"Why can't I use Mage Hand to crush the BBEG's heart?" For the same reason the BBEG can't use Create/Destroy Water inside your character's brain. "..." Now are we going to have a proper fight, mister 'why don't the Eagles just fly the Fellowship into Mordor'?
Ok but in fairness there’s a legitimate reason as to why the eagles can’t be used. There’s no reason why you can’t do stuff like put mage hand in the bbeg’s mouth to stop him from meeting the verbal component of spells other than “well they can do it too so no”
@@MattcraftMSTR Easier reason: Because I'm the DM and I say so. My players know I'll allow things outside of the rules as long as I think it provides more fun. "Because I said so." But they also know I won't allow stuff I think will make the game less fun/engaging "because I said so." The number 1 rule in D&D is that the "rules" in the book are more a solid framework of guidelines you can tinker with to your own liking. It's ultimately up to the DM, with no further reason needed than "because I said so." And if a DM abuses that, find a better DM.
A note on 12:19 - whatever bullshit you pull into game, your DM can use back on you. If you one-shot everything with Mage Hand, get a backup character ready.
i made a character that pretty much did that but he quickly realized that was stupid to rely only upon one move so he learned some other offensive and defensive tactics. kept everyone happy AND the one shot wonder could strike at times making for a funny moment. like a bbeg who had two health bars, we barely defeated him on the first one. he comes back, starts monologing and my character pretty much goes "you know what? fuck it. ONE HIT WONDER!"
Ah that last one… shout out to my friends, who let me test run a oneshot that ended up LITERALLY TAKING 14 HOURS to finish. You guys are the best, and I’m so sorry that I am incapable of telling simple, straightforward stories.
One of these days I will not see the Jester cosplay saying" Oh I'm so glad you're playing a Cleric we needed a healer..." in Spooky's videos and it will throw me for a loop.
2:40 i have 2 friends who want to play dnd, and 1 of them is painfuly aware of what that little chat would mean, doing this would make his blood pressure double.
I imagine it cut away not because the rambling nonsense was actually over, but because that's the point everyone at the table tuned out and started playing with their phones while sending apology texts to the DM for inviting this insufferable butthole
It was not in dnd but in the rpg i used to play, my first character could start bonding with litteraly any creature he encountered 😂 In my last session, i had a giant salamander, a dragon egg that happen to be a human/dragon hybrid baby girl that i adopted as my first daughter (my character is from a race that is a distant descendant of dragons), a magic pet that transformed into a full grown badass man, a spirit using a rapier and that can teleport himself anywhere he wants, a wife, two childs and many more xD I swear to god it was funny, each time I returned home with an another pet, to find words to explain to my wife how tf i did that 😂
We actually did this with a drake… we weren’t supposed to, but all of our attack rolls were so bad we started using other methods and we somehow managed to persuade it to be our pet… now it has left with my Monk’s “brother” infested with root… I’m really not sure I helped our party at all… although, one of my partners helps by stabbing with spears so I guess it’s how you look at it
Our current guild is home to the following; a cerebrus, direwolf, two small dragons, a baby giant tortoise, a small worker force of enthralled undead, and a murder of crows.
Current campaign... we have a bard with a pet undead chicken, squirrel, and platypus. The chicken and squirrel are inside of stuffed animals and she is working on making one for the platypus. Our warforged artificer has a fae living inside his head (he doesn't want it there, it just refuses to leave). and my warforged juggernaut cleric of the forge created a sentient clockwork sprite as a familiar using a modified version of how warforged are made by using some shortcuts. Our ranger has also managed to befriend a displacer beast cub. Adopting/gathering/creating pets are a time honored D&D tradition!
when I saw "if characters could perceive real world time" I was thinking about the fact that if you have players doing overlapping night watch shifts. it's just two hours of silence unless something happens or you wanna roleplay. or the long long travel times where no one says a word
Sad so many don’t wanna try TTRPG’s because it’s “for nerds “ but dude it’s so fun! Create worlds, subject to crap out of your control, make GM’s work on the fly cuz you outsmart them and make em try to put you back on “track”. I love it Edit: also that’s why I play Monks… Also 11:06 is why you clicked, and it’s also hilarious.
Why can't people just have non traumatic backstories? All my characters just have the backstory of eh i got bored of selling cats so i just went off adventuring to find my fortune.
1:39 yup, that’s me and my tables all laugh at me because they know I’ll try to stay in character but above table I’m sulking because I can’t adopt everything! 8:45 yup, I do this too lol. But! Each character is different so none are identical to me or each other. 13:56 yup feel that too
i am a strong believer that when it comes to grappling, you should be able to choose between strength and dex. those are two different types of grapples and both are effective

Centaur discussion - there's a distinct difference between riding and mounting a horse: can a centaur sit ontop of a horse? Yes. Can he/she ride it? Not likely, no. Can he/she ride a creature bigger than them? Absolutely.
You do the work of finding these clips and putting them together and I'm totally fine with you adding your personal ad into it. That seems fair, keep doing that.
I made the mistake of jumping from Games like DMC and God of War then going directly into MHFU. Someone gave me the souls-like description of the game and so I picked up the biggest shield I could find. I ended up hating the game's pace and controls. It took me playing MHW a few years later to understand the beauty of Monster Hunter.
False Hydra. Whatever being the Hydra eats, everyone forgets you to the point like you never existed. The Veteran player KNOWS its a False Hydra but cant warn the party since meta-gaming all while the DM is internally plotting doom for them all.
Thanks SpookyRumi. I'm a liberal and even I never trusted TikTok. Then again, I don't trust Facebook either. OMG, am I a tinfoil hat guy :(. Anyway, you bring me wonderful D&D content I would never see otherwise. I will always be in you debt.

oh jeez oww. Just had that mental image ingrained into my mind.
"You try that, and since there was no available open space in that area your mage hand is shunted out in front of the BBEG, roll for initiative."

Mate, that sounds absolutely fucking amazing. Obviously with breaks (and plenty of snacks) that would be a ball of a time.

A centar can "ride" a horse 💀
still respecting the hustle for the algorithm gods with these thumbnails
It just works
@SpookyRumi if it aint broke then it don't need fixing 😂

BOBLIN THE GOBLIN SURVIVES THE BLAST WITH ONE HP
ho no ! not Boblin the Goblin !!! you monster ... welp, time to catch a new pokemon I guess
