shark cards they have become more and more aggressive with gimping shit to force you to buy those shitty shark cards.
Finally we got what San Andreas had in 2004! Well done CDPR
Man You just said it.
People is like /😨\ cause they added a drive by mechanic GTA 3 had in 2001.
@@bah6422 right? How wrong we having it these days when devs are bragging for fixing their broken ass game that costed buttload of money and was 10% of what they promised. Gamers really need to get their standard up if we want these greedy corps to actually start making good games.
Maybe gamers should look more at the overall picture rather than fixate on one tiny aspect and copy pasta the same shit as each other and think they have a unique take.
Why are Rockstar fans so annoying.
Just bought the game a month ago and, man, I'm so glad I decided to wait.
Amazing comparison bro cyberpunk version
Wish it was released in the 2.0 version. I can only imagine what it would be like today if it was.
Nah 3.0 or 4.0
@@raulsalazar05fr, recent games have given people such low standards. it’s 2023 come on y’all
Is it just me, or is chilling in you're car at the bottom of a beach with your radio playing feels like a total vibe? 6:02

Thanks for the great video! I can understand some of the hype for the DLC, but this game still has so much work to do, even after 3 years. Crazy how I'm playing this on a 4090+7950x3d and still having the same issues but I played RDR2 at release on xbox one x and its still a better optimized game to this day smh
What can i call u ? Story blinded ?
@@IamokNoiamnotwhat ?
I don't think you understand what optimization means
@@trackunity391 he know but nostalgia is such an illness
@@trackunity391 why do you think that?
this game look amazing can't wait for the full release!
I guess I will wait for Patch 3.0 , game is mostly fixed but there are still major bugs and issues....
Game's about the best it'll ever be given the times and the devs aren't going to continue working on the game anymore and will instead focus on making newer titles like orion a sequel to CP.
From a convenience standpoint, I do miss stepping out of a car going 100 like it's nothing, but it makes sense why they changed it
This is important to remember when you see the Starfield vs Cyberpunk comparison vids. Atleast Starfield had physics for when you shoot water at launch 👀
I kind of agree..? BUT does starfield have cities like these with such details? There is a lot to think about and a lot to give priority. Starfield is just soulless.. and with zero creativity, escpecially if you compare it their previouse release.
@@MrEp5 I hear alot of talk about this, Starfield not having a soul, and I have to disagree. Starfield has soul, it's just the soul of a middle aged divorced man whos into bird watching and khaki pants. Zero Punctuation said it well "it's a good game if you're really into doors. Opening and closing with all kinds of clanking and moving parts". I like it. I like the fact that it isn't so intense and demanding. It's a great game to play on my xbox lying on the couch relaxing when I'm not in the mood for fast paced Cyberpunk. Or sitting upright. Or thinking.
Phantom Liberty should have been free after the disaster that was the game's launch. Even today it is not even close to half of everything they promised
They didn't promise a free dlc. You're not entitled to additional content cause your fee fees got hurt
Far cry 6 vs red dead redemption 2
RDR2 win
@@Matrrr0 yes
Is that even a comparison? 😂😂😂
@@majesticscope6782 That's the same as comparing launch Cyberpunk vs Cyberpunk v2.0 is what the guy meant.
different genres to start with
I'm glad to be playing this on 2.12 in August 2024, waited till I finally built myself a decent gaming PC to run it not only how it should be, but waiting till it was actually finished. So far a great experience.
they should really fix the shadows
make good animation = great player shadow. and animations in this game are shit
(that's how like 90% of the FPS games do it)
finally, after a few years, the game looks like it should have looked on release
Incluso con el "Parche 2.0", GTA V en 2013 hace mejor las cosas.
Y no es por defenderlo, odio GTA Online, pero hay que admitir que incluso un juego del 2013 en single player hizo mejor las cosas.
I just love the funky player model 😂We can see it in the shadow how little
effort went into the player model
movement😂
Thanks guys for a beta testing. Maybe I’ll buy it but after some new updates 🤷🏻
Without your $60 there may not be any new updates. They need you now more than ever.

4:32 messi, messi, MESSI😨
The only other thing I wanted them to fix other then all this stuff which is awesome is I wish when you finish the story missions that you could continue exploring after and I'm not talking about just reload before you finishing the last mission to explore I mean exploration with completion of the main story missons
Yea as i hate the way the last mission always auto selects as main one and the yellow line telling you were to go is always on even when you unselect the mission it will come back up again i don't like it when they do the last mission is the end and noting else so it always showing on the map just let us end it any ending you want and just drop us back into the game to finish stuff off.
Fun fact: the Caliburn had poppable tires on release. One of maybe 2 vehicles able to do that and it was one of the most expensive.
Some things didn't change. Some got worse. Some better.
Whoever does AI for CDPR should be fired.
For there first Open world Urban project game , I still feel CDPR Did incredible job !
Not to mention their first time doing gunplay and having crazy amounts of weapon variety for a story driven game
People say starfield is unfixable, but no man’s sky and cyberpunk got fixed so I got hope.
