When I came home after living in Italy for a year, I could not get over how big and spread out everything was. I really missed being able to walk everywhere. American mass transit sucks. It is so slow and expensive. It doesn’t go where you need to go most of the time. I missed being able to walk to any street corner and see 10 busses come by in an hour. Here, you are lucky to get one bus an hour. I never drove once the whole time I lived in Italy. The trains and busses went almost everywhere. Oh, I really missed Italian food. I started gaining weight as soon as I got home.
In Italy the law prohibits to place billboards near the highways because they can distract drivers, if you see one it's illegal, and the fines are high.
I didn't know that! It makes sense, though. So interesting! Thanks for sharing!
Being italian, it's very interesting for me to watch these kind of videos because it makes me realize how special our culture is! To me, spending hours at a restaurant or finding fresh products at the supermarket is just normal, it's what I'm used to, but I realize how lucky I am when I hear foreign people talking about it! Of course not everything is perfect here, but I still think Italy is a wonderful country 🌸 (and European culture in general 😊)
100% agree with you Alice! 😘✨
its'true , me too by learning other countries, I realized how lucky we are ...we must thank the ancient history of the country
Talk show FO SHO! Thumbs up if you agree ;-)
Zoey Arielle - It would be Epic!!! 🎥
It’s so interesting watching these videos, being an Italian living in Italy and seeing how special our culture actually is
Awesome energy between the two of you! I definitely see a future Zoey and Sofie talk show! As an American who just returned to the US from a short visit in Rome... I find myself dreaming of the outdoor cafes- cobblestone streets- fashionable people etc.... Americans have little appreciation for the old... we tear down to build new and better things..... Good job Ladies!
Thank you! You'll be back in Rome soon :) XO
In Italy law prohibites billboards over the freeway. You can have it on highways but it should stay parallel to the direction of vehicles, and mainly law prohibits moving advertising (like moving colored lights, animations, or TV Panels) in order not distracting drivers.
But law does not prohibits signboards or banners so if a big store or a supermarket insist with a facade on the freeway, they are allowed to put big signs on its walls but strictly not animated ones.
From times to times advertising companies use flaws in the law to mount animated panels on the roads telling these are information panels but they were periodically removed by authorities.
Mine is the BIDET, where is my Bidet?? :) )
oh yes!!! i forgot to include that one!!! so true
Ahh, the Spanish call it the sobremesa - when you stay more in a restaurant, and you chat, you take your time before leaving. One of the things I miss the most as an Italian living in the UK.
Also, look at you at 9:10 - 9:11 being all fluent in italian "sign" language!!
😆😆😆 gracias
I was stationed in Germany during the Cold War. The service was slow but people did not care if you brought a book and read while you waited. In the States they are insulted . . . but they don't serve slowly, either.
You two always make me laugh and Brighten up my day, i refuse to miss any upload you ladies make they are that good, thank you!👍😊❤
Thanks so much Michael!
Your collabs are the besttttt 💕
Merci amore, we miss you!!!!
Awww spanksss! Can’t wait to collab with you again, either in Paris or back in Rome!💕
Ho Sophie and Zoey, it's the first time i watch a video of yours and at first i thought you Sophie were italian! Perfect hand gesture, swinging intonation etc. ahaha i can see you have lived in (and loved) Rome!
Yes please do a Talk Show! 👍👍
YAY :D
Belle e brave. Keep up the good work! Greetings from DC!
hahaha this is so interesting !! and you girls are hilarious 😂
Thanks so much for watching! xx
love this video Sofie
Thanks so much Sonia! Xo
and in the US you are expected to tip when visiting a Spa, that also adds up!
We have long-life milk too, the one Zoey's referring to is 'fresh' milk that goes bad in few days
Wow che patatine!!!! Keep up the good work!!
Love these type of videos!
Me too
Thanks girls! Love having you here!
I love the flow between you both. Get a podcast together 👍🏻
This fun and humor is very contagious! 😄😆😅
Michael Kelley thanks!
Sofie's World Welcome!
I'm british and when it comes to tipping we don't really work put a percentage to tip. Say if the bill came to £27 I would just give them £30 and let them keep the change as the tip. Most people I know just round it up to the nearest figure.
Good idea. Talk Show 👍
Have you ever been to northern Italy? Because you should it's a complete different experience
I like the huge Walmarts but i am from Arkansas lol so many choices to blow your money :) love it
Interesting video to watch and learn new, Thanks for sharing,
Like
I really liked the Italian way of life when I was there--so much nicer than the uptight, never ending need to rush in the U.S.
Lol I love that sad Zoey music haha. Poor Zoey 😢
Me too haha! Except I LOL'd XP Cause it's so true!
Hahahahahhaa awwwww. Don’t worry I know Zo will manifest it!
Sofie's totally appropriated the Italian tendency to gesture a lot :D
Yay I love you guys doing collabs!! You don't tip in Australia either and I still find it so odd!
Thanks for stopping by, Louise! I love the whole no tipping thing :)
Digital Nomad Girl common courtesy, especially when most of the servers are Students who get paid next to nothing.
OMG make a podcast!! That's maybe half in Italian????
North Americans love to drive their cars. I hated that vehicles were not accessible or many people don’t even drive in europe. europe is not for me at all.
These huge supermarkets exist in Europe, but not in the cities, for sure
I want a talk show!
I hate tipping! I especially hated when I went to Bestia DTLA... grrr..
You tip your hairdresser?! Wtf
NonStopParis I know right?! At least 20%. It makes getting your haircut so expensive!
In Germany, too, but you just put some coins into a piggy bank that's sitting on the counter, no need for a huge tip.
Nice video xx
Katharine Makeup thank you! Xo
Zoey&Sofie United...the last tv show!
