Hi mate, Foxwell automotive diagnostic tool here, love your video, love your enthusiasm👍👍👍👍👍

Thanks, luckily the turbo on the T30 is fairly easy to access compared to some cars I've worked on. On my Citroen XM 2.1 TD, the engine and transmission had to come out to remove turbo.

hi mate, i love your videos on the x trail?
quick request though, could you upload a video showing how to change the coolant or explain the steps for me.
    cheers

Part 6 of 'turbo removal' videos shows draining coolant. I might have some more footage that I will try and upload tomorrow but in the meantime you'll be glad to know replacing the coolant on the T30 is fairly straightforward. The owners handbook also describes the procedure.

Useful video mate, thanks. I'm about to pull my first X-trail tub as the car has low power (hopefully not main fuel pump) i wondered if you know of a 360 degree bearing kit for this turbo? as i intend to rebuild mine. Cheers

Thanks. I've seen 360 bearings for most Garrett turbos so I reckon someone must do a kit. A good turbo specialist will know for certain. The only disadvantage of building a core from parts is you won't be able to dynamically balance it at home. I googled 360 deg bearing kits and lots came up on eBay but not sure if they will fit the Garrett or if the quality is any good.

is it now all up and running ?

Yes - it's running well thanks. The old turbo must have been declining slowly to the point where I must have been subconsciously adjusting driving style to compensate for drop off in performance. Pulls like a train now like it did when I first bought it. 😄

@@TK42138 yep, all good chum, had to buy a G clamp to help push back pistons but all good, plenty of ceramic grease on all moving parts, oh and I bought a 'sealey' self bleed kit. have to say it worked a treat. Bring on the summer weather now. Hope to get some cool drone shots of me driving this summer.

CHANGE your engine oil ! it is the Critical element of turbo life. Also check oil feed lines as they can /do become carbon coked , fataly reducing flows . Any worth owning (last 20 years) turbo is water cooled
Axial play is 'normal/expected' due to the design of the bearings oilings.
End play needs to be Zero...or it Must be rebuilt.. today !.

Yes - oil is vital which is why I change the oil & filter every 6k miles and it has never had a hot shutdown since I've owned it. No idea if previous owner did hot shutdowns which kills turbos quicker than running old oil.
