Bowling On NO OIL! | Highest Score?!

- I've seen a few videos of guys bowling on a completely stripped lane. ZERO OIL. Tell you what, it looked FUN! So here's my 1st full game bowling on no oil! I think I can beat just about anyone on this condition!
Is this the highest score on UA-cam as of May 2024?!?
🚨🚨🚨BRAND NEW BRUNSNICK MERCH!🚨🚨🚨
I have collaborated with Inside Bowling to design some t-shirts and here they are! Sport some OG BrunsNick gear, check out the link!

Now you have to do a video where the lane is completely SATURATED in oil….. from foul line to head pin, and gutter to gutter
Might be fun and might also have some out of range issues with pins sliding all over the deck lol
@@brunsnick Can’t be any worse than when Urethane drags all the oil to the deck
60 ml of oil from the foul line to the back of the rack would go crazy 💀💀💀
Might as well play straight lol
That would be so interesting to see.
Attention Parker Bohn III, your dry lane challenge awaits.
He’s done this with his son before but I will gladly challenge him next time he’s in town.
@@JDubzDrumz I’ll cheer for him too, but still try to give the legend a whoopin
To be honest I thought you would shoot 140. I'm impressed.
I guessed 162, that turkey caught me way off guard! This was a very impressive feat 😎
The long timers probably remember what it was like to bowl on no oil. The solution was a hard rubber ball.
I know Parker bon lll will demolished every one on this challenge because he had practiced on no oil countless times 😂
I will challenge PB3 next time he’s in Muskegon. I think I can beat everyone on stripped lane.
I've always wondered if those automatic lane oiling machines cleaned the old oil off the lanes before they put the new oil down, or if bowling lane oil just evaporated over time? This video answered my question.
The Brunswick machine I use can do anything. Typically, always strips then applies oil.
Nice one Nick! A few months ago, for league, the oiler malfunctioned and stripped all the oil from the lanes and didn't lay any down. I ended up with a 589 series in the 3 game set. Hustle M-M and Pitch Black bailed me out.
Poor Axe, I dont think it gets enough love. I mean I know its a spare ball but its so pretty.
When the lanes are dry, reach for the Spy. Where’s your Spy Nick?
In a box undrilled somewhere.
Phil shot: wrap 10
NICK!!! This was a hard challenge…really had to eat your Wheaties!
Throw hard and pray!
@@brunsnick Yo! SPRAY AND PRAY!!!
Great job, Nick! People don't realize how hard that is to do.
It’s a pretty useless skill for sure and I told everyone how to do it before my first real shot. Stand towards the outside, max speed, reduce axis rotation and don’t hit the ball.
Good news is that the shot never changes - sort like being a lefty😂
It's like the pederson classic
That was an amazing game. I would have predicted a hot runnin' 150. You're just that good, though, and sent those pins packing!
I hate dry lanes, lived through the short oil years in buffalo, ny, find a good rubber ball, you'll look like a star off the gutter, jubilee baby!....lol
Nick, here is where you should have tried your experiment with the helicopter spin and see how it pans out, because the oil would already be taken out of play and you'd get an insane amount of deflection from using a lighter ball and helicopter/UFO spinning it!
I’m not accurate at all with that.
Haha, I work at a bowling center and I've seen all manner of lane machine issues over the years. Lanes stripped dry actually isn't the worst thing that can happen IMO. 🤣
Nick you need to do a medium to light oil pattern video with the lower end balls for comparison play the burn
Got an old Galaxie 300 from K-Mart from the 70's in my garage. 😂
I'm impressed.
Thanks!
@@brunsnick Wonder how you'd done with a purple hammer urethane?
Might have been a little tougher but I may have figured it out.
@@brunsnick I wish I still had my old Slate U dot. Perfect for bone dry lanes.
Congratulations Nick, you figured out how not to leave an 8 pin. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Only needed to strip the lane! Almost left a 4-5-7-10 though!
Well watched your video and I did really good today. I like your content and I really like the ones where you are trying out the devices. I wear a hand device so it's nice to see what some might work or not . Dry lanes went down today 😅
i did play on very poor maintained lane before, exactly like this, and my score was only 105 before i walk away lol
In college I bowled in a tournament at Ohio State that had a 55 ft oil pattern . We all struggled except my future wife who crushed the women's division throwing a 16 lb Dick Weber 5 star. How's out a video comparison of old tech vs new tech?
