Thank goodness for Sam and his common sense! Elvis would have never ended things that way - on the toilet with his pajamas down. No one would want to be found like that. Plus, Lisa was in the next room - not to mention his deep religious convictions. I also agree about Billy Smith. No one knew Elvis better than Billy and Gladys.
Is it just me, but I can probably listen to Sam Thompson talk all day and all night long. His southern charm, humbleness, and good demeanour is absolutely overwhelming. What a down to earth human being( also his sister without a doubt was the one lady I would of loved to have seen with Elvis to the very end, because I will tell you, if Linda was there with him on August 16, 1977….. Elvis would have not died that day…. She would of been checking in on him every 2 minutes)…. And that’s a fact!!!!
Kudos to Sam Thompson. Straight shooter, gives a fair and balanced account. Frankly, that's a rarity among Elvis sources -- most are biased, have an agenda. Thanks, Sam.
Good interview. I do recall the video where Priscilla said Elvis committed suicide. It's hard to know the truth about this but personally, I don't believe he intentionally took his own life. I do find it interesting that he'd requested two packets of sleeping meds the morning of his death. What Mr Thompson says here makes sense. It's my understanding Elvis was extremely ill in the days preceding his death. If he'd been suicidal surely he wouldn't have chosen to do it with Lisa in the house. I agree, Elvis' lifestyle and poor health is what killed him.
Priscilla would or should watch her mouth and accept the fact that he was happy, he didn’t need or want her back, but, she was still trying to act the grieving widow, which she wasn’t , except for attention.
He did not need to kill himself in his bathroom - he could have asked to be alone and done it in bed. Most certainly he would not have done that with his daughter in the house with him that night. I think he overdosed.

There is just a true sense when someone is telling the truth and Sam Thompson is in a rare league when it comes to that about Elvis.
Thank you Sam and Sig!
Thank you for posting this.

Thank you for clarifying that Sam Thomson.
Great question.
If anyone saw the CBS special would know Elvis was very ill even the makeup artist for the show said Elvis would be dead soon ..
The make up made him look worse too be honest. He could of done without it
He explains it all real well.
