I hope David will devote a future video to a chronic problem with Privacy laws: the way bureaucrats & politicians hide behind them to escape accountability and transparency. "Sorry, we can't give you that document, because privacy." As every journalist knows, it happens all the time, and it is so often bogus.
Awesome summary David. Thank you. Love that s44 "lawful authority" mark as well. Nailed it. Only thing I wish is that the Commissioner leveled the fines and the Tribunal only had the review role. That would be more like "police/court" role we see in common law.
Thanks for your kind comment. Like the conventional police/court system, I don't mind them writing the ticket, but I would want to be sure that if it's disputed the question is heard by an independent tribunal.
Hello David! I'm a practicing professional in Canada within the healthcare industry. I believe that many healthcare professionals are unaware of the privacy laws around their practice, whether it comes to collection of health data, storage of health data, jurisdictional differences in filed complaints or storage of data in servers, PIPEDA and how it looks in practice, encryption etc. I was wondering if you would be open to creating a video just for healthcare professionals on the fundamentals of privacy law as it pertains to them? Thanks for all of your work! It's very informative.
Thanks David! (I have been tied up on a deal, so haven't had time to dig into it.) Enjoyable and easy to follow, as always. Please keep'em coming!
Thanks, Bruce. I appreciate your kind words!
Thank you Mr. Fraser for the overview, this is really helpful and easy to follow.
Glad it was helpful!

Thanks for the suggestion! Health privacy is a tricky one since since eight provinces have their own statutes. I'll make sure to put that on the list!
