As a phantom season ticket holder it was nice to have you, as for the rant unfortunately it is not the phantoms organization that doesn’t do much for the area , it is JAC Management who controls almost everything the club does , and honestly is very sad what they can and can’t do to promote a better game day atmosphere
Intersting. Sorry if I was a little too harsh there. The arena has a lot of potential but just isn’t taken care of. Was this video shared on some kind of Phantoms Facebook group? I noticed a ton of views came from Facebook the other day.
I went to Steelhounds games back in 2006-2008 when I was a little kid. I just went to my first Phantoms game recently, and almost nothing about the arena has changed. The nostalgia factor was cool for me personally, but from an objective standpoint it needs a LOT of updates
The random strobes flashes are actually remotely triggered flash units for the team's still photographer. The are very common in AHL and NHL stadiums, but are probably less noticeable in those leagues due to those Arenas' size and more focused downlighting. Remote triggered flashes are extremely rare in the USHL and other junior leagues.
That would be a fun finals! I’m trying to keep an eye on it and hope to try to cover some playoffs or the finals depending on who’s playing and where they are.
Those lights that flash are for the team photographer. They are called strobe lights. Ever time he take a picture they go off. Very common in nhl rinks
7:15 No wonder why their logo looks like a Phantom Fireworks knockoff! Answers everything now. Also next time you’re in Indiana come check out the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL. Would be cool to see.
Well they do have upgrades planned for the Covelli Centre that the city of youngstown will foot the bill for and they just won the championship so that may help more sponsors kick in some money
I hope so! It was awesome to see them pack the building for the win the other night. That’s what I want to see. This gives me a lot of hope for the club.
This is sad to see. This was such a big deal when they brought it to our city. Youngstown just made a list being one of the best places to live in Ohio. Its also rated high for starting businesses. Hopefully they will put some effort into cleaning it up. Dont apologize for being honest!
That arena could use some work i would love to go see a USHL game unfortunately they don’t have any teams in the northeast wish the league could expand up here
I from Erie Pennsylvania im about 90 miles from Youngstown yes USHL is good hockey but the arena was built in 2005 i see the hall ways look very scruffy bad maintenance working crew as i also recognize floors were really sticky this USHL is good Hockey but arena needs a clean up.
Great review. No need to apologize for the rant; you gotta give an honest review and can't Dick Vitale about every arena. You should add a jersey review to the places you visit and ice conditions if you could ask an opposing player.
So the Dubuque player crashed the net hard after a rebound, the net came off and he was on the ground face down. Then he sprung up and the whole side of his face was covered in blood and de dropped blood all the way to the bench. I don’t think he caught a skate blade so it might have been a pressure cut from the impact he made with the post. Really nasty situation and a huge delay.
Did you also see, Jake Rozzi got traded to Madison Capitals?? He was a good forward. cant imagine how awkward its gonna be for him considering they play against each other a lot. edit: he got re traded to tri city
reall, safe to say i definitely cried when i seen them win the cup, they now have a documentary called live forever. i definitely also cried watching that, not once but twice. the team connected VERY well together and almost everyone left. i will miss that team forever but i think its safe to say that this team is connecting just as well. we won in a shutout 12-0 at the home opener!
Unfortunately Youngstown is a dying city. It’s probably the textbook example for the rust belt. I went to an event at the center sometime in 2017. It and was nice then. Youngstown desperately needs to fix it but assuredly have more pressing economic matters.

Yeah, they really let it go.

Yeah. Someone else commented that too. I’ve never know about that before. It was super weird though.
My favorite East conference team. I hope my Lincoln Stars face against Youngstown in the finals

Wait, really?! I’ve never noticed them in any other rink before where they’re that bright. Thanks so much for the insight!
I do agree the glass needs replaced!
Looks like a pretty nice arena for junior hockey. Just a shame they don't maintain it at all.
Agreed. It would be a fantastic venue if it was well maintained.
Clark cup champion Youngstown phantoms 👿
I was so glad to see that for them!
7:15 No wonder why their logo looks like a Phantom Fireworks knockoff! Answers everything now. Also next time you’re in Indiana come check out the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL. Would be cool to see.
Right?! Same owners! I’d love to make the trip down!
Well they do have upgrades planned for the Covelli Centre that the city of youngstown will foot the bill for and they just won the championship so that may help more sponsors kick in some money

