- The MSI GF63 Thin 12VE budget gaming laptop featuring NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 graphics card has a weak spot. It comes with only 8GB or RAM. Is it enough to play the latest games in 2023? Let's find out! Additionally, I tested fan noise, DLSS, as well as NVIDIA Frame Generation.

Did the MSI GF63 meet your expectations?
Tbh, yeah im superhappy with mine. Had some kinks but that was due to me being uneducated on some matters. :)
Play fortnite in performance mode
I would rather get the upgraded version with 16 gb of ram
I went with the Cyborg 15 with 4060 cuz when i felt GF and Katana in store i knew enough.
So i went with the 45watt 4060 over a higher watt 4060 just cuz the build felt sturdier on the Cyborg.
Performance is verry decent if you enable Resize bar.
Have it for over a year now without any issues yett. But if the hinge ever wil break ill just buy new hinge and front and back panel.
Still haven't had any hinge issues yet.
Would be a neat lil' Runescape machine if you have ever heard of that one.
Indeed, I've seen Runescape on UA-cam. Never played it myself. I guess it would be a good PC for that🙂
The fingerprint magnet comment and the comment about the placement of the stickers is spot-on. They would be 2 negatives after having mine for a month too. The HDMI sticker is even starting to peel from being rubbed. I'll probably remove them if I can find a solution that will not casue staining/residue etc to the case. The only other things that annoy me a little is the reliance on the function key; would've loved the volume and brightness to be seperate. The placement of the power cord socket is annoying, and the printscreen and delete button being reversed is also terrible. Everytime I want to delete something or close an ingame menu I end up taking a screen shot.
Isopropyl alcohol is a good option to remove such stickers. It makes that sticky glue non-sticky anymore. And you can use microfibre cloth and alcohol to gently rub off any residue.
When you pair this laptop with an ietsGT500 cooling fan, you can game anything on ultra/high settings with 60+ fps UNDER 54”C. I’ve got it hooked up to an external 27” monitor and have been using it to power all of my triple A games. It handles escape from tarkov fantastically
Of course I upgraded to 32g
@@gapingpeanutI bought the 16gb version, is it good?
@@admtr7992 I still use mine everyday, playing escape from tarkov right now. But I have a top of the line cooling pad and upgraded ram to 32gb. But when I used mine with 16gb it performed decently. Keep in mind it’s a laptop
@@gapingpeanutFor 15gb @@gapingpeanut
how would a 16gb 3050 compare?
the labtop is ok, u need to increase the ram and it will boost up your fps
What about using this laptop as an editing device?
@@slashblash0258 I tried photoshop and illustrator and it's working great. It's just 8GB RAM btw planning to add 8GB more and will use it for video editing.
OFC IT WILL BE PERFECT FOR ADOBE PR BUT I THINK THAT U MIGHT HAVE SOME LITTLE PROBLEMS IN ADOBE AE RENDERING IF U HAVE ONLY 8GB RAM @@slashblash0258
@@slashblash0258 it would work great.
Hey brother I'm just going to buy this laptop in a few days, I'm just curious if I can connect an external monitor to the dedicated gpu through the USB type c port by using a docking station. Please clear my doubt brother.
I have no idea. Can't help you clarify this. I returned this laptop a while ago because 8GB of RAM is not enough in 2024.
@@theivadim ok no problem, thanks for your response though. Wish you growth. 🙏
Thanks! I appreciate it!🤝🙂
The stutters jn fortnite are only becouse of the ram if you upgrade to 16 gb or ram you will get more fps and less frame drops
Mine came with 16GB ram stock. According to MSI it supports 64gb ram.
upgrade the laptop to 16gb and its a big improvement...and enabling DLSS in games available like Cyberpunk will improve A LOT
I bought the 16GB version. Is it good for gaming?
@@admtr7992 yes!
Your capping the fps what’s the point

Is it good ? I got it for 900€ while the original price is 1200€
Aha! You got the better version🙂 It definitely won't have many performance-related problems that my model in this video had. Please, tell us about your experience when you receive it.
@@theivadim alr ! Thanks for the reply here's a follow 👍🏼
Im using 16gb ram for few months already and i love it.
1 thing i dont like is how hot it gets but solved that problem with cooling pad
@@wrax1996 i have ordered this laptop from amazon and it will deliver me between January 22-5 feb . Do you think this laptop worth its price? Also can run any game with mid performance to high? 16:22
I got the same spec for 700 USD
Rust FPS ?
Hi, I am buying a MSI GF63 Thin, i7 11800h, 16 GB RAM, 512 SSD, RTX 3050 for 800 Dólars, It This a good buy?
Hello, I do not know how the situation is in your country, but you can choose Lenovo LoQ or Acer Nitro instead of a thin model MSI. Also, I do not think there is much difference between 2050 and 3050, so you can also choose a Victus with 2050. Among all these, my suggestion is LoQ or Nitro.
I love mine , just mod it like a mining graphics card with pads and paste
I recently purchased the same one but instead my specs are: MSI Thin GF63 15.6" 144Hz Gaming Laptop: 12th Gen Intel Core i7, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050, 16GB DDR4, 512GB NVMe SSD, Type-C, Cooler Boost 5, Win11 Home: Black 12VE-066US
Is it good?
I think I have the same one. I'm running Witcher 3 modded with everything on Ultra running at 90frames give or take so I'd say you're solid depending on. Got mine a week ago
I'm planning on getting the same model as yours but a bit hesitant. How's it working for you so far?
@@iris2050 so far it’s been great
Performance is just great
Only issue for me is battery life if I’m trying to use it as a regular laptop but other than that it’s a great buy
I've heard that they have overheating and hinge issues, how's it on yours?
@@iris2050 well I have a cooling pad but to me it doesn’t overheat or have any hinge issues
Bro i have exact same laptop and it runs elden ring lowest setting in 40fps-60 and always frame drop why😢😢😢😢
You also have 8GB of RAM? It's possible that's why. Elden Ring calls for a minimum of 12GB. While some games can run OK, others will stutter to the point of being unpleasant to play.
@@theivadim it was 16GB of ram😭😭

Is it good to stream games on?
Do you mean use it to stream games on a cloud gaming service like GeForce Now? Or play games and stream it to Twitch kind of streaming?
The answer to the first one is yes.
But second option... I don't know. Probably yes, since thanks to hardware media engines included in GPUs and CPUs these day allow doing it with very little resources used. Gone are the days when you had to have a powerful CPU to stream on Twitch.
@@theivadim thanks yes like TikTok an Facebook most!
One thing that I'll say is - get a laptop with at least 16GB of RAM memory. The one I use in this video has only 8GB and it is not good in 2024 if you want to play the latest games. Also, you'll need a bit more memory to run your streaming software properly.
8gb is why your game stuttered in fortnite i bet. sweet video thouugh! i just may buy this laptop
Does it come with a mouse?
No
@@theivadim ok
Did fortnite run smooth ?
Nope. You can see it in the video. It is stuttering a lot. Don't know what's up with that since Fortnite isn't a demanding game and in theory should run fine on this laptop. Maybe it's just the way the game runs... I don't play Fortnite regularly, so don't know. I've heard somewhere that Fortnite doesn't pre-load shaders. It just loads them real-time when they appear on the screen, hence why stuttering happens. That is a major technical flaw of the game if true. Do you know anything about this issue?
