- In the past, I used to think that dividend investing is good. It’s stable, pays passive income, resistant to downside and has the power of compounding. But I realized that dividend investing is not as good as I originally thought. In this video, I explain why, and what you should do instead.

By using this strategy, you get to grow your money consistently in any market conditions. I explain the strategy in this video.
• How I Use Options Whee...
I use a technique to avoid paying the withholding tax. I sell the stock a day before EX and buy the stock back after EX dates. The price of the stock will fall by the value of the dividend on EX date. Thus I get to save the money
No right and wrong. But if you buy a good dividend paying company that is doing well and has been increasing dividend every year, it is almost certain that your dividend yield will increase year by year(ie same amount of invested, increasing dividend). There is definitely chance of this company paying out almost 10% or more when u hold the stock till you retire. Imo, much safer than growth stock in your retirement years. And dun forget it's captain gains if it is a good stock. But as I said, no right or wrong, it depends on the investor's taste and comfort level :)
My portfolio consist of 65% SGX dividend stock, 35% US/CHINA growth stocks. Then i use the dividends to purchase more growth stocks monthly. I feel better with both growth and dividend stock about 50% each.
U r a smart potato 🥔 👍
Prefer growth over dividend, so yes i agree.
to add on, low interest rate environments favour growth companies whose cashflow are projected in the future. in high interest rate environments, market favours dividend companies that already generate stable cashflow. low cost of borrowing favours IT/innovation
This video is very smart. Great job! I'm personally 90% in Tesla. Elon is the greatest engineer of our generation. Most analysts are ignoring future software revenue, insurance revenue and solar power/energy storage revenue. Lots of upside surprises the mainstream media isn't following.
elon is a fraud
We humj ji, buy dividend stock, feel safer. Lol
Are u sure is safe? Hahaa
I wouldn't say dividends are completely bad. Like what you said towards the end of your video, it depends on the age of the investor. It depends on what are your investing objectives, time period and so on. Besides dividends are used in the dividends discounting model to arrive at the value of a stock. So in this context it is not exactly bad. There are 2 schools of thought in finance regarding dividends, one values dividend and the other, like how you explained disregards dividends completely. There's no right or wrong answers, it depends on you!
When you mentioned Singtel along side with DBS, I almost dropped my cup.
Sorry, but my hatred with SingTel runs deep 🤣
Good... Good. Let the hate flow through you

@@gracechew422 look at the 5yr chart.
@@gracechew422 Has 4G increased performance?
What makes you think 5G will make a difference?
Like then Put messages here because this video is good for everyone
Haha thx
great point that has not heard of dividend stocks. btw, can futu and tiger now do covered call?
Cannot yet. Will let u know when they can
what do you suggest for me now at 40 yers old and need faster money for business after 3-4 years, any best sugestion???
Investing would be out, because there's a chance market will crash. I would suggest roboadvisor cash account that earns 1-2%, or if u ok with the risk, put stablecoins in blockfi or hodlnaut for 5-10% interest
@@KelvinLearnsInvesting Thank somuch
Thanks Kelvin for sharing the options , I am keen to use the wheel strategy but i own mainly hongkong stocks. is it easier to make money in hongkong options, it seems like liquidity is not that much? any comments?
Hm, i think liquidity not an issue because there's still people doing hong kong option. But probably the amount needed is much higher because it may be more than just 100 stocks
Would you consider REITs as real estate assest or equity?
A lot consider this as diversification towards real estate (away from equities). Either physical real estate investments or REITs.
I hate dividends payout. I prefer accumulating than distributing etfs.
Hi Kelvin,
Can you also suggest on better ways to invest SRS funds? As most of the Singapore stocks are stable/dividends driven...
Can consider using endowus
Hi Kelvin, just came across your channel tonight. A total newbie on investing. 24 year old here, with only around +- 2k savings. Am definitely looking into growth investment instead of dividends. Should i start my investing path towards the Wheel Strategy? Or are there other strategies you could provide which are of a lesser complex.
Also where could I start on buying & selling stocks? Any apps/sites you could recommend? I've watched a vid you made last year on getting started but unsure if its still relevant now since its been over a year you made that video.
Would appreciate too if you could give advice on what kind of stocks I should look into investing or within what countries etc. Thanks in advance! :)
Wheel's return will definitely be lower than growth stocks in the long term, can focus on growth stock first.

