- Columbia Borough, PA. Fire Department demonstrating why their new aerial should be a tiller and not a rearmount.
The tiller being used is a 1976 Seagrave PT 100' aerial TDA. Overall length is 52'9".
The rearmount is Columbia Borough's current 2000 HME Smeal 75' aerial with an overall length of 37’5”.
If your department is interested in having a demo and/or apparatus spec consultation , visit and DM @76seagravetda on Instagram for more information.

Stumbled on this video and realized I saw this TDA at the Wawa in Downingtown early morning 3/24/23. I snapped a pic of this sexy beast. That Detroit motor was screaming on rt. 30 as I went by them a few minutes later

Tillers are the way to go
We don't have Tillers here in Houston
8V92???
I'm thinking 8V71N
tiller is the only way to go. you can do a u turn in a regular intersection. its not the overall length that is an issue for the tractor trailer rig. it beats everyone else because its only the wheelbase of the tractor that matters. and that is shorter than a pumper too. i tillered in so calif for 3 years. best time of my 32 yrs on the job.
And what about all wheel steering trucks?
