Kevin's celloboxing really is so incredibly cool, right? They do occasionally add an instrument, which means those particular songs aren't strictly acapella, however they have certainly proved they don't need instrumentals to create a full sound, and even when they use an instrument, they still rely on vocals as heavily as ever. Its cool they sometimes incorporate Kevin's cello or electric cello, since he's such a remarkable musician, and I've always thought that bowed string instruments are the most like singing voices, so it flows so well. Some other songs that incorporate his cello are, "Say Something," "Perfect," "Kiss From a Rose," "Thank You" (in which Scott also plays piano), and three that incorporate both Kevin's cello and guest artist Lindsey Sterling on violin, "Radioactive," "Papaoutai," and "Over the River." There are probably more that I'll kick myself later for not remembering, lol.
Kevin has appeared twice in Carnegie Hall as a teen. Once for the Celli and the other for the Saxophone. He also plays the piano well and speaks 5 languages including Mandarin very well. He could have studied Medicine in Yale or gone to other top universities that accepeted him but gave that up to be a beatboxer.. He also learned to sing very well in PTX n can sing higher than Mitch
Yup...Kevin plays the cello while beatboxing. That was what attracted the group to him when they first formed. They were looking for a beatboxer so they could enter the a capella TV competition show: The Sing-Off. With only weeks to spare, they happened on a video of Kevin playing the cello while beatboxing ( Kevin calls it celloboxing) and contacted him. He declined at first because he was just about to write his Pre-med at Yale, but a week or two later, he decided to join them and see what happened. They won the competition and never stopped creating wonderful music. Other PTX songs with cello or instruments: Radioactive (feat Lindsey Stirling), Over The River ( feat Lindsey Stirling), Papaoutai ( feat Lindsey Stirling), Perfect, Thank you ( Scott on piano and Kevin on cello), Say Something, Kiss From A Rose.
PENTATONIX KISS FROM A ROSE is another good one to hear their beatboxer Kevin play the cello.
Thank you, Scott on Piano; Over the River, Kevin on cello; Perfect, Kevin on cello. Nice reaction, thank you.

Recommend their collaboration with Lindsey Sterling for Radioactive.
Check out Dance of the sugar plum fairy reimagined, Christmas live stream 2023. It has Kevin on electric cello/beatboxing and Matt on drums.
you should make a playlist for your PTX reactions so they are easier to find
Recommend their original, Please Santa Please.
