Dry dry dry like the Sahara. My 4c hair has that deadly combo of low porosity, high density and thickness. It's a natural umbrella, but wash day is torture.

My hair is like yours...protein is a no no. I stopped using water to detangle and just used very liquid leave ins instead e.g aunt Jackie's quench, curling cream then gel or oil...nice content 👍👍

We literally have the same type of hair. To stop your hair from curling up on it self, twist/braid your hair in the shower so it doesn't dry in its natural form
