I wish there was a LOVE button rather than just the thumbs up. This was AWESOME! There was basically no difference between the two products. I have the Eyeball. Got it in 2015 and have been satisfied, but your comparison was great and good to know. Thanks, Earl.
Thank you for actually purchasing these yourself and giving an unbiased opinion about them. I always wonder when someone is being sent items from the company, if they are really giving an honest revue. I actually did not hear a difference. Since you actually check your levels, etc; and did not hear or see a difference, I trust that. I just can't believe they get $200 or $50 for a foam ball that has been hollowed out with a pop filter on it. Wish I had thought of it before they did and became filthy rich! And they got a worldwide patent on it! :D I tell ya....
Don’t know if I said this to you before but I bought the pf8 because of this video. No true difference between the two. Slight but that’s it. Thanks again brother man.
Hey Earl, thanks so much for sharing this comparison. It's great to know there's an alternative to the kaotica that sounds just as good. You're awesome.
Thanks for the review. I closed my eyes for the final comparison and prefered the cheaper one. However with some eq either would be fine in my anything but humble opinion.
thank you for all the awesome honest information, Glad to find you and will be hanging on to your coattails. I have a sign on my wall at my desk. If you climb into the saddle be ready for the ride. I'm so ready! even for the bumps and maybe being dumped a few times. Thank you
You can get the Alctron PF8 for $23-$25 now on eBay. Just do a search on eBay and you’ll find plenty of them. I was able to order mine for less than $23 and received it within seven days.
@Earl Hall Studio How are you able to read the audiobook script with the huge sponge in front of you? I’m considering purchasing the Alctron PF8...I just don’t know how I will be able to read anything without talking off axis since I’ll have to look to the side to see the screen or paper for my script.
Excellent video comparison thank you fella. I am just putting together some entry level gear for casting and recording. I have bought a Yeti blackout and have the Rode PSA1 Studio Arm and the Blue Radius II shock mount on order. Do you think the Yeti mic will fit inside this alternative. Kind Regards Craig.
Excellent comparison/review Earl - thank you! Listening with headphones to your review I thought the difference was negligible? However the price is not so I think it's the Alctron for me!
They sound the same to me personally. I ordered the pf8 though cause I'm cheap af. My recording environment is my closet. It's a walk in closet that has clothes in it and I also put up blankets so it's already decent as far as dampening sound, but that's with with my sm7b. I bought a condenser mic recently that I will use this with
Thanks for this review. No major difference to me besides extra sibilance w/ the pf8 but nothing an extra windscreen or de’essing can’t fix. Just ordered from Walmart for $35. 6:18 for comparison.
Thanks for the tip.. The Alctron PF8 sounds good to me.. Almost the same as the Kaotica.... And the difference in price is huge! I think I will buy my Alctron PF8.. 😊👍🏽
Very similar in sound, but as I understand the product, it's intended to control background noise. A test with and without the eyeball in a recording space with a noise floor on the higher side of the "ideal" of -55db would be interesting.
I have a kaotica eyeball and my thoughts are let bass for the alctron because the eyeball requires a little bass roll off . feedback appreciated . How much bass roll off it is needed . low end always an issue . Warmly Johannes

@@EarlHallStudio fair enough might take a awhile cause still need a few things and luckily this video was reccomended, seeing if it could help which great video and think I will buy this instead of the eye, so thanks man hopfully this could help improve my sound with the set up I have so fare.
The alctron sounded more bright which I may work for me I rap but my mic is quite warm and quite and the kaotica would make my mic sound over saturated with fullness I reckon the alctron will really help
Both are very dependant upon your positioning. It also affects frequencies and have to be fixed in post. Otherwise, it sounds sort of like you are speaking into a cup.
What do you think of the VOMO portable booth and if you have that, do you still need to put an Eyeball or one of its many knock offs (I have one of those) on your mic? The VOMO is a 360° treated space, as it has a hood you can put over the back as well. Great video - there is zero difference between the rip off £200 product and the much cheaper one! None whatsoever!!!
You can make the Alctron pop Filter ball work with 103 and keep shock mount on it. Take mic out and turn upside down and screw it back inn. StudioLIFE DeVERSED Productions SALUTE
There is a slight difference. I remember when I first heard of the ball back in 2012-2013, a few months later I learned of alctron pf8 . There is a slight difference
Thanks Earl for the vid. What mic are you using, the long black number, with the circular grills going down the shaft? You sound really rich on that mic.
Thanks for the video man. Always enjoy your videos. I have to say though I really think these items are very impractical - How in the world are you going to read a script. I think if your concerned with background noise than you should get a somewhat inexpensive shotgun mic like the Rode NGT2 for about $270.00 or the Sennheiser MKE 600 for $330.00 and then go to your closet or basement "Fort" with clothing and blankets all around you. Regarding the KE, it cost almost as much as the 4" foam panels I got to treat my closet - That's a lot of money just to cover up the mic. I would recommend putting that money toward actually treating your work space, but those are just my thoughts. Once again I appreciate all your videos as you definitely give people somethings to think on. Oh, side note: Not sure if you've done a video on this or not but I've been looking around to get a better idea of what to put on my website regarding VO - Have you done a video on this yet? Thanks again. God Bless, Anthony 2 Tim 1:7 anthonyfleischmann.com/

IMHO the Kaotica Eyeball is giving you a better more real sound than the cheap copy. I own the Eyeball, but wouldn't rush out for the also ran. The Eyeball is a good mobile studio when I'm away from my V/O sound proof booth.
a better test would be wih a singer for higher spl to eccitate the room's resonant modes and compare... further..you had to record excactly the same phrase for a correct compare. To be shure to have the perfect reproducibility better if you recorded just one to two identic microphones, each one wit a differnt vocal booth..just my suggestions...;-)
Both sounded quite similar, very honest and helpful review. BTW, loved the fast motion with the music, it also showed how easy they are to setup.

Appreciate you my brother this review helped big time
Honest, effective review. A real pro. Thanks Earl.
Loved this Review!! You definitely gave me some insight on which one to buy. Thank you

Earl, this is Eric From the D. I should have mine tomorrow! I ordered it a week before Christmas. Thank you for the honest review!
I wonder how mucb shock mount not being fully mounted effects the sound, but definitely can eq everything else in
Thank you for this!!
Great video, kaotica is a tiny bit warmer but that can always be added in effects. pf9 was great fo so cheap
The kaotica sounded better to me. More full range and seems to isolate better but idk if it’s $150 better... thanks for the comparison:)
Stylee Dub/Stylee Productions probably not considering there’s still mixing and mastering left
