great job sir ! that one was overdue. You have to schedule 4- 6 weeks for your farrier its part of owning one of these fine animals. If you cant $$ maybe look into a college that can take them as part of learning.

Is there a reason why some are drier than others?
Due to where the horses are located! Some of my clients live in 110 degree weather while others are on mountain pasture. Some are kept in stalls year round and others are kept on pasture year round! Most pasture kept horses have softer feet due to not being in a dry stall

Yes, unfortunately we hardly get any moisture in the summer here so all hooves become very hard and dry!
