Some ionic air purifiers produce an odor when they are new. If it doesn't go away over time, then it may be the odor from a small level of ozone production.
Most of those notifications that say to clean the filter are nothing more than a timer. Why is it so hard to find an air purifier that doesn’t require expensive filters? This lady is spamming

Ozone machines produce ozone, which is harmful to human health in large quantities. That is why you had to leave the house and air it out afterwards. @imanmmsm amazon sells them but i got the last one for $10 at a thrift store its super quiet if you put your hand on it you will feel mild air.
