15:54 actually it's in a deleted scene Jack tells Beckett that "people aren't cargo mate" because Beckett had asked Jack to transport slaves and instead Jack set them free and thus is how he got deemed a pirate.
The “based on your fate you already live in misery” is a wordplay on the term “misery” and the US state of Missouri, which I think is where starlord was born
"I'm not from Earth, i'm from Missouri."
"Yeah, that's on 'earth', dipshit. what are you hassling us for?"
Jack said “distraction” and immediately noticed that his ship had been sunk. Star Lord played his part by distracting him via the rap battle.
"I saw that dude on Counter-Earth when he was selling meth" was taking a jab at Davy Jones and the events of the 3rd Guardians movie, where there was a literal meth-dealing octopus on Counter-Earth

Listen, if Chris Pratt cant be bothered to try and sound like whatever character he is portaying in any given movie, then id say the guy doing the starlord thing is just doing a spot on impression on their part

The part with Jack and the slaves is not just a theory, its actually cannon. There was a whole backstory explained in books that came out around the same time. Becket (the villain from pirates 3) ordered Jack to cargo slaves, Jack refused, so Becket burned his ship down. Jack made a deal with Davy Jones to get the ship back, but it was forever burned, thats why the Black Pearl is black.The whole thing Davy jones comes for in the second movie is to get payment on that deal.
which he of course does by calling for what he knows Jack wont do, and that is hand over the 100 souls such is like Becket originally charged him with.
"Ask nicely, or the rodent won't say hi to Yondu for 'ya!" is talking about how Rocket basically died for like a minute in Guardians 3, so he would've been able to see Yondu at the other side
If I remember correctly, the “shanty” mostly kind of disses Star Lord’s whole story by expressing how comparable and/or predictable it is to the Pirates films, but I could be off on that. It might also have to do with Star Lord being emotionally driven to a fault. I dunno, that was my initial guess 😅
"There once was a kid with no ounce of a clue, abducted and ripped from his house for doubloons" - Peter Quill is abducted by Yondu, who was paid to deliver him to Ego.
"Deprived of a childhood, he's now a buffoon, like his brain had been draining the fountain of youth" - Basically calling Starlord a manchild, with only his brain being kept young. Although it could also be subtly calling him braindead, because drinking straight water from the fountain of youth will kill you. It must be mixed with a mermaid's tear to actually give youth.
"Your state is a place you don't need to be visiting, based on your fate you already live in misery" the US state Starlord was born in is Missouri, which sounds like misery.
"Can't call you son if you're not a son to someone, skimmed through your bloody films and thought, where's the mum gone?" - every parent figure Starlord ever had (his mom, Ego and Yondu) died in front of him. Meanwhile, Jack's parents live in Tortuga (his father Cap'n Teague is the undying keeper of the Pirate's Code, and his mother... His father keeps her as a shrunken skull ornament)

The live in misery line is about the fact that Star-Lord was born in Missouri
Some great bars there especially for Mike, and Freeced did an awesome impression, but I lost it at Stupes! I’ll bet the rest of my doubloons that they didn’t even have to buy the outfit… (Also, is that BassedOlaf in the blueish vest with a sword?)
Star Lord does say "eff that" in his 2nd verse.
The reason Sparrow brings up the "head pop like popcorn" is because in GotG 3, Adam Warlock saves Star Lord from dying in space (Star Lord lost his helmet in GotG 2).
Adam Warlock ("the guy with the eyebrows") is who Sparrow was referring to when he said there was gold on Star Lords ship.
He's basically saying that Star Lord would have perished for good without Adam, since the rest of his team couldn't save him.
Had to set some time aside to watch this one! I'm impressed by how many references you picked up on right away, there are definitely ones I didn't get till after the video was out /.\
