The “example 3” video was interesting with a bit of waves and using it to balance body and yak. I could see this being very helpful on Lake Guntersville and Wheeler when the big boats pass by.
Chad that guy is awesome person. I met him around Charlotte NC. I bought used oldtown bigwater 132 from him.he was doing the stick. After getting measurements information off each kayak and different models he sold kayak cheap. Super nice guy. I myself live 30 miles from him.
I don't think it's a gimmick. While not everyone who kayak's may need this, there is a market for an accessory like this. I can see 2 separate use-cases in my family. As a vet with some equilibrium issues, along with my wife who has had 7 knee surgeries, we have a few use-cases where this could provide value. The costs of a small business start-up, R&D, labor and materials while manufacturing at a presumably small scale... yeah, ~$195 isn't out of line for a well-made product that's backed with a guarantee. Semper Fi.
Thank you for the feedback. This scenario and the reasons that you explained for you and your wife are the exact reasons that I thought it made since to get behind this product and help them get some more visibility.
Good invention! 👍👍 I made a stand-up bar out of 1.25”pvc modified for the front in hull rod holders. I can lean against it when flyfishing. Works like a charm. It was free..Scrap pipe from a job site. 👌✌️
Not a gimick. This is really great for people who want to get into kayak fishing but couldnt be cause of a disability. This helps that problem with this product. Its gets them to their dream state and that is getting out there ripping lips!
I could see it helping to safe yourself from tipping out and over. Being able to totally collapse it out of the way when casting while seated is necessary.
I think it potentially levels the field. As a mid 40s guy with not the greatest knees if this saves me energy there’s that much more endurance left in the tank to hang with the young bucks
I had knee replacement surgery two years ago and it was painful to get in and out of the kayak, also it was tough to keep my balance. This product would have made it so much easier for me! At times I didn’t want to go fishing anticipating that it was going to be a pain in the butt and that I was going to be feeling some pain. This would work great for both dock and beach/shore launching. Hopefully this product will be available for a Hobie PA12.
I’ve been watching this product since last year. I’m on the list for the propel drive version. It’s on the same level as the Command Stand but less obtrusive. It appears to be easy to remove the stick to get out of the way. Looking forward to its release.
The steady stick looks like an interesting product that might appeal to some people who want something more solid than just a strap to hold on to while they are standing. For just getting up and down though a drag strap or rope of some kind works just fine.
Thanks for taking the time to comment! Much appreciated!! The competition would be the traditional four-point connecting stability assist stands (One example is the Command Stand from YakAttack at $250).
I have a wilderness systems recon 120, without the pedal drive. It would be nice to ha one that mounts in the drive location without the drive being there.
Thanks for taking the time to comment! There is a lot of value at that price point, including a money back customer satisfaction guarantee the first year and a limited lifetime warranty on material and craftsmanship.
@@ChadHooverFishing I made one of these for my Gopro that can easily be adapted with a gear track for the same purpose: ua-cam.com/video/OH28Dhz4vQ4/v-deo.html
Thanks for the comment! This version doesn’t float; however maybe down the road that is a feature we can incorporate. The height clamp on the balance pole does have the ability to be tethered when not in use and can easily fit in rod holders.
Because that’s how it works when you launch a product and there is significant tooling cost and start up cost to bring the product to market. I am not going to pretend to understand his product development process or costing model, so it’s not something I can comment on specifically, but it’s easy to understand that you have to recoup your cost in a startup so I get it more than most. I hope that helps, it’s the best explanation that I have for now.
@@bamabigfootThanks for the question on price. Definitely not price gouging- to be transparent, more than half the price is cost to produce. We are offering 20% off on pre-orders which helps bring the cost down to $156+shipping. Also, comes with a 1 year money back guarantee and limited lifetime warranty on materials and craftsmanship. We think that is a lot of value at that price point.

C’mon man. If you aren’t interest in the product that’s cool, but it is much more than a piece of pipe and they have invested quite a bit in the tooling for the bracket that attaches to the pedal drive and the pole is extendable and has a corrosion proof coating so there is much more to it than a piece of pipe. It’s most likely not a product that I will use personally because I stand confidently without it and have for years, but the product is much more than a piece of pipe.
Listen I’m sure for someone who is “stability challenged” this is a nice gadget. But so is just about everything else in this sport for those guys. From an anglers perspective that thing sits right the way of me casting standing or doing just about anything on the front half of my boat.
Chad, don't feature stupid products again. This guy had the gall nerve to say that this product is price competitively below market? For those that need assistance get a stand-up assist strap and be done with it. A strap won't get in the way of you casting or landing a fish either.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I could have explained the priced competitively remark better in the video - thanks for the feedback. Just to help clarify, the product primarily is for balance assist while already standing, but can also assist with standing up and sitting down. A stand-up assist strap isn’t our competition. Hope that helps clarify- have a great day!
The stand up strap doesn’t help you while you are standing, it’s helps you to stand up and to sit down. Not everything is for everyone, but for veterans or others with equilibrium issues this product could provide some assistance, so that doesn’t make it stupid. I will also continue to use my platform to help small businesses and products that may help others.
Thanks Chad this is the booth I message you about. Your the man

I think it’s definitely got it’s place for the right conditions and for the right angler
Thanks for the comment! Definitely helps with that use case.
Well dang! I would’ve bought this before I bought the stand i recently bought. But mine really helps me stand and fish with me only having one leg.

Exactly right! Thanks for the comment!!
It comes out of the mount so that you can stow it when casting
Thanks, Chad - that’s right! Just a couple quick revolutions and it fastens/unfastens from the housing.
I think it potentially levels the field. As a mid 40s guy with not the greatest knees if this saves me energy there’s that much more endurance left in the tank to hang with the young bucks
Thanks for the comment! We agree!!
My next challenge
It can act as a good lever too. Just saying.😁
Looks cool, maybe just a bit over priced.
Thanks for commenting! Pre-ordering will help lower the price down by 20% if that helps. Have a great day!

"MSRP....is below the market"? What market, by comparison, in terms of function? It looks well made and solid w good guarantee, but $195?

make one to go in a scupper hole ...
That would lead to a ton of cracked scuppers
I like the concept as clumsily as I am. But realistically, am I going to spend $194.99 on something I can DIY for about $60.00?
I would be interested in seeing what you can come up with for $60.

I’m confused by that price point? Why is it so expensive? I was paying attention and then he said $195 and I lost all interest.

Not really.
