Given that this is an episode from August 1981 and Martin's still in the role of Ed Bauer I take it that Peter Simon's arrival in the role isn't too far down the road!? It's a great scene of Ed and Andy at the beginning of the clip and the encounter later at Justin's house.
+ACcountryFan You're right. Peter Simon arrived on the scene as Ed Bauer on September 1st, 1981, so this was one of Mart Hulswit's final episodes (if not the final one).
@@soapsnthings4182 Mart actually continues to appear as Ed into mid-September. I suspect that the September 1st date might be when Simon began filming his episodes, but they don’t begin airing until later in the month.
This is wonderful!

A huge mistake in firing Mart and replacing him with Peter as Ed Bauer. Loved Andy. Another mistake to get rid of Ted LePlat
Firing Mart and Kristen as Ed and Morgan was a huge mistake. Another shot yourself in the foot moment for GL and God knows they had MANY.
Marland focused too much on Nola’s gothic tale with Quint. The show became unbalanced and too many classic characters were written out.
