Nice list - I just wanted to share a little bit as someone who plays Duel Links, in case you or anyone else was curious about its meta (since you brought it up in the list): Part of the reason Invoked Magellanica got on the limited 2 list in Duel Links wasn't just because of Invoked cards being too strong, although yes decks with that engine were by far the most popular before the first hit, and continued to be a prominent force until very recently (like a week ago) when Alester himself got hit - it was partly because of Concentrating Current, a quick-play spell that increases a monster's ATK by its DEF, but you can only attack with the targeted monster - which didn't stop you from playing multiple copies of it (or from using it on your opponent's turn, which essentially made it unsafe to ever challenge an ATK position Magellanica by battle if they had backrow up - hell even playing strong monsters in ATK position was risky, to the point that decks started running cards like Flip-Flop Frog to help spin the fusions back to the Extra Deck). Those two cards made the deck seem very 'cheap' to play against since it could just OTK out of nowhere through strong boards, especially given how one only starts with 4000 LP. In any case, what they did was limited Magellanica and Current to 2 because they worked so well together (plus people were figuring out Current was good with lots of popular boss monsters like E HERO Brave Neos - especially when played alongside invoked!) Also, in case you don't know, the banlist in DL works differently than in 'real' Yugioh. You can only play 2 TOTAL cards on the limited 2 list (meaning that, using those cards as an example, you could only have 2 Currents, 1 Mag and 1 Current, or 2 Mags in your deck and/or Extra Deck). Cocytus was put on the limited 1 list, where you can only have one card in your deck from all the cards in that pool, because its protection was very difficult to overcome with DL's limited cardpool and thus made for some unfun stall board states, while Alester himself was put on the limited 3 list very recently, which they did to limit the ability of Invoked to be played alongside other limited 3 staples like Cosmic Cyclone and Elementsabers, whose field spell was also on the limited 3 list - they naturally work very well with Invoked). Fun fact - until very recently there weren't any banned cards in Duel Links, which in its three (four?) years is pretty impressive if you ask me - but as it turns out That Grass Looks Greener and Cyber Stein are very good cards even in a purposefully limited format!
Yay! Thanks for taking my suggestion DuelLogs! You’re the first person to take my suggestion on UA-cam, so thank you again! I really appreciate it! Probably worth mentioning that the earlier non-effect extra deck monsters (such as Gem-Knight Pearl) also saw a lot of play because they couldn't get hit with Fiendish Chain which was an incredibly common trap card.
Monster Reborn? I believe that there is a skill that can allow you to use this card in duel links and it should be very useful for both TCG and Duel links.
@@somebodyoncetoldme8317 do you know almost the entirety of the orcust, thunder dragon and invoked archetypes, as well as chaos dragon levieneer, are in duel links?
I always thought that the link gaia was bad because it costs 3 monsters only gave you a 2600 beat stick. Especially since the Egyptian gods are seen as bad for having a similar cost but gave you effect monsters that had ( or potentially had) more attack points than the gaia you just showed us. Ideas: top 10 best trap fusion cards( trap cards that can fusion summon, I checked their are more than 10) and also top 10 fusion monsters to bust out on your opponent's turn.
Egyptian Gods take up your normal summon, and requires you to have the card in your hand. Being an extra deck monster, Link Gaia is way easier to summon. It doesn't even require 3 monsters, because you can use a Link 2 and then something else. Furthermore, many tokens (like Scapegoat) outright state they can't be used for Tribute Summons, such as for an Egyptian God. So yeah, it's not anywhere close to the same cost to summon.
didnt know that about kaminari attack, that's actually pretty sweet and rare to see a single viable target for a play like that, you'd think there'd be another thunder lv5 or lower fusion card in the game by now.
Thunder as a type only really has thunder dragons as a viable strategy. There are watts and batterymen but they were never competitive. In general, if the type isn't dragon, spellcaster, warrior, machine, fairy, zombie, fiend, or now cyberse - konomi's track record with making good archetypes, generic support, and/or genericly good boss monsters is very spotty. Or in some cases non-existent like pyro. Much like how they only recently started giving ritual summoning viable archetypes and support, they've only started making rock good in the past 2 years or so. Some types like fish, sea serpent, aqua, etc have good cards, archetypes, and engines but they have any good stand alone strategies that don't require other types and archetypes to do anything. Others like plant are fairly strong but only really at a few select summoning methods (xyz and synchros for plants. There is a good control based plant link archetype but it's anime exclusive. There's only 1 plant fusion iirc and it's as old as kaminari attack, there are no plant rituals)

