In 3DS, sense you could see the itens that your rival gets, I would always stop the car and let everybody pass me. In this game, is a little hard, because you only see the blue shell once it's coming in your direction. But it's still possible, only the window to fool the shell blue is smaller.

I'm with you on the weight stat thing. On Mkwii the weight stat is even more busted to the point using lightweights are unviable on tracks due to respawns. I bought mk8d just because the lightweights are very usable and I love toad and the baby characters!!!

Unviable is a stretch but sets like Funky Kong + Flame Runner and Daisy + Mach Bike definitely outclass any of the lightweight options.
Univable is exagerrated, I remember I had reached 9999 points with Baby Luigi Bullet Bike and stayed around the 9000s during a long time. But yes, you were ejected pretty far at the slightest impact, and it was even worse in the air.

I remember being Dry Bones main on MkWii (peaked around 9850), and I can confirm that I would get knocked off the beginning of Rainbow Road 4 times out of 5.

I use the same combo for 200 cc but with koopa troopa. The mini turbo and acceleration is worth the slight speed decrease and you get so much more control. Great vid btw!!

Instant acceleration is very underrated. Double down with great handling and traction, and controlled speed, and you spend less time getting TO top speed, and lose less speed to off roading, get that speed back faster, and can pick your lines better.

i love mario kart wii, but this game just has so many more viable combos and fun tracks. for me, the physics in this game is actually more fun. mkwii has greater competitive depth and less randomness tho

As a person who just grew up playing maria kart for just fun, i never knew you could dodge a blue shell.
The Grumble volcano world record is 1:52.441 and is played with Yoshi, buggybud, azure rollers and paper glider. The name of the player is Panda.
I really like the fact that you cut out the moments where there's not much happening in the races and the waiting time between races.
Usually I fast forward these passages myself but I might lose some interesting content so I often end up just skipping the video because it's tedious

The thing is you have optimal mini turbo but dry bones combo has too but more speed so thats better but yoshi teddy is less mini turbo but sooo much better in speed and you still have much mini turbo
exactly. the hidden mini turbo stat is pretty busted, tbh i think MT > speed, but only by a little bit.
the reason i think this is because the current most popular combo (yoshi tier + teddy buggy) is tied for #1 highest speed + MT sum. and of those best combos, yoshi teddy has the #1 highest MT stat, and lowest speed stat.
even if you look at prepatch, so many records were set on waluigi/biddybuggy, which is exactly the same idea. it was tied for #1 highest speed + MT combo you can have, and it had the highest MT / lowest speed out of those combos. walu/wiggler also had very similar stats.
Yeah i mean mt is better than speed imo but still online its literally bad to go in all mini turbo cause much Mini turbo=less weight and you get bumped of very easily with the Yoshi combo you still get bumped pretty hard so i use the Rosa combo i feel like online you can do
Excactly the same as with Yoshi but its a little harder so at least online the rosa combo is better
this is actually the meta, the mini boost is the highest on this and since you should always be trying to boost it ends up being faster generally then everything epse

Actually this combo is really good because of it's mini turbo biddy buggy roller cloud glider or any combo with identical stats hold the majority of the records in the game

honestly i go for super low speed combos, i play 200CC so you really want low speed high acceleration and handling

i use this combo in 50cc to 200cc (No DLC) and it was so easy getting 3 stars on every race, some in 200cc was hell but i managed to win after some practice
i call this combo Baby Drift and it is my favorite

I might sound salty but with this combination you should never lose because with your acceleration makes it impossible for anyone to catch you.
Its impossible to front run on some courses, such as mute city or moo moo meadows where its mostly not about mini turbo. Everyone just catches up easily. Also, I can get bumped off easily on tracks like rainbow road, which means getting up to 1st place is extremely hard.

I always used larry + this combi and i call tell that the coins are extremly strong since 10 coins actually feels like you doubled your maximum speed, besides that a pink turbo is literally as good as a mushroom. Weight is almost no problem in MK8D but compared to MK7 as example it actually is something you will notice in MK8D but not really much

I used Shy Guy, Streetle, Rollers for a while (Now I use my boy Petey). Acceleration and mini turbos are much better than raw speed IMO lol

This is actually one of the karts I've been using for a while because of how good the acceleration is. Didn't expect to be actually the slowest combo ever. XD
it also has the highest mini turbo stat, so it's not too bad!
I've always used baby Daisy and this combo. I like that smidge extra speed at the cost of a little lostMT stat.

I can’t get over the fact that Baby Rosalina’s hair is identical to the grow up version. Every other baby character has different hair, but Rosalina found a great style as a toddler and never looked back
This combo is what I actually main, it's held up surprisingly well since I started using it at the start of 2.3.0!