We have everything in Montreal that europe has, including good coffee....
We have everything in New Orleans that Europe has, including better coffee!
Running to catch public transport lol.
Bella gente, dentro e fuori.
grazie mille!
Buy a coffee Moka and then coffee powder, so you can drink how much espresso as you want
Nice video 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you!
What?! Your husband is well lucky 😍😍😍
I don't get it, what's the problem with GMOs?
Ciao I love you both.....!!!!!❤😘😛
Have you girls ever been to Roma Est centro commerciale? It's huge and has KFC😍😋
KFC?! No I haven't! I have been to Porta di Roma which I love, but it's not SO close :) xx
Sofie's World Hi, I've been to Porte di Roma and I liked it but not as much as Roma Est, believe me, if you go there you will totally love it, especially during the Christmas Season, so so great!!! 👍🏻😍😘🇨🇦
I like how Europeans dress compared to Americans. They are more fashionable than our "people of Wal-Mart."
Air conditioning (or lack of), superstitions about drinking cold water, and the lack of screens on windows!
Italy is first world as well
One of the biggest things I've witnessed is that when you're in Italy there is no peace of mind. Every time you walk out of the door someone is bothering you trying to sell you something or annoying you. The second it starts raining, someone is trying to shove an umbrella in your face. Eating dinner outside? Someone comes by reaching his hand over the railing to sell you a rose. Also, which is absurd to me, but someone is always outside a restaurant begging you to eat at the restaurant "come eat here. you want a table for 4? come in"
Niko it depends where you live
Brasil is the same...…Sitting in a sidewalk café in Copacabana there is an endless stream ofvendors.....peanuts, inflatable toys, maps, pencils, even socks! You'll have shirts and perfumes and dolls placed on your table. You'll say, nao, nao, nao, every ten seconds....If you're a single male (foreigner) sometimes one or two garotaswill seat themselves at your table. They'll ask you to buy them a wineor beer. If you're in shorts one of the garotas wll rub her foot up anddown your bare leg....even higher.....
yay, I successed to change the name, I think...
Do you think women in North America wear more make up than Italy?
I've lived in Italy and in China, and each time, when I moved back to the USA, I was struck by how in public Americans hold the door for the person walking behind them. I mean, if the person is just a foot or so behind you, then in Italy and China they will hold the door for you, too. But in the USA, the person could be 20 feet behind them, and they hold the door. It's annoying because many times I've felt like I had to rush to door because there is a total stranger up ahead, just standing there, holding it for me. Then I feel I have to hold the door for others, even though it feels unnatural to hold it for someone who is not right up behind me. It's weird, because before I lived abroad this was not even on my radar screen so it must have felt natural, but now it feels so forced and unnecessary.
Its called having respect for other and just being nice
Hey girls, what about EUR area in Rome? You can actually find new modern buildings
The perfect description of EUR was made by Federico Fellini in an interview in 1973. You can find the most of it also here on UA-cam if you type "Fellini EUR".
Fellini must have been an extremely funny and interesting person.
True! But I think we were thinking more along the lines of a “downtown skyline”. But yes EUR is definitely more modern :) thanks for watching!
Thanks dear for nice :) video 🌹👍 (47) with my pleasure 🌹 .
Milk in America lasts for few weeks?! That's a lot of preservatives there! Is that real milk? Is that good for your health? I am shocked to hear that
About 10 days on average. But it's because it's pasteurized, not because there are added preservatives.
Ciao! Qualche italiano?
TWO BEAUTIFUL GIRLS! Rudi from EUROPA.
Grazie Rudi!
What beatiful girls. The blonde is fantastic
No billboards in VT.
That's true! My mom's in VT and it reminds me of the Tuscan hillsides!
Tipping in Canada is easy...look at the tax on the bill...
Zoey sounds like she's from toronto with how she talks about her experiences back in Canada...i dont know what restaurants you've been to...but ive never had those negative experiences of basically being kicked out of a restaurant...
I know travelling the world is great...but you should also mayne check out different parts of your own country...see the diversity and varied cultures
E il bidet?
There is a difference between drugstores and pharmacies. Pharmacies are basically only for medicine, and then drugstore are for everything else and hardly sell any medicine. It's just the way it is here 😊
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Where in North America are you from?
Lol did you even watch the video????
Kristen Heuer 🤦🏻♂️What???
Hey, do you two girls have a relationship with an Italian man at the moment?
In America going out to eat is a mission rather than a family outing..for example in Europe friends or family go out to eat to socialize on the table, discuss their daily events, while ordering and eating..in America it’s critical for the family to go out and eat first then possibly socialize...Americans must eat big, must get their ice tea re filled at least five times and take rest of food home, including getting extra bread..
That’s an ignorant stereotype . You make it sound like all Americans are only interested in gorging themselves.
I think you cant build above the height of vatican Dome,in Rome.
America has states, while Canada has provinces.
hi, (pls don't look at my fake name ahah), my real name is Julie and I'm half Swiss and half American. I'm so sorry if my enligsh isn't perfect, I speak english with my grandparents but it's still bad. Aww thanks so much Julie! Really made my day with your sweet comment!
La mora è hot, ma la bionda è sexy...
Where do you think GMO food is grown? In a lab in the basement of a nuclear power plant? Most of the food that is grown in your local form has been genetically modified from its original structure over the years. LOL
And the reason milk goes bad so quickly in Italy isn’t because its more “natural” or “organic”, nut because it hasn’t been pasteurized. A process of mildly heating foods to kill pathogens. H9nestly, take some basic science classes.
Sounds like you’re bashing on the United States
americans tip their hair dressers? for real?
Yes
Tecnovlog yes. Am a male & tip my Barber
Yankee girls are not as hot as Canadian girls.. I love Canada.. Greatest country in America!!