Got an interesting idea for a list: Top 10 cards that were great in other decks, but not their own. Basically, 10 cards that were used in other decks, but never saw play in their own deck. Kinda like Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, who saw next to no play in its own Archetype, but saw tons of play in others.
'Scuse me, sir, but Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon was the original awesome fusion monster before we even got Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. All you needed was a Thunder Dragon and a Polymerization, and you could drop a 2800 Attack beatstick on turn one, as well as thin your deck by two cards. Nothing came close to that kind of speed and flexibility back in the early days, and even today, an easy-to-summon, deck-thinning 2800 ATK monster is nothing to sneeze at, especially since it syncs so well with Thunder Dragon Titan.
As someone who has no clue about modern yu-gi-oh and basically just watches your vidoes for some nostalgia and because I like your voice, what exactly did the Master Rule thingy change?
Basically a Master Rule is a change to the game that occurs at the end of an era, when the newer anime is finished. The changes include new Summoning mechanics (Synchro/Xyz/Pendulum/Links), alteration on the card texts (called Problem Solving Card Text or PSCT), changes to the field layout and to the rules in general. For an example of a field layout alteration, Master Rule 3 introduced Pendulum Monsters and their Pendulum Zones. While Master Rule 4 introduced the Extra Monster Zone. As for an example of rule change, Master Rule 2 (or 1 not sure) introduced the rule of having a minimum 40 cards Deck and a maximum of 60 cards Deck. PSTD changes include things like writing the word "Graveyard" to "GY" so that there is more space on a card's effect for example. The game is constantly evolving, and cards that were good years ago because of their interaction with some rules, might not be relevant now and vice-versa.
@@BILOUUU59 okay seems like a lot of things to keep up with if extra zones get added and removed (if I understood that correctly). No wonder previously bad cards get good if some rules change who the game is played
@@DerpyLaron Yeah, exactly. But the changes only occur once every few years, so we have more than enough time to play with the current rules. The game is still the same tho, you can still play with cards from 12 years ago and add them to your Deck. Hope I helped the most I could!
The specific master rule he's talking about is master rule 4. That rule change moved where the pendulum zones were on the field by instead of having them on their own designated zone it's instead the outer two spell and trap card zones. That's only a small part so I thought I'd mention it. The big change was the introduction of link monsters and the addition of the extra monster zone. The ruling changed it so any monster special summoned from the extra deck had to be placed in the extra monster zone or to a monster zone a link monster is pointing to. That's why link monsters with downward pointing arrows are more useful. The current master rules changed it so fusion, synchro, and xyz monsters can go in the extra monster zone but they don't have to. However, link and pendulum monsters summoned from the extra deck by a pendulum summon specifically must be placed in the extra monster zone or to a zone a link monster is pointing to
@@bensell982 no, the rules stated that the only monsters that can be summoned from the extra deck that can't have the place they are summoned to chosen was the links and face-up Pendulums. Links have to go to the extra monster zone, like you said, but Pendulums go to the zone they always did, the area you can Pendulum summon to, the 3 middle main monster zones.
My main deck is a gem knight deck, and I ironically don't really use gem knight pearl haha. Gem knights focus so much on going into fusion combos to get a brilliant lady out that I kinda never use any xyz summons... I do however use gem knight zirconia quite a lot, due to the fact that it is a fusion, and can therefore be brought out through brilliant lady's effect. Not to mention that it's summon materials are really, REALLY easy to get, and a 2900 atk beatstick that can be brought out with just two monsters with very common traits in my deck is a really good deal... but whenever the deck gets rolling and does its thing properly, he usually just ends up as "alright, I got the whole field set up, with one more card slot left, and my topaz is in the graveyard... eh whatever, get zirconia in here why not"
Good video! And i think Scrap Archifiend is good b'cause its scrap, and Archifiend, and demon, and generic, so you can make Archifiend scrap tenyi, it can be a cool Rouge deck. Hehe thanks 4 reading

