I was researching on fertilizers one day for my rice farm. UA-cam suggested a video of Calatheas and I instantly fell in love with their beautiful foliage.
Then Instagram started suggesting me the ID of plant sellers. 😂
I purchased all the available varieties from different sellers/websites, from Kerala, from Pune.
I spent more than 10k in a month after the plants, aroid soil mix, fertilizers, pots, etc.
I learned the hard way. 😢😂
None of them completely died but shed all their leaves.
Remember they do not like re-poting. Ornatas will fold their leaves, it may take more than a month to completely uncurl their leaves. So always re-pot them after sunset.
Like she said, Mekoyana/Peacock, Lancifolia/Rattlesnake, Musiaca/Network, Setosa, Rufibarba, Yellow Fusion, White fusion etc.. these few varieties do well in normal humidity.
Now I switched to Philodendrons. They are not fuzzy like calatheas, can easily survive in less than 50% humidity.

Soil mix area k hisab se nahi plants ke hisab se hota hai burbak. 😂
Kaunsa plant hai?? pahele yeh search karo ki plant native kis continent/climate se aate ha, Perennial hai ya seasonal paudha hai. Phir UA-cam mei lakho videos hai dekh lo jake.
In general Clay/Terracotta pots and well-draining soil aache hote hain kisi bhi plant k liye, except lotus, I mean pani wale plants.
Kisi bhi tarah ka soil lo usme aeration hona zaruri hai, kyu ki plants ki roots ko hawa milni chahiye.
Pani daalne k baad compact ya geela nahi raheni chahiye, kyu ki zada din pani mei rahega to root rot hoke plant mar jayega.
Moisture rahe but ek dum keechad ya daldali na ho.
Toh 40% soil, usme 10 % river sand, 20% Cocopeat, 20% Vermi compost, 10% Perlite/Rice husk, leaf compost, cow dung compost, bone meal, horn meal, organic fungicide/trichoderma, SSP ya Single Super Phosphate, Neem khali, Sarso ki khali yek sab 1-2 chammach pot size k hisab se.
Yeh saare optional hai hai toh daal do, nahi hai toh ghanta farak padhta hai.
Nature mei plants ko kaun fertilizer daal raha!?
Plants ka main food source hai sunlight, woh bharpoor milni chahiye, direct or indirect/partial.
Lekin pot mei agar plant hai toh uska root toh dur dur nahi ja sakta isliye fertilizer daalna zaruri hai.
