4.😊Answer: The poor people benefited from the spreprint culture in India on account of the availability of low-price books and public libraries. Enlightening essays were written against caste discrimination and its inherent injustices. These were read by people across the country.
The video is a tutorial on how to answer five important questions from the chapter Print Culture and the Modern World. The questions and answers discussed in the video are: - How did access to books create a new culture of reading? Explain how printing brought the reading public and hearing public together. * Answer: Access to books created a new culture of reading by making books cheaper, more available, and more diverse. Printing brought the reading public and hearing public together by publishing popular tales and folk stories with illustrations, which were recited and sung at gatherings in village taverns and markets. Oral culture entered print and printed material was transmitted orally. - Print not only stimulated the publication of conflicting opinions among communities but it also connected communities and people in different parts of India. Printing played a very important role in shaping the Indian society. Explain the implication of print culture on the religious reforms in India during 19th century. * Answer: Print culture had a significant impact on the religious reforms in India during 19th century. It enabled the reformers to spread their ideas and criticisms of the existing practices and beliefs. For example, Raja Ram Mohan Roy published Sambad Kaumudi, in which he wrote about widow immolation, the condition of women, and Hindu orthodoxy. The orthodox Hindus published their own newspapers to defend the old traditions. Similarly, the Deoband seminary published fatwas to guide the Muslims on everyday life. Print culture also helped the women and the poor to express their views and experiences. For example, Kashibaba wrote Chhote Aur Bade Ka Sawal, connecting caste and class exploitation. Rassundari Devi wrote her autobiography, describing her life as a child bride and a mother. - The production of hand-written manuscripts could not satisfy the ever increasing demand for books. Why? Explain any three factors responsible for the invention of the new printing technique. Mention any three reasons for the limited circulation of manuscripts. * Answer: The production of hand-written manuscripts could not satisfy the ever increasing demand for books because: * Manuscripts were awkward to handle, difficult to carry around, and prone to wear and tear. * Copying manuscripts was time-consuming, laborious, and expensive. * Manuscripts were often written in scripts that were not accessible to the common people. The three factors responsible for the invention of the new printing technique were: * The growth of trade and commerce, which increased the demand for books and information. * The rise of literacy and education, which created a wider audience for books and knowledge. * The development of paper, ink, and metal type, which made printing faster, cheaper, and easier. The three reasons for the limited circulation of manuscripts were: * Manuscripts were costly and scarce, and only the rich and powerful could afford them. * Manuscripts were often controlled and censored by the authorities, who feared the spread of dissent and heresy. * Manuscripts were written in classical languages, such as Sanskrit, Arabic, and Latin, which were not understood by the masses.
3.i) The production of hand written manuscript could not satisfy the ever-increasing demand for books. (ii) Copying was expensive, laborious and time taking. (iii) Manuscript were fragile, difficult to handle and could not be cared for or read easily. 5:07 😊
Mam today I gave my sst exam and it really helped me😮 a lot I was going to skip this chapter but then I saw your shorts about this video...same question came in exam (martin Luther) and a lot more 😊😊
please do get aside for few seconds after each question so we can read it...... what is the meaning of all this if we are not able to read the whole answer ?
4) 1. Manuscripts are fragile, awkward to handle and could not be carried around easily.2. copying was a tiresome, time-consuming, expensive, and tedious business. 3. Manuscripts were carefully handwritten by scribes (skilled hand writers) and that too on expensive vellum hence could only be afforded by the rich and aristocratic classes hence, when marco polo introduced a new print technology middle class people specially like university students and traders they preferred to buy the cheaper version of the book