In Duel Links Magellanica was limited because of his OTK potential since boosted with Aleister it wins you the game. The first Invoked strategy that came out in Duel Links was basically a stun deck with stuff like Flip-Flop Frog and Scrap Goblin to turbo out Black Rose Dragon clear the board and OTK with a boosted Magellanica, the deck also played Concentrating Current so both cards got limited to make players choose beetween them

God this game has changed sooo much...before I started playing Duel Links recently the most "complex" mechanic was all the different HERO fusion combinations 😅
This is a bit late but it varies depending on what the card's effect does. The baseline is that can't summon extra deck monsters into a main monster zone unless a link monster is pointing to it, but the most recent format made this restriction only apply to Link monsters
About Invoked Magelanica in duel links. It's not really semi limited just because "the deck is too strong". It's because it's 3K atk, with Invoker's boost it's 4K so they had to hit it so people can't Trunade into Magelanica OTK
I know this comment is super late but the invoked monster got limited to 2 because you can only use a total of 2 cards from all the cards that are limited to 2 (in duel links), so they did this to make it impossible for invoked decks to run other limited to 2 cards with the earth invoked

the reason why magellanica is semi in DL is because of another card name concentrating current , its a quick play spell that allows you to boost your attack with your own defense but you can only attack with one monster. The issue is in DL , you only have 4000 lp , if you boost magellanica with aleister , and use concentrating current , he easy reach 8300 attack , that enought to OTK everyone in DL by beating into almost everything , this is why he got quickly semi with concentrating current in DL. And yeah aleister engine in DL is broken since is release and still broken currently in DL. Aleister is the most play monster in the game.
@@mfznal-hafidz8592 Yeah , this is a big part of why aleister is op currently into DL. And its an UR so at max its gonna be limit 3 ... So yeah all the current invoked fusion in DL are almost broken in some way :-(
@Charmiskit Also for the joke is so good in DL that he was able to make roid méta before of another card , kiteroid was quickly semi in DL for Being to good at stall. He was with some niche play with magician girl. But right now currently , is played with element-saber that can have any attribut you want , insane with invoked , already got hit 3 times in the BL and nerf skill and still méta to this day. That deck have 1 year in DL , lol. The other one Its a neos fusion engine. Invoked as started with that deck before neos engine get nerfed , this is why he goes with e-saber . But now is comingback with neos fusion and volcanic Shell for easily summon purgatrio and use volcanic as cost for card like raigeki break , karma cut or divine wrath. So yep , little story for invoked into DL :/
Lanphorynchus would have been amazingly popular if it released in COTD. but no. It came out in a structure deck in the middle of 2018, when we already had Knightmares pushing useful link design. Also no one plays it anymore. Psyframelord lambda has more attack on the same conditions, with an effect that searches hand traps.
It went unmentioned, but Sea Monster of Theseus is an extremely rude Super Poly target, especially when you consider the fact that you can use it on Martial Metal Marcher and the Tuner it revives.