Well put. I’d love to see Youngstown on the up and up again!
I’ve been to phantoms games and wwe shows at Covelli Centre, the parking is the most convenient of any stadium I’ve been to.
It really is. Not often is parking that great that it’s noteworthy. Haha!
2:59 the amount of times ive been there as a season ticket holder, ive never seen that😂😂😂😂, ill have to do some exploring on saturday
Hahaha! Find it?
@@SACSportsAdventures yes i did😂😂
That arena could use some work i would love to go see a USHL game unfortunately they don’t have any teams in the northeast wish the league could expand up here
USHL is a blast. I feel very fortunate that the only Junior A league in the US is in the Midwest.
Now Justin Varner is apart of the Lincoln Stars. Glad to have him here
I’ll have to go to Lincoln just for him! Haha! ‘Atta boy, Varnsey!
Good video bro..👌
Thanks dude! I’ve got a lot of these USHL ones if you like them.
A lot of the flaws you pointed out are also in the bay center, only issue is the bay center is 20 years older
Yeah, that’s fair. It seems so much older than it actually is.
The club just signed a 10 yr lease. We are supposed to get new glass next yr.
Nice! The new glass will be a big improvement!

Agreed! It has a ton of promise but the upkeep is lacking.
Youngstown Phantoms logo is a Same as the Fireworks Company 👻👻
its the same owners, thats why
Yeah. Same logo and same owners.
I always get a kick out of watching the coaching staff shuffle along the boards to the benches. Looks like it was a fun game at least!
I need to have a “penguin walk counter” or something for my USHL series. We’ve got some good ones.
If you thought this small arena was bad/outdated you’d really dislike the Wolstein center in Cle…
At least that building opening in 1991 and not 2005.
You can actually call the phantoms box office and avoid ticket master fees.
I like that idea!
5,700 capacity and not even 500 in the barn for the game. Hopefully the city will start coming out in better numbers to support the team.
Great review. No need to apologize for the rant; you gotta give an honest review and can't Dick Vitale about every arena. You should add a jersey review to the places you visit and ice conditions if you could ask an opposing player.
Thanks, Scott! A jersey review would be a fantastic idea! Especially for USHL teams that might not always get a lot of wider exposure.
11:12 I need to know what happened there. Why is there so much blood?
So the Dubuque player crashed the net hard after a rebound, the net came off and he was on the ground face down. I don’t think he caught a skate blade so it might have been a pressure cut from the impact he made with the post. Really nasty situation and a huge delay.
@@SACSportsAdventuresya it was bad, one of the hockey sticks was jammed into his nose, which caused it to bleed.
Everyone Sad day for Youngstown Hockey. We have just traded My man's justin Varner to the Lincoln stars
Nooooooo! Well, one last time we gotta give an “‘atta a boy Varnsy”
Yes
Did you also see, Jake Rozzi got traded to Madison Capitals?? He was a good forward. cant imagine how awkward its gonna be for him considering they play against each other a lot.
edit: he got re traded to tri city
How did you do the logo animation? 0:07
One of my good friends animated it for me. Let me know if you’re interested in some similar work and I can give you his details.
This is why IMON is better!
Yeah, I agree with that.
Still a good time going to the game. The stadium has lots of potential with a little TLC. Place was rockin when Varnsey put one it
Varnsey is our hero. Always a great time getting to watch some hockey!
Atta boy varnsey!
Varnsey is a Stadium Review living legend now!
Imagine not being Clark Cup Champions🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hahaha! Congrats! You guys were fun to watch.
reall, safe to say i definitely cried when i seen them win the cup, they now have a documentary called live forever. i definitely also cried watching that, not once but twice. the team connected VERY well together and almost everyone left. i will miss that team forever but i think its safe to say that this team is connecting just as well. we won in a shutout 12-0 at the home opener!
Just realised bro was in Y-town during a "Red Out"
Red Out at the university game the same night?
I think so was it a Thursday or Friday
@SACSportsAdventures I checked your schedule from February, and yes, it was a red out for the basketball team the same night
Like two months later they won the cup I was at the game when then won it
sameee it was amazing, i definitely cried💀💀
Yeah! And I saw they packed the place out for it! Great to see!
You need to get to a Waterloo game
It should HOPEFULLY be on my list next winter… hoping for some kind of Iowa swing. We shall see.
I am a saint you should have see. The scare that he has it’s nasty
Beautiful rhyme.
Unfortunately Youngstown is a dying city. It’s probably the textbook example for the rust belt.
I went to an event at the center sometime in 2017. It and was nice then.
Youngstown desperately needs to fix it but assuredly have more pressing economic matters.
I agree. The fact that they have Phantom Fireworks in the area making bank but not helping the community is pretty upsetting.
😮😮
My dads the head coach Ryan ward
Nice! They were a fun team to watch.
