Great musical examples of V 6/4. Very helpful video. I was wondering if you had a video planned on Pedal 6/4, or if you could include the concept in a video on 6/4 chords in general.
That's a good question, Pat. My video on Nonharmonic Tones does address the Pedal Tone, which is not the same as the Pedal 6/4. That's not a bad idea to construct a video about other uses of 6/4 chords, or potentially about prolongation in this way. Thanks for the idea!
Hi Dr. Meyer, this is amazing, thank you so much. I was just confused because at 8:39, isn’t the V of BM F#, which is spelled F# (1), A# (3), C# (5), and E (7). Why do you have 3-5-7 under the half note on the third beat, but C# is the 5th of V, not 3….. As you have the notes, shouldn’t the figured bass symbols be 1-5-7-3? I see how every note in the first chord resolves to the right chord tone in the next chord, but I’m just confused by the 3-5-7 under the half note on the third beat of the second measure here. Thank you!!
Tippi- the RNs are a generalization of what is happening on the score, a short hand if you will. Every chord that contains those notes will have the same figured bass no matter their orientation on the staff.
This is incredibly helpful! love your simple and clear explanation. Thank you!
You are so welcome!
I've been struggling to learn cadences and this was a stumbling block. This was a lightbulb moment. Merci beaucoup.
I'm excited to hear that! Happy to help!

Hi there Dr. Katie! So I was just wondering if you take requests. If you do then please make a video on Non Chord Tones. Thank you!
I do have a video on Non-chord tones! Check out my channel! ua-cam.com/video/CArscQK3WOg/v-deo.html
