A tour of Blanco, Texas (Texas Hill Country Road Trip Vlog)

Blanco is a small town of a few thousand people located about an hours drive southwest of Austin or north of San Antonio. They have a historic square with an impressive looking courthouse building. The Blanco river runs around the town and the Blanco State Park is also right there in the town. The town is proud of the Buggy Barn Museum and their annual Lavender Festival. In terms of community events they have market days every third Saturday next to the courthouse building. In terms of live music there are quite a few places right there, including Redbud Cafe, Uptown Blanco Restaurant, Tenuta Bianco Wine Bar, Herb's Hat Shop, Old 300 BBQ. Just off the square you can find Chess Club Cafe, Old Ironhorse Saloon, Milam and Greene Whiskey and Real Ale Brewing Company. Ultimately I made it out to Wedding Oak Winery in Fredericksburg. Good times.

Bridwell you mention almost all the restaurants in Blanco, Texas except the Mexican ones. Blanco has some great Mexican food. Also in 1826, the Mexican government granted Benjamin R. Milam a contract to settle 300 families between the Colorado and Guadalupe rivers with the only conditions being becoming Mexican citizens and no slaves. Blanco is a fantastic small town. Shelley Duvall, actress, was a famous resident in Blanco.

What TexMex restaurants do you recommend? I’ve eaten at one and, while it was inexpensive, it was just so-so.
