I remember when this came out. I was living in New York and I didn't give a fcuk, I still had love for death row artists and used to get into arguments with friends,etc over it. This video was hard to accept at the time though. I could've sworn it had snoop kicking over more than one building, at least that's how I remember seeing it at the time. It was like how you going to hate on New York like this when you have so many fans here? And over some shit that's not even about you. Found out later they were shot at in Brooklyn during the filming of a video before this happened so I get it. As much as I miss hip hop that was on another/better level, I don't miss the bullshit attached to it like having to get permission and pay off thugs to be allowed to shoot videos. That shit didn't happen with any other genre of music. These animals(the extortionists) were extorting their own people and oppressing themselves. Completely ignorant.

It was supposed to be love. The hook is originally from Melle Mell. He was supposed to be in the video. The beat was produced by DJ Battlecat. The video was supposed to have a lot of East Coast rappers in it, showing love. But word on the street said that Biggie went on the radio and started trashing out of towners that go to New York and make videos there. Moments later, the set of this video gets shot up. No one knows who did it, so they blamed all of NY and said fucking paying homage, let's kick the motherfucking buildings down. That led to the "LA, LA" song with Mobb Deep throwing people over the bridge.... which is one of the many things that led to "Hit Em Up".
