Croatia is getting more and more expensive, still some part that are budget friendly. But, with the Euro now, I believe it's going to get more and more expensive.
Yes, I was in Split and Zadar last September. Dubrovnik is twice more expensive then Zadar. Croatia is beautiful! Currently I am on Madeira, its January 2023 and prices are higher than in Zadar in September ;)
Croatia is budget friendly for the quality you get (food, scenery, people, service) vs same on Italian coasts. I went to Split and Dubrovnik then also Kotor and Mostar. This list is representative. Great job!
Croatia is one of the most expensive places to visit in the EU and it's not recent It has been a long time now. The average apartment is 100eur+/night , ice-cream 3+ eur, beer 4eur, 3 cups of coffee on ferry 10,50eur. Average for 7 days you'll need 2000eur on modest.I don't think you did your homework for this vid. And I'm from Split btw so i know 1st hand
Will be doing a road trip from Croatia down to Istanbul and will cover border crossing soon... :) For me, I do not need any visa for any of the country.
I spent 8 months in Miskolc Hungary a few years ago. I wouldn't recommend the city, but the country is lovely, especially Budapest. and I agree with the video makers -- very cheap. it was hard returning to western Europe after that experience.
I'm Romanian and I spend my holidays in Greece or the Canary Islands. Believe me, it's much cheaper than the Romanian coast. In Romania you eat cheap and good, but the hotels are at the level of the other EU countries
@@wander-list It would be cheaper than Greece but getting there has become expensive .Flight prices have gone way up since i was there in December 2019 .(with Ryanair from Dublin )

Great destinations :-) Seen 8/10 of them and can confirm! Alternatives are also Moldova & Belarus, but a bit less... touristy - so not for the average traveler :D
I went to bosnia with some friends and loved it however here are some tips: banja luka is a very clean and beautiful place to be however be sure to have local currency because most places arent that happy if you pay in euro. so ask in advance if you can pay in euro or have some local currency. Food is very cheap so restaurants are often better than cooking yourself and the food is pretty good. Mostar is the 2nd city we went to and historically the best in my opinion however be sure to visit early or late because there is a lot of tourism there. The 3th city we visited is sarajevo this place has the most tourism with lots of musea and souvenir shops however do check reviews first because some of them are scam. Overall bosnia is a beautiful and has a lot to offer some locals arent to tourist friendly but most of them are okay. Travelling between cities takes a lot of time because you have to travel on small roads in between beautiful mountains and rivers. Wifi and ac is everywhere and very good wich surprised me the most. Food is delicious and cheap. I went for 7 days and payed €320 all included. (Flights, food, accommodation, busses, everything)
Agree!as an italian going to albania I feel at home, also many people speak italian and they have been very kind to me,my favorite in Europe also it's easy to reach and cheap (beautiful women)😍
Like mention in the description the lower prices are based on backpacker options: Hostels or 1 star hotel for 2 people and budget restaurant/cook at hotel. For an average traveller you can double the price and « luxury » double again. So, lunch for 5$ (2 slices of pizza) would be 10$ for a budget traveller and 20$ for luxury. Makes sense? Hopes this clarify some misunderstanding. ❤️
The information are not good unfortunately, I lived in Europe for my entire life, visited almost every country with a small budget. I like the idea of the video but like I said, this informations are not correct
Ok thanks for the feedback, the series of video will be an itinerary in Europe for a 1000$ with complete breakdown of prices for an average budget traveller. Maybe this will make more sense for you. Take care. ❤️
Let me tell you Croatia is very expensive now and it’s overrated according to what they serve. I prefer to go Greece because it’s more beautiful and fair price than Croatia. Yes Albania is super affordable and Montenegro is really cheap and perfect but unfortunately underrated.
Don’t know where he got that comment about Hungary being a place of friendly locals willing to help you out and also speak English I’m sorry I went to Budapest and found hardly ANY of that I was very disappointed I’m afraid to say
@@invader7191 I used to live in Hungary and have Hungarian friends I speak to weekly. They are telling me prices have gone up and it's harder to make ends meet. Many young people are leaving for better opportunities in countries such as Germany ,Switzerland and Austria.
been to all 10 of them and can confirm that this list is accurate with some additional countries such as North Macedonia, Latvia, and Estonia. The amount of activities and quality of food you get in return is totally worth it! :)
Estonia isn't cheap anymore, prices have risen around 25% in less than a year, and is expected to rise quite a lot more this summer. I hear it's roughly the same with Latvia.
What about traveling to these places from the US? Wouldn't these not so traveled places be very expensive for a plane ticket? I am a teacher and can only travel during high season...summer. Xmas break. Spring Break. So I can't go at cheapest times. Would it best to travel to a popular destination nearby for a cheaper air fare and then take a train or to the country itself?
I am from Canada and in August. 1000$ plane ticket arriving in Dubrovnik and leaving from Istanbul. I find it not that expensive... This will all be covered in a series of video,
It was quite a bit more expensive than you are saying. I just got back from Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia and Croatia. Still a great deal. The coastline was way more expensive than inland.
TS not K in Podgorica, CH not KH in Brach :) Thank you for the video. Actually, coastline of Croatia is not such so cheap, but still it depends on where you come from
The presentation is reaally good but the lack of your efforts for correct and recognisable pronunciation of cities is a bit disturbing. Keep on with your programs but keep in mind my point
I think the best option is just to rent an Airbnb room. They are very cheap in these countries. Usually very friendly people that give you good travel recommendations.
@WanderList thank you. But it's for my mum and I'd feel safer sending her to a hotel where she is taken care of and has people around her if she wishes.