do you really think there wont be some degenerate somewhere that will find another degenerate combo with some forgotten 2005 card and halqfiber?
Shape was right, why didn't we listen to him?
so why did people use ultimate dragon instead of anything else
BECAUSE IT LOOK COOL
i swear i love this content
Wait until you see the reason why dark flare knight was once in every ED. The answer is because it's so bad that it become the joke cards to fill the ED.
Nice list - I just wanted to share a little bit as someone who plays Duel Links, in case you or anyone else was curious about its meta (since you brought it up in the list):
Part of the reason Invoked Magellanica got on the limited 2 list in Duel Links wasn't just because of Invoked cards being too strong, although yes decks with that engine were by far the most popular before the first hit, and continued to be a prominent force until very recently (like a week ago) when Alester himself got hit - it was partly because of Concentrating Current, a quick-play spell that increases a monster's ATK by its DEF, but you can only attack with the targeted monster - which didn't stop you from playing multiple copies of it (or from using it on your opponent's turn, which essentially made it unsafe to ever challenge an ATK position Magellanica by battle if they had backrow up - hell even playing strong monsters in ATK position was risky, to the point that decks started running cards like Flip-Flop Frog to help spin the fusions back to the Extra Deck). Those two cards made the deck seem very 'cheap' to play against since it could just OTK out of nowhere through strong boards, especially given how one only starts with 4000 LP.
In any case, what they did was limited Magellanica and Current to 2 because they worked so well together (plus people were figuring out Current was good with lots of popular boss monsters like E HERO Brave Neos - especially when played alongside invoked!)
Also, in case you don't know, the banlist in DL works differently than in 'real' Yugioh.
I learned how to play because of you, so I’m really happy you did this!
Edit: I didn’t really think about the fact that other people probably suggested this.
It's soo good to see de percentage growing in the end of every video! Keep up the good work!
If Twin-Headed Thunder Drahon doesn’t beat out Blue Eyes Ultimate I’m done.

That card was a beast in Forbidden Memories though.
Scrap Archfiend was also used in Early tenyi decks as a synchro target for Maremare
The Synchro Era was so fun. I wish I could re live the old formats that were more back and forth.
Man it's nice to get a break from school and watching your videos! Also this list is interesting
Thanks for getting me back into Yu-Gi-Oh bro, I've been watching a ton of your videos and I remembered my love for the game and it's fascinating combos and options 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼❤️
Probably worth mentioning that the earlier non-effect extra deck monsters (such as Gem-Knight Pearl) also saw a lot of play because they couldn't get hit with Fiendish Chain which was an incredibly common trap card.
I haven't played Yu-Gi-Oh since before they added pendulums but your really do a good job explaining things thank you for the videos :)
Great vid DuelLogs! I like using the Invoked monsters in Duel Links.
Great top, as always. I thought you would include any of the Metalfoes fusion monsters (whose names I don't remember)
Yeah, Orichalcos and Adamante can even be used as Super Poly targets if you control a Metalfoes. That's really cool!
I always look forward to these videos! You're my favorite yugituber, keep up the great work 🙂
I feel like gem knight pearl will be one of the first xyz to come out in duel links
You are correct.
Top 10 cards that are strong in both Duel Links and the TCG
Lmao what like 0 cards?
Monster Reborn? I believe that there is a skill that can allow you to use this card in duel links and it should be very useful for both TCG and Duel links.
Michael Carrasquillo The number one spot is a card thats limited in duel links :/
@@somebodyoncetoldme8317 do you know almost the entirety of the orcust, thunder dragon and invoked archetypes, as well as chaos dragon levieneer, are in duel links?
Cosmic Cyclone would be in it

Gaia Force of Earth 4 Lyfe
Not sure if this WAS done yet, but what about a "Top 10 cards that Require you to Have No Monsters on Your Side of the Field"?
Top 10 normal spell cards
This is right up my alley, being that I possess a Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon (and Dragon Master Knight)
@@jaernihiltheus7817 A female Rose monster with about 2100 attack. Basically a rose-dressed woman fused, appropriately enough, with rose thorns/stems. I'm sure her name isn't Tytannial.
@@Prince.Eva.Huepow yes, that's the plant fusion i was thinking of, rose specter of dunn in the tcg. I was wrong though - i forgot predaplants exist when i wrote this.
@@jaernihiltheus7817 Me, too. I figure I knew about Preadaplants since I am subscribed to DuelLogs but I was thinking of old plant fusions. That was the name, Rose Specter Of Dunn. The only old plant fusion I remember. Preadaplants are the only others I remember.
Also, I looked up Tytannial and she's Princess Of Camellias, an effect monster that's more recent in comparison.
One of my favourite Synchro monsters is on the list. Gaia Knight is sooooo easy to summon and has a pretty solid attack stat for a Level 6 monster.
Top 10 videos overshadowed by the banlist
My guess is that Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon was used as a lv12 fusion monster not because it was cool, but because it was cheap and easily accessible. Just a guess though
I never thought I’d see LANphorynchus in a “Top 10 Best” video, let alone #2

