It is REALLY easy to overthink rhythm changes and be too complicated, too much. Glad you enjoyed this. Please subscribe if you haven't yet. There is MUCH more good stuff coming. Great video. Beautiful tone in the examples. Anyone know what MP Jeff is using here?

I've been using a Ted Klum "Florida" #8 for a good while now. I think that's what this is. Might be a D'Addario Jazz that I was trying as well.

Thanks Jeff. While I'm on can I say that I really enjoyed your solo on The Gentle Rain with Veronneau. Straight to my favourites list.

Hey Jeff !! Howsit ? I've given up on trying to play the math. I sound much better when I just play diatonically and invent some melodies on the fly. Perhaps I'll come back to jazzwire in the winter when it's too cold to ride my bike. Cheers !!

I hope we'll see you back at www.JazzWire.net , David. Definitely keep working with diatonic melodies. That said, I'd caution you against thinking that the harmony of a song is "math." The harmony is what gives the melodies shape and direction. It takes some work for sure, but keep investigating "harmony." You'll end up with better melodies too. 👍