I've been to almost all 10. I think Moldova and Kosovo should be in the top 10. You can get a meal with a beer or glass of wine for under $8-10US in Chisinau. I work in Croatia, so yes there are some parts like Slavonia and Lika where things are not very expensive, but Zagreb and especially Dalmatia has been more and more expensive. With the change to the euro in 2023, inflation is up, and even Split now is more in the medium end. Dubrovnik is very expensive!
You are right, small parts of Croatia are still inexpensive but with the Euro it will cost more and more. But! So pretty, had to put it in the TOP 10 :)
We were in Sophia and Burgas, Bulgaria last summer; 18 days total and most of it in Burgas. Overall, the cost of dining out including beer, wine, and liquor was 50% less than in the US. We did not seek out the cheapest or most expensive places to eat. We discovered a local pub in Sofia and were able to buy a pint (1/2 liter) of beer for $.75-90 US or 1.38-1.65 lev. A call rental was 20 USD per day. Inflation throughout the world has increased prices, but Bulgaria remains 43-47% less expensive than the US.

I found Sofia very expensive as we were a group of 5 who like wine with our meals. For a country with vineyards, which we visited, the wine prices in restaurants were crazy expensive.
this is not cheap, it is different. If you want to commute in squeaking old trams from the seventies that were donated from other countries, eat street food all day, stay at an unofficial hostel that can be Igor renting out his own spare bedroom illegally, by local standards even, and I am not exaggerating. A capital like Sofia didn't have a single official hostel, last time I checked anyway. I even found out that they were offering a bed which was the sofa in the communal area, mind was blown. A natural marvel like Belogradchik didn't have supermarkets, instead it was Halims corner shop with stale bread and non brand biscuits or alternatively bring your own food. The way people define cheap is that Albania has the same luxury high speed trains and a deluxe vandrarhem as Sweden, only more inexpensive. Wrong way of thinking.