I only ever bowled 1 game on no oil and shot 175 I’m proud of that😂
I had one shop doing drilling balls but it seems there is no consistency as far as accuracy
Impressive 🔥
202
I was 1 pin off!
@BrunsNick
I would love to take you up on the offer, i have bowled on lanes with less oil then that. I am in Michigan and would gladly make the trip
I wonder if the Spy would work better or worse than the Axe for this one. Not sure i could convince the GM of my Bowlero to let me try this, but it does look fun.
Fun Video
Impressive my friend
180 seems reasonable
Using easy slide on your thumb ? Is it because the way you drill your balls? My hand swells and sweats I found myself late in the league night using easy slide to come out of the ball myself my grip is pretty unorthodox as well
It’s rosin, not easy slide. I need more grip.
i'm a candlepin bowler up here in massachudetts and have never bowled tenpin but i have always watched it on tv and i've always wondered why tenpin lanes are oiled.
Different kind of game.
@@brunsnick why the oil?
That’s every week at our bowling alley lol with the price of oil and gas what it is they can’t afford oil for the lanes shoot they are asking us for our used car oil to see if that will help 😅
160
No oil?! Are you comming to my local bowling center? Desert! I'll always start with my purple hammer. 7/10 visits, it's in the Gutter just past the arrows. Although, one time I only brought a pink widow and I was with my league mate. Him and just threw that poor urathane ball as hard as we could from left Gutter so it would hit the head pin.
Hilarity will ensue with this video.
Zero oil! Lane stripped with the machine. 😬
Just take a bottle of mineral oil and oil the ball before each shot!
@@ripvanrevs now that wouldn’t be very fun.
@@ripvanrevs so I've had this comment spinning in my head for weeks. Today, the dryest lane day of the week, I took a bottle of mineral oil to the bowling alley. I greased up my purple hammer, and threw strikes like a normal oiled lane would. This was the best advice I've ever gotten in my life!
Stand in middle of approach and aim second or 3rd board.
Go for it. Let me know how it does.
DOES BRUNSWICK DRILL BALLS TO GO. IT SEEMS EVERY PLACE I GO TO I GET A DIFFERENT SPAN DRILLED. HOW WOULD THE LT48 REACT ON A DRY SYNTHETIC LANE
No, Brunswick does not. I suggest sticking with one pro shop for consistency.
Original LT48 would still hook a lot on a stripped lane.
155...148... its hard... lost power always...
I'd say around 175 is fair. Besides first, keep it clean.
You are using your Hammer Ax.
You say it’s a light resin ball. Do you mean “light weight” resin ball? Or a ball lightly resonated?
I’m just thinking that a light weight ball (14 lbs) might be useful for someone like who is speed challenged. Lol
It’s a very mild reactive ball, not aggressive is what I mean.
Did your average ball speed drop on the No oil surface compared to an oiled surface ?
The ball slowed down more % wise but my launch speed was up to 21-24mph.
If you had a gallo 24 ball you would have shot way better! They always hooked on un prepped lanes!
A what
186
Put every pba pattern on the same lane and try lol
177
We shall see!!
@@brunsnick I was way off lol, nice work man, keep the great content coming. ✌🏻
Thank you !
For the algorithm... 👍
So if I told you drill it 4 9/16both fingers and 3/8 back pitch on thumb you could not drill it and ship. Span is edge of yellow oval grips to thumb hole wall
No.
140 to 150
A realist I see!
208
140 or 150
This ball with the rotation your putting on the ball should be hooking much much more
What rotation? I was right up the back of it throwing 22-23mph
165
I havent watched it yet but I'm betting against you . I doubt if you get a 150.
We shall see!
204
183
We shall see! 😅
@brunsnick I'm still watching I bowled on a 101 foot lane in chandler Oklahoma an it was dry there oil machine was down but it was still fun
Wow that sounds like fun. Wonder what the high score there is
@@brunsnick203 not bad off by 20 lol
@@brunsnick packy still holds it with a 258 but he had oil but the owner said the next time I go back down he will make sure I have oil on the lanes but oil or no oil it was worth the experience
looks just like the shit we have in australia all the time!!!
