@@TravellingK Absolutely, we have similar issues in Aussie. That model should work well here. There is always some opposition to Council provided "free" camp sites. Personally, I am more than happy with a user pays system. Pay only for items used, power, washing machines, showers etc. is very fair. Currently, I avoid establishments which insist on providing and charging me for bouncy castles, swimming pools, wi fi, power, dodgy ablution blocks and associated unnecessary conveniences . I am self contained, but would definately avail myself of your user pays services !
Now that's a smart idea, hopefully we will see these everywhere is a couple of years time. Particularly like the way everybody is accountable (especially minimising the confrontations with noisy campers!)
This is an AMAZING service that should go INTERNATIONAL !!!!!! Kudos and Congrats to him !!!! Thank You so much for this interview and for All that you do !!!!
What an AWESOME video, Karen ..... Chris is doing things "right" and moving in the RIGHT direction !!! "thanks for doing this interview, and making tourists AWARE of these services :) :) :) Chris is correct, ... it IS a "Win / Win" for ALL !!
Absolutely wonderful video. Clever idea. Focused, simple with smart use of Tech. Obviously getting buy in from all major stakeholders. I look fwd to visiting some of these facilities! Wish you EVERY SUCESS guys!
This sounds like the greatest thing since DOC camps. With NZ abolishing freedom camping as we know it 😔 sites like these will be more in demand! So thanks for giving us an alternative to other more expensive camping grounds 😊
This looks to be a really good and sound business plan and on many levels. I hope it takes off and becomes a nationwide success for him. May I please ask what the object was that was fixed to the wall behind where you were sitting Karen?
@@TravellingK he needs to try to lock down and franchise his idea. This would be a great opportunity for him financially and fabulous benefit to campers and RVer's...and i love the enthusiasm.
Fantastic idea. They are needed all over NZ. Has he considered having a barcode on a phone app instead of the physical key that can be lost or stollen? It would be more convenient.
@@TravellingK Absolutely. It is getting harder to find overnight parking for those long trips when you don't want to pay for a full campground. This would be a great option.
Great idea...go buy some land K put in a kiwicamp ..Use it as a base... get someone to manage it for free camping... and you will still be able to travel around
@@TravellingK I think it's a great idea, everyone's needs are always slightly differant and often so are their budgets. So where this system operates they can have whatever they want, but then don't have to pay for what they dont want. I hope the chap does well.
I haven’t finished watching so sorry if the answer is somewhere in this video but : can we use the facilities without staying for the night? Because otherwise, how is it different from a regular “low-cost” campsite if you need to pay 10$ + pay for everything else you use in there?! Can you go and just pay for what you use ?
Hmmm I think you're charged $10 as soon as you go through the boom gate. But it sounded like some places will have the ability to just charge power during the day while you go to the supermarket. I think each council and camp will be modified to suit the needs in the area?
Any issues if you lose your KiwiCash Tag? Or can there more than one tag for the same account, i.e. a family to use & to use different facilities at the same time?
Hi k. A idea like this would surely come under the provincial growth fund. Have nation wide network of these would be awesome, would go a long way to help out with freedom campers
It's a good idea, but unless the system blanket covers NZ, it's too little for to much. Less mucky tourists who come to this country for its 'clean' environment, then pollute it.

Fabulous interview. What a great guy, with a brilliant concept. Hope he can franchise this, so that it will happen in Australia !
Yes, it's a great concept! I think it's already at a stage that it can expand. Are you guys having similar issues in Australia?

Excellent idea. Australia would certainly benefit from something like this
Interesting to hear you have the same issues over there.
I see zero reason that couldn't go world wide.
If it does....keep the name everywhere!
I like it.
I wonder if this model would work elsewhere? Best name ever😉
Brilliant interview and amazing idea
Glad you enjoyed it! I seriously enjoyed learning about it all... so many areas he can go into with that KiwiCash.
I think that’s an amazing idea, well done to him and his wife.
Yes, it's a great idea and awesome that they have made it happen.
Amazing - Hope the network grows
This guy gets it...great idea and concept...fantastic
Yes, I admire his ideas and drive!

Awesome idea 100% behind it.
Fantastic idea. They are needed all over NZ. Has he considered having a barcode on a phone app instead of the physical key that can be lost or stollen? It would be more convenient.
I feel like the key was for a micro chip? Maybe? And think it's designed to go on your key ring.
I'll definitely be using that when I get my van.
I'm keen to try it myself.
This is amazing! We need these in the states!
Oh so you think this would work in the US?
@@TravellingK Absolutely. It is getting harder to find overnight parking for those long trips when you don't want to pay for a full campground. This would be a great option.
Whooo. this guy nailed it Great idea, come over to the Netherlands !!
I’m keen to see where this takes him!
Great idea, be interesting how the pricing pans out.
Will be interesting to see how the whole idea progresses.
New kiwicamp has just been opened in Kekerengu between Blenheim and Kaikoura
Really! I'm already late in my news🤣
What a brilliant set up
It’s a great idea 😀
What a great guy, need him in the Uk
Such a great idea, isn’t it!!
Excellent idea 👍
And an idea that was built too!
Great idea...go buy some land K put in a kiwicamp ..Use it as a base... get someone to manage it for free camping... and you will still be able to travel around
...crossed my mind.
A good sensible approach. 🙂
Yes! And workable.

Fantastic interview “K”, hey if we come from Ozzie, are we considered tourists or cousins? :)
we will considere you cousins if you take our criminals back when you leave lol
Ohhhh hehe, I'd say cousins😉
What Aussie says they 'come from Ozzie?' haha! Never heard an Australian not use Aus, or Australia.

Yes, a genuine kiwi bloke.
great guy with a great idea i want one
You want the guy or the idea? hehe

Yes, so many ways it can be used!

I'm not sure of the system. I imagine you'd get a new tag and they'd transfer your account over? Could be worth asking about the family query...
very nice idea!
Yes! And so great to see the idea come to life.
What a great idea !
Glad you agree! I'm so keen to see how it progresses!
this needs to come to australia as we get plenty of traverlers maybe he can get this here
Oh really?! Do you have similar issues to NZ?

Oh yeah? Would he help?

On the odd farm😜

Freedom camping is better than using their rip off business
All that giggling annoying when trying to listen
Sorry Karen we found this boring as it went on too long.
lmao
It is a long one and not broken up with different camera placement. Think it would work better as a podcast??

It could have been trimmed towards the end where points are repeated, yes.
