actually the best part of the movie is the non talk aspect! It shows how well works just with neighs and non verbal comunication. Def one of my fav movie, to this day the jump gives me chills from my childhood memories
You won't understand how smart I felt when I made the connection of the eagle and Spirit's freedom- The first time we see his eagle friend, is when he's completely free with his herd. Then, when they take him away, we see the eagle look at him from far away. Then the next time we see it, it's when Spirit is with Rain, but the eagle just turn away again cuz he's still not actually free. And when we see it again at the end, that it goes to Spirit and greets him, he's completely free again. But yeah, it's probably not a big deal, but I felt big brain when I made the connection xD
I don't think I've seen anyone escape "bye bye horsie" without suffering a direct hit... I don't even like kids and that shit gets me every time. That and that one scene from Encanto where Antonio is like "I NEEEEEEEEEED you"... instant KO to all who witness
Your joke about “what if they weren’t wild horses at all but just escaped captivity” is oddly on point. 😂 There *were* truly wild horses native to the Americas during the last Ice Age, but they died out around 10,000 years ago, and would’ve been stouter and all the same shade of brown most likely, different coat colors within the same species don’t tend to be a thing in nature unless human breeding interference enters the picture. Any “wild” horses in the Americas today are actually descendants of domesticated horses shipped over from Europe by early European settlers, who then escaped and formed feral herds. Mustangs like Spirit are descendants of horses brought over by the Spanish Conquistadors in the 1400-1500’s or so. So yes, these guys are really just escaped captive horses, though a good few generations on. 😂 Anyway, this is my all-time favorite movie and I’m always glad to see a new reaction to this, so thank you for posting this. :D I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Pugg I was so excited to see you are reacting to spirit. This movie has such a special place in my heart as it was the movie we last saw (my dad and I) before he passed away.
@@Puggapillarloved every moment and enjoyed (specially the horse translating you gave us) just like every reaction you upload for us! Never change and stay awesome thank you pugg! :)))
Same. As a child, I often watch this, repeatedly up to a point where I know this back to back like having photographic memory. The animation combined with the score by Hans Zimmer and songs by Bryan Adams is what made it majestic and iconic, despite being labeled as underrated. Nevertheless, it is the film for the ages and I look forward to see the man who made music behind it perform his magic tonight.
This is such a beautiful movie though a bit depressing if you realize that assuming this follows actual history, things don't end well for the prairies, horses, or the natives. Definitely need more DreamWorkds movies! Sinbad has some bad CGI but the villain's animation is beautiful, and Road to El Dorado is a classic.
Spurs... should not be used like that. Ever. They are tools to be used lightly to provide precise leg aids. Sadly there's still a lot of abuse when it comes to spurs irl, it takes an experienced rider with excellent lower leg control to use them in a way that isn't abusive. And then there's people that just use them like this. Absolutely hate it.
the Native American is called little creek and the trains being pulled by horses is a fact and there are several photos of it . Rain the mare is an American paint horse in a sorrel colour and a tovero paint pattern spirit is a mustang and is dun coloured (goldish -tan colour) and yes spurs are used to make the horse go faster but in 10 years of riding I have never needed them.
fun fact, there's actually a lot of debate regarding spirit's colour. in the movie we don't see his dad, so spirit being a bay dun or a dunskin is a possibility. especially considering the kiger mustang they based his design on was a bay dun himself. however, in the books the film is based on, spirit's dad is a black stallion called strider. his mum, esperanza, is a palomino (who we see in the movie). which begs the question, where did the dun come from? he clearly has the primitive markings associated with dun horses, but he doesn't seem to have any change in pigment indicating dun dilution. my best theory is that he's a buckskin with nd-1, which is a non-dun variation that causes primitive markings with no dilution
We still have lots of wild horse herds in the US, the government has to round them up every now and then with helicopters. Its a whole process. You can go to auctions and buy these wild horses there.
If you were paying attention, you would've learned how to say the word "Cimarron". Also, fun fact: real horse sounds and hoofbeats were used for the film. I'm so happy they never talked, other than Matt Damon's voice-over narration. I prefer it that way. Also, we go some banger songs from Bryan Adams and an amazing score from Hans Zimmer.
"Let me translate: Let me out, please!" Me, who knows horse body language; Actually he was saying "You're my bitch now, what do you think about that" (I'm being serious)
Hey, just a genuine tip, I know its really easy to make jokes about old movies, but to a lot of us this was our childhood, and even though I know it's irrational to get upset because I know you're just joking, it still manages to hurt if that makes sense? I loved watching your reaction when you appreciated the beauty, and a few jokes I even laughed at, but I do think a lot more people would enjoy your reactions if you focused more on the positive thing? Even if it just a silly kids movie
Spirit! Still one of my all time favorites! Super underrated. I see Spirit, I click lol. You were entertaining, so I’m glad I clicked on this. Even if you had some questionable opinions 😒😜
Wish they didnt have a narrator. Other than that Ive always loved the movie. Its hard to swallow thru the cheesy lines. "My heart galloped through the sky" and "a horse has got to do what a horse has got to do." Also it was so obvious what spirit was thinking. We dont need matt damons voice to tell us that he was feeling sad. Spirits expressions were quite well on their own.
I've loved this movie since I was a kid, but now every time I see it I keep thinking realistically Spirit and Rain both would've been VERY dead after everything they went through, I've heard of horses that drop dead of heart attacks from their own shadows lmao I know wild horses are tougher but there's no way they didn't break their legs
ALSO there is a tv series for kids but I think the little girl who "owns" Spirit also owns the fkn RAILROAD??? (her parents obv but like. WTF.) so nobody considers that monstrosity to be "canon"
@@mels607I reject that series so hard. Ruins everything the movie stood for. Little girl who’s dad owns a railroad befriends a wild horse (descendant of Spirit) and immediately rides it everywhere. I think with saddle and reins and everything as well. Like wtf??

So what you’re telling me is that Spirit could be a distant relative of Altivo from The Road to El Dorado?
Alex having a flashback to the horse video had me dying
The thousand yard stare talking about that video was too real 😂
Its pronounced "si-ma-ron" 🙂 loved this movie as a child.
Horses have an insane sense of navigation. You're horse will 99% of the time find it's way home. Even if you get lost, they know where they are
They gave the horses eyebrows to help the expressions come across better!
My baby loves spirit. She freaks out and smiles so wide during the opening.

I wish there was an official version that did not have the narration. That was added because the execs thought kids would find it boring or confusing.
I prefer it with narration.
I know that they made the movie with the plans for talking to be done through song by spirit.
They were right. As someone with a now 9yo, a 7yo will only pick up pieces of info. The narrator reminds them what's going on