Nice video!
Thank you!
Good details
Thank you!
i really tought about either romania or albania and as i said romania second and albania first so that gets some of my credit :)
Good job! We’re you also able to guess the top destinations for the Americas video?? 😝
This is a great list! Thank you!!! What about Slovenia and Slovakia though?
Thanks! I had to choose between Slovekia and Croatia. Hard decision.:)
I have been to Slovenia and croatia recently and found Slovenia prices relatively lower for the same or better experiences. Croatia has been becoming more touristy and hence pricier…. By the way, thanks for compiling this list and specific information.cheers and happy travelling

@@mananjain4352 Thank you I am traveling to both the countries in a couple of months so just wanted to know
I enjoyed this video, thank you.
By the way, I wonder if Albanian do speak English.
Yes of course
Croatia is not cheap at all but beautiful indeed.Montenegro is a great country, I would highly recommend!
Great job!
Cap im in Croatia rn it’s mad cheapp
Croatia is one of the most expensive places to visit in the EU and it's not recent It has been a long time now. The average apartment is 100eur+/night , ice-cream 3+ eur, beer 4eur, 3 cups of coffee on ferry 10,50eur. Average for 7 days you'll need 2000eur on modest.I don't think you did your homework for this vid. And I'm from Split btw so i know 1st hand
Very good to share can we all 10 destinations through road which visa requirements
Will be doing a road trip from Croatia down to Istanbul and will cover border crossing soon... :)
For me, I do not need any visa for any of the country.
Thanks for the feedback. Is Canary Island cheap as Greece?!
@@wander-list It would be cheaper than Greece but getting there has become expensive .Flight prices have gone way up since i was there in December 2019 .(with Ryanair from Dublin )
Great video, where you find this background videos btw?
Which one are you talking about?

Slovenia too
Albania is so beautiful
Yes! A truly hidden gem. 💎
Hey! Great video! Would love to know who edited it as im starting a channel myself :)
I have been in Budapest the last 5 days and I can tell, that Budapest is quite expensive! I don´t know when they rised their prices but for me as an Austrian it´s almost like our prices.
Thanks for the feedback. Had a couple of comments about Budapest. Did you find the rest of Hungary budget friendly?
@@wander-list I don´t know, this time i went directly to Budapest. I have been in Hungary 2019, then it was quite inexpensive. But nowadays the corona crises and the inflation have a deep impact on prices everywhere. Unfortunately.
Great destinations :-) Seen 8/10 of them and can confirm!
Alternatives are also Moldova & Belarus, but a bit less... touristy - so not for the average traveler :D
WoW! 8/10 love it! Which ones are missing for a perfect score. 😝
You are 100% right about Moldova + Belarus very cheap but a bit less accessible.
What part of Italy are you from? Many towns in southern Italy and Sicily have Albanian Arbereshe roots.
When was this list updated? 2000? The informations are not good...
Here is 2 of the links I took my data from: www.budgetyourtrip.com/ and www.whereandwhen.net/budget/ also took some infos from different blogs.
How do I commute all these countries through transport?
Don’t know where he got that comment about Hungary being a place of friendly locals willing to help you out and also speak English I’m sorry I went to Budapest and found hardly ANY of that I was very disappointed I’m afraid to say
Most of the young people can speak English, you were just unlucky.
Iam 75 and a local willing go help if they ask.
It’s true hungarians all have angry and depressed faces.
@@invader7191 I used to live in Hungary and have Hungarian friends I speak to weekly. They are telling me prices have gone up and it's harder to make ends meet. Many young people are leaving for better opportunities in countries such as Germany ,Switzerland and Austria.
In Kotor now sep 2024,price about 3x what the say on here
Amazing ❤❤❤🎉

