I started off using different papers and glueing pictures from magazines. Then I watched a video on art journalling and decided my creations were not good enough and stopped. You have given me the confidence to go back to my initial books and just keep adding to my thoughts and themes thank you so much.

I needed to hear all of these things! I just keep collecting multitudes of papers, including old family photos and papers, and my perfectionist tendencies have kept me from getting started putting anything together. (I even thought maybe I just like collecting stuff and watching other people create *lol*) I think knowing I can have more than one journal of gluebook going at one without finishing it will help me. Also, permission to copy your style (or try to!) is so generous. Thank you!

I'm so glad you've got some new ideas to think about. Start with a small project, maybe just something the size of an index card or postcard. If it goes ok, make another and keep going until you have a small collection. Then you'll be on your way 👍🏼💜

I have a collage book I made 3 years ago. It is all on horses. So far,I've created 91 images, and am still going, until the book will be filled. I think I will give it a try in a smaller book, like the ones you have shown. Thank you for sharing this video.

A lot of people don’t realize that the fine artists of the past were often taught to copy other fine art when they were learning. It’s a standard method, still used today. It helps to form your own style, finding colors and techniques you like, along the way, as you learn what you like and don’t like.

Margaret, thank you so much for your informative videos and your 50 prompt printable. I'm 74 and I've been a cardmaker for many of those year's. I recently started watching videos about making journals. I bought alot of items for this craft but I'm a little intimidated by it. For those of us less crafty, a gluebook can be a cheap composition notebook. I have chronic illness and pain so won't be making fancy books. When the composition book is filled it is beautiful. Reusing the planners is good, esp. those hardly used 2020 ones. (looks over at shelf) 🤣Love the inspiration and reminder of items to use. Thank you.

Such good tips! Especially about not having to write in your book. I discovered I don’t like journal writing-I like the idea of it but not doing it. You inspire me to pick up an old journal that I abandoned because I don’t want to write and I’ll glue over the boring stuff and give it a new life. Also your ideas about how personal style can change and evolve, and to embrace longer projects. This type of art is teaching me to become more flexible in my thinking and to be less of a perfectionist. I wish you lived next door to me!

so, as I go through the year, I will start putting things on the used pages of my planner. Memory keeper, celebration spot, just a place for that bit of ephemera. At the end of the year you have a pretty good start on a journal to totally add to. Right now my glue book is a small spiral that I use to experiment layouts, a place for 'bits and bobs' to land, a rant/cheer place.

Your voice is lovely and calming. I am useing art for calming therapy and to play with colour and different art mediums. I make cards for my family so I have to keep coming up with something different. Your glue books are perfect. Glue book may not get people looking for your channel but its perfect for people who want to make something art/craft. I love junk, mixed media, colouring in and want to write what I learn. I took the heavyweight art pages out of my Somerset Studio magazines, cut them down, used my Happy Planner punch to make a glue book. The pages are so beautiful and arty and give you a great background to start collaging . On the first page I write “Random Thoughts In No Particular Order”. Then you can journal freely or not. Love it! Love your videos.❤

Oh gosh! I needed this! This video makes me feel so much better about what I attempt to do at my "art" table. I needed that reminder that I don't have to do things "right", but just to do what pleases ME! I watch your videos on my smart tv, but unfortunately, it doesn't allow me to like, subscribe, comment etc. But I'm there! I did just subscribe on my desktop. Thanks so much for your great videos.

Love this video, thank you soooo much explaining it to us. And giving us permission to just do something for fun, and not try to make cards to sell etc. I see so many beautiful pictures in magazines that, to me, I don’t want to throw away when the magazine is finished with. Someone has gone to a lot of effort to either capture that image in a photo, or created beautiful art etc. So I’ve started gluing them into another old magazine, and I’m loving it. It’s sooo freeing. Some pages are 1 complete image from a magazine, others are lots of tiny ones. I add washi tape, but never thought of adding ribbon, thank you. ❤😊

Thank you so much. Another great video. So many AMAZING journals you create. Just the 'glue stick' has helped me, small has helped me and now I feel the book & blank pages will help, Your group Collage Are Collective has offered SO MUCH support in so many ways. It's been rewarding fun to 'try' and 'enjoy' Enjoy each day and again Thank You

This was great, Margarete! I love the covers you use from your food and drink products! They are so lovely. Cocoa Pebbles is just not a stand alone image for a journal cover! I need to class up my eating!😂 I have an over the door hanging organizer where I store all my glue books, finished or not. I can go there and grab one when the mood strikes and either work on one or just enjoy going through one I've completed. Great fun! I have to many ideas to ever finish all the books I'll ever make, and I'm OK with that. As you say, it's the journey, not the destination. ❤