Yeah, I don’t think you’re whooping anybody
Find a higher score on no oil 😁
Eh, not impressed. Do it with a 360 grit sanded solid asym
(I guessed you’d only get 165 🫣)
Oh ok
@@brunsnick I’m kidding. I don’t think any 2 handers would fare so well in this challenge lol
Did you know it’s actually called the Phil shot, not fill shot? It’s named that because he invented it.
🤣🤣
Nice Game Nick. It is a great teaching too to bowl on Tough Lane Conditions. It will make you more adaptable to changing conditions. Paul
Oh look, it's the oil pattern I practice on at my poor ass local house 😅 (aint poor cause of me 🤷🏾♂️)
Thought for a second you were on lane 25 at our local alley. Man I hate that lane. Always super dry!! Nice score!!
I know a couple straight ball bowlers who could hang with ya at the very least. Anything over a deuce is impressive on a stripped lane. Kudos BrunsNick!
Try that with a hammer effect 🤣🤣🤣
Ha! Now that would be a challenge.
Cool video tech bowling ball reative resin bowling ball plastic bowling ball with hammer axe bowling ball with carbon fiber technology in the bowling ball more strike and spares hitting power at times brunsnick
I have the Spy, which is a serious condition specific ball. I keep it at 500 grit. Once I was struggling on some serious dry wood. I went from a 183 with another ball to 220-225 back to back. But you have to stand at the gutter on the outside and throw over the first dot as hard as possible with a modified suitcase grip with the index finger as far out as possible 😂. Nice work as always!
When we get our ball speed readings from alleys that show it, is that always entry speed they're clocking?
Yes.
When the lanes are like this, I'll use my plastic ball that has a core in it. The crystal bomb.
when is Hammer going to put the Purple,Black Pearl core in the Axe cover stock? I honestly love my Twist as a spare shooter, but i also love my black pearl, and would love to throw that core in that Axe cover stock PS id be more than happy to test it for you
Challenge all Bowling UA-cam guys & girls, and make it for charity of the winners choice?!?!?!
Fun to watch
Why when the oil is removed from this lane it hooks a ton, yet the lanes in the 1930's and 40's, 50's did not even have oil on them and yet they did not hook a ton?
178
Wow nice job!!
Why is your middle and ring finger like one is further away than the other? Is it how your hand is? I’m curious. It looks like it’s a significant difference.

Just keep going 5 boards left like in your ball demonstration videos, would of loved to see maximum bob with you on this challenge.
When he comes back I’ll challenge him to a game. Moving left would be terrible I think lol
Would have*
How can someone move left? You won't cross many boards with no oil. I think the adjustment here would be to stand far right and try to take off revs.
Yeah going left is definitely not the move but let's be honest, don't ya want to see it?@@BornIn1500
do another gm using the spy
NGL I was hoping to see a no oil 8 pin🤣
Just told Vic Amann about bowling a junior state tournament at 13 where the ball reaction was like hooking a basketball on carpet. A challenge for a steak dinner was put out to any junior who could break 240. I shot beween 224-228 with a U2 just pitching like a knuckle ball to play the roll out off of 3-4 board. Brutal condition.
183 is my guess
180's
packy and darren are shaking
As they should be. 😎
Does this hurt the lane?
It can wear it out faster over time since oil acts as a lubricant for the ball.
do this with reactive ball!!!
It is a mild reactive ball 😁
@@brunsnick 🤣
hey Nick listen to your words in this video..........."I need to wipe off oil from my ball?"........ your funny, lol
Routine habit hard to break lol caught myself mid act
Not NICE to tease the WPBA like that......
I did what to who?
@brunsnick remember last year on the PWBA Tour they had some lane oiling issues.......
Oh, yeah never crossed my mind.
Ive seen people bowl 230s throwing heaters with no hook at all. They dont even know oil patterns exist.
But they still exist.
0:08 the mechanic at Bowlero
Not gonna lie, but I was hoping you split the 10th. 😂
Nothing personal, but you sounded a little cocky talking about getting to the "promised land" 😂
😆😆
i bowled a 300 games with no oil lanes so it can be done.
