The road, which had been closed because of this guy, re-opened during our stay there last week. I think I prefer seeing him on video, rather than in-person.
John Meyer cool, thanks for the link to the story, but I figured since it was a girl bear and you said this guy, you might have some stuff mixed up..... It's a pretty cool video, and seeing how some bear paparazzi chase the bears, I'm glad it was closed to give it some space.
Dave Crewe I used "this guy" as a generic pronoun, much as someone might say "check out this baby" when referring to a car (which is not a living thing). Or, when referring to an animal on which I had not performed a full genital exam to determine sex, I might say, "I saw a bear, and he appeared to be hungry." However, for the sake of posterity, I am certainly glad that we cleared this all up and we now know that he is really a girl. I think I'll call her Catilyn.

Poor bear 148, she strayed out of the national park and got very close to a lady out walking with her baby in Canmore. The Ab fish cops would have none of that, so they tranqued her and put her in a crate and relocated her to Northern Ab.If she doesn't learn how dangerous people can be... I suspect that this hunting season they will find her radio collar cut off by a poacher. Hope I'm wrong.
So sad.. Groups and the province should have kept her safe within the Bow Valley or not put her anywhere near the B.C. border until hunting season was over knowing that the odds of surviving were against her. What a senseless waste of life and future. Hope the hunter is proud for what he did and it makes him feel like a man. But a real man would be interested in protecting animals, not destroying them for his own selfishness. RIP Bear 148.
Grizzly bear 148 ,sometime to close comfort and still people was hopping very much for her to have cute little cubs as been shot dead ," MURDERED " by a ignorant trophy hunter. STOP THE KILLING OF OUR GREAT CANADIAN BEARS OUR GRIZZLY AND ALL OUR CANADIAN BEARS .Let them live forever.
Thanks for sharing this with us. I enjoyed seeing Brother Bear able to live a bear life.

These bears are quite amazing. I wonder if there are moose or wolves in the area.

Catilyn rocks.
I told my girlfriend, no, the bears here don't eat fish just the other day. Oops
Talk about bear heaven for him :D
Suckers spawn in shallow water and are easily caught at this time .

You should create a nickname for 148. Like the Traveler or the Marathon Bear.
