This has to rank among the most important "historic" recordings, not only because of the involvement of Krasner (for whom Berg wrote the piece), but Webern as well. The breadth and fluidity of tempi is particularly striking; it's old-fashioned indulgence evokes Viennese culture of the late-19th/early-20th centuries. Wonderful.
So grateful for this. This is a really important document and an amazing testimony to Krasner , Webern and the BBC players. There are so many details and nuances, in a piece that had literally just been created. An incredible accomplishment. (Sadly there are some wrong notes notably at the beginning of part two, due to Berg never having completed proofreading. This has now been recently fixed by Douglas Jarman in corrected editions.)

I had no idea this existed. What a great recording!
The finest performance of this work I’ve ever heard.

The first performance was in Barcelona, in 1936.
This was actually a BBC concert.
Correct. It was a private concert, and was not broadcast.
@@RS3DArchive I think it was advertised in the Radio Times, though (that's the BBC magazine). So I imagine it was public, even if not broadcast.
Was Berg really tall or was Webern really short?
both.
Berg was about 1,90 to 1,95m tall, whereas Webern was about 1,60 to 1,65m.

En az kendin kadar önemsiz bir dislike.
