World Outboard Championship - Lake Havasu 1969

Bob Nordskog took a cameraman with him to Havasu in 69, wow did he ever get some awesome footage from behind the scene - pits, registration, from the point - this combined with the official OMC promo film "Title Drive" and the excellent research by Mark Benson makes for a supreme classic boat racing video. Probably a 396 as that was the biggest engine available in the wagon. The sedan could have had the 427 but don't believe it was available in the wagon. The 454 debuted the next year, 1970.

Lots of them are still sitting around in backyards, completely forgotten. There were two that I knew of when I was a teenager.

Look like those engines on the OMC boat are branded Johnson but painted in Evenrude colors!That covers it I guess?

The Outboard World Championships are done. They ended in the 1990s. But there have been some races like these boats at Parker, AZ and Havasu Lake, CA.
