- Video #291 | A beautiful MEMU ride from Mettupalayam, in the foothills of the Nilgiris, to Palakkad Town on the other side of the Western Ghats, via Coimbatore - through the beautiful Palghat Gap! This journey was performed in two different MEMUs - one was an older RCF built MEMU, and the other was a newer ICF built 3-Phase MEMU. The video shows the beautiful route from Mettupalayam to Palakkad town, including visuals of Palakkad town station.

Periyanaickenpalayam Railway Station is adjacent to the huge complex of Sri Ramakrishna Vidyalaya on one side and Lakshmi Machine Works Group Unit on the other. Large number of employees of LMW Plant and the Vidyalaya travel by the MEMU trains. I remember having read that many facilities at the station have been provided by the Company under the CSR funds.
Just before entering Coimbatore North Junction, one could see a multi storied building, which is well-known Orthopaedic Hospital - Ganga Hospital.
The Shiva temple near Madukkarai R.S. is called Sri Dharmalingeswara Temple. The steps have been well laid with the help of Military personnel of a unit nearby on the road to Palakkad.
Affordable EMU service is a great benefit to the common man. Hope they add more frequent services and expand services to other new lines

There has been a pitline in Shoranur since ages. A new pitline is badly needed at Kumbla to get more trains to Kasaragod.

Use NTES app for updated and correct timings. There are no direct trains from Palakkad to Guruvayur

Extension of Uday has nothing to do with pitline. Uday is a Chennai based rake and it will be a platform turnaround at Palakkad anyways