Cheapest countries in Americas. Can you guess the Top3? :)
been to all 10 of them and can confirm that this list is accurate with some additional countries such as North Macedonia, Latvia, and Estonia. The amount of activities and quality of food you get in return is totally worth it! :)
Thank you for taking the time to write this comment. ❤️
Did you find Bulgaria quite cheap and what about the capital did you go?
Estonia isn't cheap anymore, prices have risen around 25% in less than a year, and is expected to rise quite a lot more this summer. I hear it's roughly the same with Latvia.
Greetings from South of Germany 🇩🇪
Hello from Canada :)
This will all be covered in a series of video,
Great places
i was in march in Krakow and in june in Bucharest, Bucharest was very positive experience! as i finnish person very cheap also!
It was quite a bit more expensive than you are saying. I just got back from Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia and Croatia. Still a great deal. The coastline was way more expensive than inland.
Hey thanks for the feedback. Nice trip! :) Yes price have gone up since I produced the video. Still did you find Albania land to be cheap?
@@wander-list Everywhere except the coast was quite cheap.
You will not get a 3 course meal in Kotor for $10, even in places like Bar and Ulcinj the cheapest meal is around $6-8
Beautiful ......
I hopefully ur further future steps travel tours definitely Europe cheaper countries after Nepal India Vietnam
😍😍😍 I love all of these countries. Very clean and beautiful
Thank you. Will take that as constructive criticism:). Will be going to the Balkans this summer… this should help.
Are there hotels you recommend for mature solo holidays? Ideally not an awful single supplement fee
I think the best option is just to rent an Airbnb room. They are very cheap in these countries. Usually very friendly people that give you good travel recommendations.
@WanderList thank you. But it's for my mum and I'd feel safer sending her to a hotel where she is taken care of and has people around her if she wishes.
@@littlevoice_11 Yes maybe for your mom or a less experience traveller hotel are a better options. Look for Bed & Breakfast they sometimes offer single room.
Does this also include school as well as part of the budget and cost of living?

Europe is really expensive. But if you go to central or eastern europe you will get alot for your money.

Cause de USD is the world reserve currency... for now! ;)
Where is prague and belarus?
Great list! I live in Poland and I already have been in some of these countries (the other ones I'm planning to go). I just do not agree with Croatia, I went there last year and I found it expensive. And now the currency is euro, so probably it will be more expansive
Yes with the change to the Euro it will become les affordable. Did you found that the south, was more affordable?
@@wander-list South Croatia is more expensive, see Dubrovnik :)
@polyglota80 For sure, Dubrovnik is way more expensive. Cavtat, Molunat has some good prices for accommodation.
Please expenditure of Poland for one week
Kosovo is Serbia!

Local fast food place?! Why would I eat crap

Thank you for promoting Albania 🇦🇱. I am from there but living far away now. There's paradise... the beaches, mountains, rivers everything. Food especially. Ps: in north America I can't even compare the food 😫
Thank you my friend. I am planing a visit to Albania in september and will be making a series of videos. Stay tuned! This country is a hidden 💎.

In North America you need to know the right spots. There’s good food but also a lot of junk.
Is property cheap in Alvania?
You put a video of Tallinn estonia in the lithuanian part
Yes someone told me! :(
Looks similar but Tallinn is prettier I think.
Yes I love Tallinn, very interesting city and architecture, but ofcourse more expensive then most in this video
Very nice places to visit. But the best place for money, tourism, scenery, weather, food, cost and safety is by far and without a doubt Turkey. If you go and see it once you will be addicted and will always go back.
Yes! Turkey looks so nice. It is in my next destination list.
I want good quality! Not just cheap/affordable!! I can imagine the type of food those countries offer!!
You are right. These prices are for backpacker so not always top quality. Look at the description for prices explanation.
Croatia?! You mean one of the most expensive? I recommend you to go to some place before making a ranking.
Hope you enjoy the other 9 countries.

You are right. Now Croatia is a bit more expensive and Portugal could take is place. But, Airbnb are much more expensive now than 6 months ago.
Very beautiful video, especially promoting my beautiful country Albania ❤️! Though I have to point out to you that at 5:40 min which is shown the Serbia's maps, the geografical border is totally wrong. The south part in border with Albania is the indipendent state of Kosovo and not Serbia. this is not cheap, it is different. Wrong way of thinking.
how feasible is it to get vegan and vegetarian food in these countries?
Source that a train from Sofia to Istanbul costs 15$?
If you buy the ticket at the train station it should cost you around 15$. If not you can reserve online for about 23 euros here : www.omio.co.uk/app/search-frontend/results/L4CF7F16DB1A34C12AD2DC28FEB96200E/bus?locale=en-GB