Broker for SG stock: ua-cam.com/video/QRAtAg6FMsg/v-deo.html
For growth stocks, its definitely US stocks. Can check around YT for which stocks to invest :D
@@KelvinLearnsInvesting thank you for the reply. I heard there'll be a 30% tax deduction if investing in the US market. Isit still worth it to invest in it based on ur exp?
Also i saw a vid of selling options on tiger. I understood the method u taught so was wondering if u would recommend a starter like myself to get into that. Thanks in advance!
@@syaidi1234 The 30% tax only applies to dividend. Most growth stocks doesn't have dividend so no worries. For options, If u have the capital to do it, can start small :)
@@KelvinLearnsInvesting noted and thanks alot for ur advices Kelvin 😊👍
But it's safer?
Yup its safer
Does this apply the same for REITs?
Divident stocks are for old uncles....when we are still young, seize big opportunities in life, divident stock not going to change life
yeah
Yeah master
Hey Kelvin, I clicked the link to the video to explain wheel strategy but the link is broken.
Ops, thanks for letting me know. Here's the link:

thank you Kelvin
Hi Kelvin thanks for the informative video
Hi Kelvin, hope all is well with you. What are your thoughts on investing and hodling ETFs long term using brokers like Tiger, Moomoo, IBKR etc instead of via banks? Any difference actually?
It depends on your total asset and how often you buying.
IBKR has monthly fees if total asset lesser than $100k, but has lower trading fees.
Tiger/moomoo slightly higher fees but no monthly fees.
Some banks like DBS charges custodian fee for US stocks, and their fee are higher, so just avoid bank brokers, unless u are buying Ireland domiciled etf, in which case, can consider Standard chartered.
@@KelvinLearnsInvesting ah~ thank you so much Kelvin~ 🙏🏽
Maybe growth dividend stocks? Best of both worlds tho its extremely rare to find such a company. Maaaybe aapl could be one but that is if one already has a considerable amount to lump sum into. If not, better go for pure growth ones to accumulate substantial amount of wealth first.
Haha, u are right, i feel it's better to choose only 1
Hi kelvin .. dont like that leh.. i think old alrdy i will still love chicken rice and kopi peng ahaha.. good vids as usual!!
Hi Kelvin, I’m newbie in investment. I noticed that many companies are due to publish their financial report by end of July, when do you the best time to buy stock? Before or after the financial report out?
I think if you like the stock just buy, it could very go up or go down after the report. If you are worried, maybe just buy half before and buy half after
The Stock i bought increase price after ex-dividend?
Right when opening, the stock will adjust downwards first. After that, how it wants to move is up to itself.
Hi Kelvin, my portfolio consist of purely etfs. Arkk, smh and xlk. How do u think about this portfolio?
High risk high reward. The one I'm concern about is arkk. There's no guarantee they can continue to deliver good returns in future
@@KelvinLearnsInvesting In ur opinion, which etf or growth stock will u recommend to replace ARKK?
Will make a video for that soon
Hi boss now there is script dividend so is it still worth to invest in dividend stocks
Morning Kelvin, thanks for sharing
What about reits? They are required by law to distribute most profit in dividends
Good for passive income, bad for growth
Well i have all US dividend stocks... my hopes and dreams are ruined, though wont interest rates have to go back up soon :c
Morning
Morning, u are early!
U seem to hate first reit. Haha. I also sold it away
Haha, good that you sold it
Hi kelvin recently i come about VTI, VXUS and also VT was thinking to put a sum and wait for growth what are your thoughts. thanks for making all this amazing video which guide me a lot
If considering VXUS and VTI, why include VT? VT is for the laziest who want a single fund. Those who want to manage US vs rest of the world investment focus choose the two plus fund portfolio
what stocks do you do the Wheels on?
Mainly nio and pltr for now
huat ah
