      @@pvanb2There is no need. We have not yet reached the point of escalation when there are no other options left except a nuclear strike. However, the West, in its unwillingness to give in and admit that it was not worth moving NATO to the borders of Russia, may well lead us all to the guillotine. If they are going to move to a new round of escalation, Russia will respond proportionately. But the Defense Ministry is not stupid. They understand perfectly well that after a nuclear strike, even the allies will condemn it. Something out of the ordinary would have to happen to use such means. For example, if the entire NATO bloc declares war on Russia. This is already an existential threat to statehood, and Russia will use all available means to protect its sovereignty.

    The atmosphere starts to get dense at around 10 km, so when the missile penetrates that final dense layer, it is basically like it is splashing into liquid, and that's what it looks like. It takes a little over a second to travel through that layer, generating the beams of plasma from the compression heating.

    The RS-26 can carry 4 to 6 MIRV nuclear warheads.
    The nuclear warheads have been replaced with multiple HE sub-warheads.
    Around 6 sub-warheads would be typical.
    So 6 clusters of multiple warheads can be seen - maybe 24 - 36 total sub-warheads.
    They are glowing white from the heat of re-entry.
    Their sonic booms are massive and can cause damage.
    FWIW the pure mechanical energy due to the 3 to 5 km per second (!) velocity of each warhead is sufficient to cause major damage even if the HE fails to detonate.

      Ballistic missiles have a predictable path once launched. Path of cruise missiles can be programmed and hence unpredictable. But what makes interception difficult even in the case of a ballistic missile is the time to respond. If it is too short, interception may be impossible.
      For example ballistic missiles launched from Russia onto Ukraine may be impossible to intercept, but ballistic missiles launched from Russia onto the USA can be intercepted if the launch is detected early. That is why the USA was putting the anti-ballistic missiles radars in the Baltics.

    Some of the videos show 6 waves, so 36 hits *1/2 Mass x Velocity Squared*
    The "AMK Mapping" video lets you hear the horrendous force of the hit.

    "There will always be an answer" - Putin made an appeal, He said that the attack on the Yuzhmash plant, which produces Neptunes, was carried out by a medium-range ballistic missile in hypersonic equipment "Oreshnik" without nuclear equipment.
    The main thing from the statement:
    - It is impossible to use long-range weapons on the territory of Russia without specialists from the countries where they were manufactured, it is known. On November 19, 6 ATACMS missiles and on November 20 Storm Shadow missiles struck Russian military facilities in the Kursk and Bryansk regions, the targets of the strikes were not achieved;
    - The use of long-range weapons by the enemy against the Russian Federation cannot affect the course of the special operation. Russia is ready to resolve disputed issues by peaceful means, but is ready for any development of events;
    - For humanitarian reasons, Russia will warn civilians in advance in the event of the use of such systems as the Hazel;
    - The latest Russian missiles attack targets at a speed of 2-3 km per second, no enemy air defense and missile defense systems intercept them;
    - The conflict in Ukraine has acquired elements of a global character after attacks by long-range Western missiles on Russia;
    - Russia considers itself entitled to use weapons against military installations of countries that allow the use of their weapons against our country;
    - The Russian Federation will decide on the further deployment of medium-range and shorter-range missiles, depending on the actions of the enemy.

    The nuclear version of the "Oreshnik" can carry 200 "Hiroshima"
    The Oreshnik missile can carry both a high-explosive fragmentation charge and a nuclear one
    "The missile is quite modernized, good, with a range, most likely, about 6,000 km, with a separable warhead - 6 or 8, while each is most likely capable of carrying a charge of hundreds of kilotons, which exceeds the total charge dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki by a factor of 100-200. It was a demonstration of a dummy that could be in nuclear gear. Most likely, the Oreshnik is already on combat duty."

    Every ICBM has several warheads so the thing that you see falling from the sky in the video is not ICBM. Its actually warheads that it transports. It essentially opens when it comes near its target and it releases all of the warheads that can then travel separated from each other and hit multiple targets in this way. This also ensures that not all of them can be intercepted and it makes it impossible to prevent a nuclear strike.

  • @Shankar224

      @@DefensePoliticsAsia And where did you serve? I don't want to offend, but the branches and types of troops are quite different from each other, and in any case you are unlikely to know everything, including doctrines for responding to certain threats, strategy for deploying large troop groups, tactics for small units, actions of logistics units during combat operations, or combat crew numbers of a nuclear submarine. This is a crude example, but I want to be clear. It is impossible to know everything, no matter how well-trained a soldier you are. At least because your superiors always know more than you, and will not give you complete information about the operation, because you do not need it. Your task is to complete your task, another platoon/company/squad - their tasks. They do not need to know about the operation as much as, for example, a brigade commander. The less your head is cluttered with extraneous information that does not concern you, the more successfully you will complete your task.
