That Pepsi can is a throwback! I use to get aggravated when the ring would bust off before the tap was all the way open! As a kid and I would end up pouring the can into a cup and that was not nearly as fun to drink out of. The whole experience including the soda was a treat for us kids back then! :D Simpler times I suppose.

Since today seems to be a grand mosh anyway, I have several things to add.
1/ I'm glad that you returned Snoopy to his former place of esteem. When I saw yours, I looked for mine and then I remembered I had cleaned him up and sent him off to my sweetpea. Why not? There was a time we couldn't get her into the tub unless Snoopy accompanied her.
2/ I see your girlfriend still won't allow you to mount the skeleton head as a doorknocker. If I ever get my hands on one look out!
3/ Thanks so much for turning me on to slip-joint pliers. For many years I had a pair of Cee-Tee's in the kitchen junk drawer without realizing they could replace Vise-Grips for most jobs.
4/ I consider myself a faithful Scoutcrafter viewer, but maybe I missed one. I hesitate to bring this up, but I will. Did you ever get that bench vise to fit its swivel base?

    • @ScoutCrafter
      @ScoutCrafter  Рік тому +1

Tap & Die set is beautiful, the flame hardening really sets it off. Many of us no doubt remember collecting bottles off the roadway and taking them in for the deposit. Only a small percentage of plastic actually is recycled, the rest gets dumped, and often that is very far from where it got used; fairly senseless, our forefathers would reel.

Years ago, I was in college as a Graphic Designer. I had an idea when studying the history of the Pepsi logo that they should do a "legacy" case. I sent Pepsi an email and suggested to release a case where every can featured an old logo and/or mimicked the old bottles in some way. I even pitched a marketing plan with it. Imagine the commercial featuring a kid, his Dad, and his Grandad fishing all enjoying a can with a logo from their day. "Different look, same great taste. Pepsi, a family favorite."
Yeah, they emailed me back and said sorry, but we can't take ideas from customers... I still think it would be a great idea... oh well.

Sometimes you just have to spend the money which usually means you can save later, like shipping. One thing I have never understood about gimmick tools, they are clunky. Nice tool finds Scout! I especially like the tap & die set and the calipers. Wiley & Russel, I believe, were bought up by Greenfield in later years, so that set is quite early. I have a very early Russel set that goes to I believe 1" in size. It's the one with the double stacked large wood box with every size having its own die stock handles. I also have two of the Greenfield Little Giant sets that go to 1" with the beautiful color case hardening. Also have some smaller ones and some other brands like Butterfield, Champion Blower & Forge, Ace, Hanson, and a Lakeside set which I believe was sold through Montgomery Ward. I found a set of those Starrett calipers years ago at the flea market for a couple of dollars. They caught my attention because they were quite large and sticking out from under a pile of rusty tools under a table, and I had never seen a pair that big. They are about 24" long and will open to around 46". I don't know the model number of them because it is beat up where the number would have been. I use them fairly often and they have a nice, smooth joint movement that stays where you move it, but not so much that they are hard to move. Great job with the video and see you on the next one!

Oh no John the taps n dies will grip you and turn you in to a collector. That brace attachment is pretty rare, I’ve only got two sets with them in, I’ll do a film for you. I’ve never seen those ratchet wrenches , I’ll keep my eye open now in the Uk. Fantastic film as usual.

@@ReggyontheroadYou need to plan a Spring trip to Jacktown. You could get a ton of American fastners to take home. Just keep each bag under the 50 lb. (22 kilo?) limit...

I would love nothing better than to come for a trip over there from the UK. Maybe when I am fully retired and sell a few wrenches, it might pay for the trip over

I have a metal trash can (maybe 1 ft diameter and 2 ft high) from the 1970's that looks like a Pepsi can. I always thought it was pretty cool.

Hi Scoutcrafter, Pepsi!!! I would never have thought you were a Pepsi man. Being you are an old school man .I thought you would drink Mexican Coca cola made with sugar instead of corn syrup.
Are you a Starbucks coffee guy? Thank you for your show. Its my wind down after work

    • @ScoutCrafter

Soda made with Cane sugar is so much better! In 1984 both Coke and Pepsi stopped using cane sugar and went to High Fructose Corn Syrup. Shame… 🫣

are you kidding me? I was working with a friend last week building a wheelchair ramp for a customer in his garage and we had to move a few things and he had that same crowbar, we were both excited about it, wish I could have got it, but he probably still uses it, so I did not ask.
