The ironic thing is the owner of Starbucks started the chain because he was inspired when he went to Italy and experienced a coffee bar…to me it’s just another example of gentrifying these beautiful European cities. So glad I did most of my traveling in the past ! Young people don’t have a clue of what they are missing…
I don't like Starbucks coffee even in. America. Why would anyone would go to Starbucks when in the birthplace of the best coffee, poured in real cups for the fraction of the price of Starbucks coffee to go in a paper cup?
We spent 3 months in Firenze earlier this year, and will respectfully agree to disagree with you. The idea of spending a minute in Starbucks in Italy seems like a waste of time and money. However, the idea of getting a work space for a couple of hours with free wifi is a valid point. Keep up the great work as always. Btw, check out the British Institute on Wednesday nights. Best kept secret in Florence, and it shouldn't be.
AC and place to sit down at your computure, not many coffee shops in Florence that have that. And besides, just have some fun and try it. Anyway, yeah, I'll check out Brit Inst. I think I have already done it one night.
@@GregorBrown Cool. Any chance you’ll do more cycling vids in the hills of Tuscany? We bought bikes there and retraced a ride you did. Ended up biking to Greve in Chianti and north of Fiesole before our time was done there. Great advice. Found great places for espresso, sandwiches, and baked treats along those rural roads.
In India, in Bangalore, and across the country the Starbucks runs on the actual coffee machines with the porta filter and the grinders to grind them coffee beans.. Great videos 👍📸
Not the coffee experience (and cost) we love and enjoy when we visit Italy but hey it must be popular otherwise they would not be there. Another great video Gregor.
I had to double-check to see if this was an April Fools video or not. As an American, I don’t think I would want to go to Starbucks in Italy unless they had free restroom access or something like that.
I think visiting Starbucks in different countries is like visiting McDonalds in different countries, its just fun to try out new menu items of a global chain. its also sad that this will cannibalise the local coffee shops. the Starbucks here in London all use the push button machines and are very much a fast food vibe rather than a nice cafe experience. nice video! I can't believe you like the Oleato!! for me it was the worst!
Sadly I'm an ice coffee person. Damn the mermaid! Good to know where I can do some work while on the road.... out side my room. And where I can get a Venti iced coffee
If you are in Rome and like the combination of cold and coffee, you could try a "caffè shakerato" or a cold coffee cream. I'm not a fan of these, they are usually both overly sweet for my taste, but probably meet the Starbuck taste better. In the summer you could just hit a gelateria and have a "granita al caffè" or its poor relative "grattachecca" (shaved ice with coffee, which you can find in kiosk and carts around town and at the beach).
I love the sweet creamy concoctions from Starbucks. When my wife and I travel through Italy next year, we might just stop at Starbucks for our American coffee fix. I am so looking forward to all the great regional Italian foods but am not so sure about the Italian coffee options.
I live on Hilton Head Island and on the small piece of land there are seven Starbucks, three of which are in grocery stores. Talk about global domination, haha
As an italian Starbucks makes abosolutely no sense.
Lol, that’s meeee! HAHA! Thanks for stopping by in our store!
You bet! thanks for being so friendly! 😊😊😎
@@aris1956 He only had contact with two people in the video, and the other was a dude.

Woohoo!!!! Starbucks in Thailand and Japan was amazing ❤🎉
I didn't try it when I was in Japan but I'm heading back next week so maybe I will
How can it possibly be amazing? Think about what you're saying. They are here in China and there is nothing amazing about them.
@@jbennison5672You don’t go there for the coffee. You go for the dessert drinks of death. And the actual desserts.

For the reasons I mentioned in the video 😂
So what you’re saying is I should go ride my Vespa around my local Starbucks to give the patrons a genuine sensation of being in Italy lol.
Haha. Yeah. That would be funny 😂😎

Great meeting you outside Starbucks Gregor! Great video once again
Hey! Yes. Thanks for saying hello!

Happy to see that!!! The talent of the Barista shines!

Thanks Peter. I don't go every day but sometimes I do!
There is no Starbucks anywhere near me. Not even sure if there is one in the entire country (I live in Australia).
Yes. You're right. It failed there.
The air-conditioning sounds nice.
Yes. Welcomed air conditioning
Really setting the mood lol😊💛

Starbucks failed in Australia
Great. The one thing the Aussies got right.

it is fun! Exactly. But in Italy they aren't really eating up the other shops.
it was good until I reached the left over oil that settled at the bottom

No shame in iced coffee. Love it!

I don't go to Starbuck's.
If you really had to go to Starbucks in Italy, you had to go to the one in Milan.
Been cool place
Yeah it's a Reserve Starbucks which is supposed to be upscale
Brownie for brown 😂
I would never go to Starbucks

Yeah. Do it once but definitely spend the majority of your time in italian cafes.

You are covered when it comes to Starbucks😂
Starbucks in the UK is awful weak rubbish. Never had a bad coffee in Italy.
What a joke. Liking Starbucks coffee in Italy. That says a lot about your taste. Not much.
Haha! There's so much variety in the world. I don't want to limit myself
Mermaid?
yeah, in the green and white logo.
