My water faucet failed on a Saturday. Still can't get a plumber for the following week! No shutoff valve so house water turned off. Plumber contact recommended them to me. I don't want to buy special tools for one-off but I will buy a pex cutter. Cheaper and faster than plumber visit.
I have a GE water line that looks small. I hope I can do this ok as I am so ugh with Costco people and I love Costco..but have part number for the line used for water and seems to be 1/4” will measure again and try find. Thx
How do you take off a T Sharbite fittings when it's connected to other pipes that are connected to the tankless water heater and to the wall?. There's no "give".
I just decided to replace my water heater fittings with the regular copper soldering method. I It was mainly because I didn't want to cut the existing copper pipe too close to the drywall. So I went out got all the supplies at HD it wasn't cheap $140 for the torch, solder, flux, pipe cutter and fittings. If I was doing this all the time it would be worth it but as a one time thing the Shark Bite would have been cheaper.
I have a leak in my waterline, and it's right where there is a rat's nest of romex, so instead of soldiering, I'm just gonna use a shark bite coupling 👌
When one is to use the shark bit on to joints of copper pipe, do the plastic inserts have to be removed from the shark bits, and if so will it leak when the water is turned on?
i am installing a whole house sediment filter on my water line after the pressure tank on my well system. I need only a few fittings and have no plumbing skills now do I own all the crimping tools of other connectors. These Sharkbite fittings seem to be designed for someone like me. It's good to have options.
i tell every one of my friends who have homes to buy a ball valve shark bite or two in case they get a leaky pipe in the middle of the night they can cut off the pipe, sharkbite a valve on there and turn it off...itll get you to where you need until you can get a plumber...and you can keep the water on!!
@@masterflowplumbing9812be sure you put your main shut off where there's easy access. I had a leak emergency and mine is in a crawl space under the house. I had to crawl underneath in winter barefoot and a t-shirt into freezing mud! You can also get an electric one that you can shut off remotely.
The stiffener is used to ensure the end of the pex pipe does not begin to collapse over time. It’s important when using a sharkbite type fitting on pex. You remove them for all other pipe and the orange tool has no debur tool built into it. It’s simply a depth guage.
Give that orange tool another look. Mine has a deburring function and when I zoom in on a screenshot of yours it looks like it has all the same metal inserts for deburring. Website: “Mark proper insertion depth for SharkBite Universal fittings, as well as deburr pipe with a simple rotation of the tool once the pipe is inserted. Features and benefits: Compatible with PEX, copper, CPVC, PE-RT and SDR-9 HDPE pipe. Used to deburr the outside of copper pipe to remove any sharp sections or burrs. Lightweight and durable plastic construction.”
I hate plumbing. No matter what I do it always leaks somewhere. Either the water line or the drain line. Drip drip drip. Pain in the butt. And trying to fix existing copper pipes that were done equally poorly by "professionals" after the walls are in place is an even bigger pain. I had one copper elbow joint in the ceiling just burst for no reason whatsoever and flood the kitchen. And the house is only 20 years old. I'm currently finishing my basement and need to run some lines to a kitchen area and a bathroom. I am NOT going to use copper pipes and solder. I've had enough of that. I'm going to try running all Sharkbite line.

Clicked the Like button to save my home's pipes
Mine were leaking. Once I clicked, no more leaks.
Good video. Thank you.

How did you make out with it ?

Ice maker water lines are almost always a 1/4 o.d tube size. Thanks for watching

You likely will have to cut it out if there is no give.

Perfect scenario for a sharkbite fitting. Thanks for watching

Good, nuanced, explanation. Thanks!

I have never used them , could you just use a tape measure to mark the pipe ?
Yep
In addition to what you do could you put silicone grease on a copper pipe to prevent damaging rubber o-ring inside the shark bite ? Thanks
You can but you have to be sure the grease will not distort the o ring over time. Many petroleum products will do just that. Thanks for watching
@@masterflowplumbing9812 silicone grease
You are correct "Silicone grease" will not damage rubber/plastic but make them more elastic and pliable

Watch the video. I cover that question quite well
You can leave them in if you want to. Personally I’d leave them in. It helps protect the O-ring.
Love the vid 🎉😂❤

Is it possible that soldering pipe will be obsolete next 5 years?
Absolutely possible. I just bought a pro press setup after 34 years of soldering everything. Thanks for watching

When you used the PEX you did not use the Orange tool to debur the pipe 11:35 what is a stiffener you put in the Pex pipe.

Did my hot water line with these about 7 or 6 years ago still not a single leak and i installed alot of fittings

Thanks
Your welcome
I think Compression fittings are more reliable. Don't you think so sir?
In some circumstances yes. However for the average homeowner they can be way more difficult to use
Did that dude just threaten me, Mafia style?
You don’t wanna sleep with the fishes do ya ? lol. Thanks for watching
The stiffener is for the plumber.

You could consider pex piping.
I like to call them junk

I disagree slightly. These fittings can be used everywhere. There is NO DATA anywhere which show FAILS of these fittings.
I don’t believe I talked about failures. I’ve seen very few in my career. I only use these when I need to. They cost too much to plumb a house with.