Got an interesting idea for a list: Top 10 cards that were great in other decks, but not their own. Basically, 10 cards that were used in other decks, but never saw play in their own deck. Kinda like Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, who saw next to no play in its own Archetype, but saw tons of play in others.
Already done that
You forgot, Invoked Magellanica also has awesome artwork.
5 headed dragon laughing at blue eyes ultimate dragon 🙃
'Scuse me, sir, but Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon was the original awesome fusion monster before we even got Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. All you needed was a Thunder Dragon and a Polymerization, and you could drop a 2800 Attack beatstick on turn one, as well as thin your deck by two cards. Nothing came close to that kind of speed and flexibility back in the early days, and even today, an easy-to-summon, deck-thinning 2800 ATK monster is nothing to sneeze at, especially since it syncs so well with Thunder Dragon Titan.
itz pretty satisfying seeing the subscriber to viewer ratio climbing up over time
Top 10 boss monsters part 2
@@DerpyLaron
Yeah, exactly.
Links have to go to the extra monster zone, like you said, but Pendulums go to the zone they always did, the area you can Pendulum summon to, the 3 middle main monster zones.
i didnt even know there were syncro and xyz monsters without effects
Big shout out to all the original people ideas that made these bad/ not normally used cards in such a creative way. I won a local tournament at a card shop using the Celtic guardian in my Shaddoll deck. It's combo like theses that makes Yu-Gi-Oh more fun!
Video idea: best specific-materials extra deck monsters
In Duel Links Magellanica was limited because of his OTK potential since boosted with Aleister it wins you the game.
The first Invoked strategy that came out in Duel Links was basically a stun deck with stuff like Flip-Flop Frog and Scrap Goblin to turbo out Black Rose Dragon clear the board and OTK with a boosted Magellanica, the deck also played Concentrating Current so both cards got limited to make players choose beetween them
You should have put Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon as number one just because it looks cool
Aleister in Elementsabers, Aleister in Neos Fusion, Aleister in Aleister decks, Aleister everywhere in Duel Links.
Top 10 cards that changed the way we play Yu-Gi-oh
Gorz: Direct attack with lowest attack monster first
Infinite Impermanence: Never t-set or avoid stacking cards on same column
etc. etc.
@Charmiskit it's hirumared's job 😌🙃
Invoked earth was limited due to OTK with Concentrating current. The missing 2 invokeds that are not in duel links are essentially there in spirit. Ultimate Providence is used in the deck sometimes and is essentially Invoked light. Elementsaber Molehu is pretty much Invoked Wind as they do the same thing
Gem Knight Pearl is one of the COOLEST card arts in all of Yugioh.
The pose, the angle, the sheen, the rarity, the background, the color schemes.... Why havent i bought one?

What do arrows on link monsters do? And i'd like to recommend next video as top 10 3500 attack monsters
This is a bit late but it varies depending on what the card's effect does. The baseline is that can't summon extra deck monsters into a main monster zone unless a link monster is pointing to it, but the most recent format made this restriction only apply to Link monsters
@@thatguyinthecorner4648 well ig i figured it out by that time but thanks anyway
About Invoked Magelanica in duel links.
It's not really semi limited just because "the deck is too strong".
It's because it's 3K atk, with Invoker's boost it's 4K so they had to hit it so people can't Trunade into Magelanica OTK
I would like to see a top 10 support cards to normal/non-effect monsters or cards that requires normal monsters

I'm not scared to Magellanica but Purgatrio, piercing + attack all monsters.
@@mfznal-hafidz8592 Yeah , this is a big part of why aleister is op currently into DL.
And its an UR so at max its gonna be limit 3 ...
Its also a big part of why every people throw fire monster in order to have acess to him like volcanic shell/lava golem (e-saber is different because every of there monster can have the attritbut you want).
@Charmiskit Yeah we basically have cocytus (he got limited for being to good to be removed ,) , magelannica (semi because of current) , caliga (still have some use) and purgatrio , extremely scary in DL because he can OTK you very quickly but he have an UR statut like aleister and invhokation so at best he only gonne be limited 3) .
Another suggestion is top ten cards that counters top ten cards
