    Great idea! You're onto something here. Maybe glue a dowel rod to the front and back cross bars of the shelf and along two of the support bars that cross over each basket. Next, add a flat piece on top (maybe the cutting boards or use a DT sign and cut it to size). (I'd use both hot glue and E6000) The flat piece would then be elevated enough to allow the zip ties to glide under.

    I think I would make some sort of drawer pull so that it is easier to open and close. Also, the pull should keep the basket from getting stuck on the lip of the shelf. Great start to a good idea!

    You could add something like poster board to the top of your shelves so things wouldn’t fall through. The core board, is harder that would even work. You have some great ideas! 😊

    Wow great idea Kieran well done lovely
    A suggestion for some more storage options on both outer sides …. grab a few two to three shelves like similar to a wired spice rack or even those wired soap holders that has enough width and space for your lose ends scissors or your tapes and staplers etc or find a way to even attach few cup holders
    I wish I could add a pic of some sort to show but I’m sure you know what I mean for more outer sides options that you can utilise your shelving and storage options 😊
    Another great DIY keep them coming loving your content and your creativity always inspires others ❤👏😊

    I would have gotten some of the dowel rods and glued them down the metal bars on the shelf (except for ones with zip ties). Then, I would have taken place mat or the foam board and glued it to the dowels. That way, you could use shelves without interference with a zip tie. If you wanted to go a little more fancy and and farmhouse look, you could get the flat wood planks DT sells in a pack of 4 or 5 and glued them across dowels. Just a couple of little ideas. I'm not sure if it works out like my mind thinks, but if you line up right, it should. But you had a good idea.

  • @NeboAllen

    Nice! Could maybe cut up a DT cutting board sheet or foam board to lay on the top so things don’t move when opening the drawers. Also loop a zip tie for drawer pulls?

    • @Danajanene
      @Danajanene 17 днів тому

      Or the DT cork sheet with the sticky back...but would be more than your suggestions. But I feel like whatever she uses has to fit inside of the zip ties and not the full width of the shelves.

    It seems to work pretty well, thanks for sharing! I think the drawers need some form of pull, although no good options are coming to mind right now. The office supplies on the table surface could possibly fit into one of DT's square clear refrigerator bins.

  • @ohsusanna8042
    @ohsusanna8042 18 днів тому +4

    This is a great idea. Perhaps if you put a plastic liner over the shelf parts then the zip ties might be able to slide without touching/moving the items on top. I've done this before by using the Dollar Tree clear plastic cutting mats. They are very easy to cut down to any size you need. Thanks for another one of your creative ideas!👍😊

    Along with adding a couple of the other suggestions here, I would put this under my kids bathroom sink. Split the drawers for razors, soaps, hair accessories, pads, and smaller things along that line that get lost in larger and deeper drawers. Their scrubbies, special soaps, or whatever could go on the shelves.

    Great idea- I had the same thought as several others - cutting down the DT flexible courtyards to put on top tto prevent the zip ties from moving stuff and keep things from falling through. They are thin enough you could hole punch the corners and zip tie to keep in place without binding the drawer zip ties.
    Also, maybe another row or 2 of zip ties on the back 1/2 of the basket would give more stability???

    I did something similar with those drawer organizers. But I used binder rings instead of zip ties. Maybe when you loop the drawers use to zip ties and create a small chain. This will make the drawers slide out easier and leave more open space to put things in.

    I suggest using the same baskets and attaching them to the shelves but in a way that lifts them up so it does not interfere with the sliding drawers
    Something like fun foam or blank wood pieces
    Measure them so they sit in between the zip ties. Then glue it to the baskets
    The bottom of the basket now sits up and the material you used to raise the basket sits between the zip ties
    Or take the dt wood cubes and glue them to the rungs by the zip tied rungs and glue a blank sign on top of that so your lifting the shelve up so nothing hits the zip ties as it slides

    What if you take two more of those wire racks turned them upside down then attach them to the bottom shelf then attach the second shelf to the upside down ones. That would be a bit more stable and the zip ties for the drawers would be underneath the upside down ones so they could slide easy and your books can sit on the shelf without interfering with the zip ties. And turn the zip tie connectors under the bottom of the self so it’s not so much bulk on top. Also you can tie some twine, ribbon or whatever through the front holes in the baskets to use as drawer pulls so they are easier to pull out.

They have small gride and if you put them over those shelve,you would still move those out but will have maybe a small gap but still will function. Just with the cooling grids, would be smaller.

    This is a great idea...one tip that could help is cut some foam board or cardboard just a bit slimmer than the bread ties, and glue it down on top. Instead of laying the items flat, lay them like a book shelf so the weight is not on top of the bread ties.You could also add walls to the foam board/cardboard to help the items stay vertical. Like you would a pot lid. Then you can store the large books on top. I am going to try this...thanks for the video!
